Just had the update done on my 2022 Trail Boss Refresh……before the update I had issues with the infotainment system. I had static with music and issues while making phone calls via Apple CarPlay. After the update I haven’t had any issues. It seems like Chevy has fixed whatever issues they were having before the update. Just food for thought……I had nothing to lose.
if you go into settings, system, about... what is the "build number" I'm interested as to what the number is after the Y in the sequence. Mine is Y169.3.2, and this did not change after the dealer "did" the update. Everything I'm seeing is the Y number should be different. I'm thinking either the dealer did nothing or it did not work. Mine is 2024 LT Silverado
Decided to get the software update done today. Everything worked fine before and seems fine now at least on the test drive home. Also I just received the tailgate notice yesterday so they had the part and took care of that too.
Having problems after the update. Finally took it back and they disconnected both the Pos and the Neg cable and cleared a code and it seems fixed for now.
Had recall done ,couple weeks later had low battery warning,took in and did 50 min recharge of battery and tested good. No further issues so far. That was 2 weeks ago
I had my trailer brake module recall done and they came out with this about a week later. I haven't taken the time to get it done, but my CarPlay has been quirky to connect and wireless CarPlay hasn't worked in months. Hoping this update may correct that but not real confident!

just bought my 2024 two weeks ago. not sure if it's done, but my android auto is trash and at one point the infotainment center just deleted my phone all together on the phone page lol. it wasn't happy. but even with just Bluetooth and android auto disabled on my phone, my phone connects but truck says media is unavailable sometimes. had no issues in my 2019 Volkswagen Atlas with android auto. I also saw Android auto is coming out with another huge update, version 12 to 13.3 I believe I read.
I believe your update has to have been done for them to let it leave the lot. Are you planning on taking it back to get it fixed? Because that is definitely not right.

Haven’t had the update yet. I did have the battery go dead and the tailgate malfunction. My truck had been waiting to be fixed since august. A guy pulled out in front of me. He had a red blinking light I had yellow blinking light. The shop was so backed up and waiting on a part they are just starting to work on it now. Truck hag 3700mi when I got in the accident. So still have to take it in for the tailgate and soft wear recall.
The only issue I had with my 2024 2500hd that I am aware of was google maps would stop working once in a while. After the update, it still did it. So I don't know if it did anything for my truck. After the last time, I learned to force restart/reset the infotainment system. You must be in park and hold the end call button on the steering wheel for about 10-15 seconds.
I get it! If you do have them look into it, it would be appreciated if you let us know what the results were on how to fix it so we can pass that info on to others

I get that's very frustrating! But it is the law that they can't sell the new vehicle if there's a recall out. It helps keep people safe and keep dealerships from hiding issues
The recall in this video is the serial data gateway module and radio update, GM has revised this recall to remove radio update, only serial data gateway module needs to be updated now. However, some trucks/SUVs, typically pre 2024 model, came with android 10 system installed from factory, and the latest version available is android 12. According to GM, latest version fixes multiple wireless connection/blank screen/not responding/other functional and stability issues, it is weird that GM removes radio update with this recall, some vehicles/owners may really need it. GM also says the OTA update, or wireless update, could update your radio to the latest, but in real case, I figured that such OTA updates often either fails or does not send you any update at all, even if your radio system is really outdated. So if you are sending you vehicle to dealership for such recall, take a moment and check the radio system version, go to your info screen, click setting, go all the way to the botton and looking for system version, if it is not android 12 (typically shows in blue color, android 10 shows in white), talk to your advisor and ask if they could update your radio manually, you may or may not have to pay for that since it is not required by recall anymore.
Purchased my 2024 Silverado back in September when the recall first was released. Can't comment on the issues before hand but the process added a little over an hour to the purchase process. Can't complain because it was long enough the salesman took me to lunch. The software update itself took about 30 minutes and they did disconnect the battery afterwards for about 15 and did what can be described as a full system reboot. This was the first update the dealership did and probably took a little longer being the first. I think now they are telling owners it will take 45-60 minutes. It was described to me as being needed to fix a satellite radio/service issue. Dealership never got into specifics but I haven't had any issues since taking possession of the truck. I just wish it allowed CarPlay to go full-screen or provide the option to have a digital clock instead of the analog.
Very interesting. I know my android auto pre update will go full screen. And as for the clock, you can swipe up or down for map or other things if you don't want the clock. At least pre update it can be done.

When I did this recall/update on my ZR2 HD during service over a month ago and the trailer brake control module update. The brake control update went well, but the serial data gateway module and radio update the dealership screwed up the installation as I left the dealership my brakes went to the floor, steering was off, radio cuts out and ironically I got the weird crackling phone call audio after the update than before, with over the air updates. The crackling phone call audio is a bug GM is still trying to fix and I am pushing for it as my truck was fine till the update. GM knows saying in a TSB that they are working for a fix. Only issue that's still relevant, but the rest caused by my dealership has. But my dealership tried to install the radio and serial data update 4 different times and then failed and didn't give me a rental till the last day which should have been day one after the first attempt. Also after driving back to the dealership to get it fixed my service manager said it wasn't possible too that the update failed as they got a valid warranty code once programed which is BS as programing can go wrong when successful all the time. So I then showed him the TSB that's in GM's system that states this can happen too ironically, denied it, and argued with me as a mechanic, till his tech said that's what happened and was fact lol. The big issue is I have learned is they don't use a power supply while programing these vehicles when they should and battery voltage goes below 12 volts and causes programing issues, along with a fact too they ignored another TSB stating my truck needed a different software so they were continuously till the last attempt installing the wrong software. I constantly fix GM cars in my area new or old because a lot of times technicians forget while programing any vehicle new or old you need constant 12 volts. Literally I fix vehicles from dealers just because they don't follow procedure. They even ordered a whole radio for my truck for no reason too lol. Then on the last attempt the GM tech also damaged my interior center console by scratching it all up to the point I had to then wait another month to have that fixed. Kinda a nightmare situation for me as I had no issues before the update and still currently I have a permanent bug GM says they are trying to fix with no ETA over the air. I actually reached out to the local GM district service manager and complained as all of this was unacceptable with a new truck, and I am part of GM family first though my grandpa as an ex GM engineer. They bumped me up a few weeks and had me taken care of. Whats interesting my final and last visit when they fixed the interior and now only just have the radio bug I am waiting on GM for. They told other customers sitting and waiting for my truck to get fixed, since my situation they are keeping cars overnight and giving people rentals from the get go to prevent a situation lime with me from happening again.... But no joke all they had to do was install the right software at my local SOCAL dealership day one. But that was too hard and logical these days... Technically this could have easily become lemon law with 3 attempts and 4 days wasted. 4 attempts is lemon law in Cali. I didn't as truck worked fine till the wrong software was installed by a GM dealership... Hope this helps others out with issues caused by this recall or dealership installing wrong software...

It fixes multiple things with the radio especially the crackling call audio, radio audio stutter, ect. Hopefully later on today I can update over the air than going to my dealership and have my truck 100% again, if your dealership is good can have them do it as well.
I wonder if this is an update to fix all the recall updates that went wrong for everyone ? I'm going to look and see if mine shows a second update or anything in my app
Yup with android auto not working after update, 4g connection dropping, Xm radio round cutting out with the door chime, apparently phone call mic audio, google assistant not working till a key cycle, no data shown when plugging in a usb, front camera is not working black, radio crashing, and performance improvements. Might be more not listed in the bulletin #24-NA-261.
Had the recall done on my 2024 AT4X HD, text messages from my iPhone no longer work. I see no notification on the screen or indication someone has messaged me. Before the recall I'd get a ding and if I was stopped the message would show up on the radio. The "play message" feature has never worked, and now I don't have any text messaging whatsoever. It sucks, but I will try the battery fix. I have done the holding down of the hangup button for a reset multiple times and it hasn't worked, so don't have high hopes for the battery.
@@adventureandrepeat Nope, shocked myself for nothing, Google Assistant doesn't recognize that a device is connected on Bluetooth even though it clearly is. SMS app does nothing.
My truck is at the dealership right now because I came out to my truck completely dead Sunday morning as I was trying to go to Church. I just purchased it two weeks ago and they said they did do a software update that was part of a recall but my car still died. We will see what they say today.
I got mine updated soon after the recall and my radio stations are horrible. I can hardly get no channels and my Bluetooth quit working. I don’t know if it’s a GM issue or an Apple iPhone 18.1 iOS update issue also my wireless phone charger has not worked since day one. But of course, the dealership always says we didn’t find any issues 🙈🙈🙈🤯🤯
It try update over air and left my battery drain 1st thing in morning with my kids in back. Good thing I had it towed to dealership they said it was radio recall. Scary that it can leave you stranded cause of truck trying update and my phone having problems with connection over Bluetooth
Had the recall done and it didn’t help, radio still doesn’t work properly. If I’m listening to an FM station and switch to Sirius it loses all sound and the only way to get sound is to change to a different Sirius station then switch back to the previous Sirius station. Also it seams every time I start the truck the radio will be on something totally different than what it was when I shut the truck off. I’m sure there is a 12 year old out there somewhere that could do a better job at programming this than what GM has done. I was really hoping that this new radio/screen would have been on par with Ford and Dodge, unfortunately it’s turning out to be sub-par. My dealer is currently going back to GM engineering to see what the next step is.
@@adventureandrepeat If I remember correctly , they replaced a module of some sort along with an update. I did not get a copy of the work order when I picked up my truck yesterday. They had to replace the tailgate switch and a leaking engine oil cooler line also.
I bought my silverado 08/20/24 got the update mid october didn't seem to help much, the radio will fail to put out sound randomly also the digital speedometer won't show up,truck only has 2200 mi. disappointed.
I got the update and ever since then I get a cel that keeps going on an off randomly. Codes thrown are for map sensor, parking module with errors from the serial gateway loosing connection with power steering, loosing connection with the brakes, one of the front cameras loosing comms with serial gateway. And fyi, I have tried the hard reset twice now prior to this video and while a good time would pass between the cel going off and coming back. Now it happens every so many miles. So it’s gotten worse
@ so I was advised by a master mechanic to contact Chevrolet directly and start a case and they would make sure the dealership would get it fixed and make sure I got a rental. There is a tsb about there being issues with the wiring that’s causing the issue. There is also things I’ve heard about resetting the system. If that doesn’t work then to replace the module.
Wiring would make sense. It seems like it's a communication error with something or as simple as a bad terminal connection. Tracking that down could be a challenge
I had no issues at all before the update. After the update my clock looses time, clock will reset to the correct time next time you start engine then starts loosing time again,radio cuts off while driving down the road for 10 to 15 seconds then comes back on. Also driving down the road radio keeps going to home screen. I wish I would not have gotten the update!!!!!

My 24 3500 needs done,the radio screen freezes at times. Not as often as my 16 Yukon total pain. Like why get new ride when still have same issues? Everything is junk now days and way over priced !
I have a 2000 Tahoe 64k original miles with collector plates. Runs, drives like new. I would never buy a modern GM/Chevrolet truck: rolling iPhones on wheels. Just bought a Frontier Pro4X instead.
There’s been a problem with there radios since 2019. I took GM to court for lemon law for the radio issues I’ve had and won 10 grand for a radio. GM GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.
I had mine done on my 24 1500 Zr2 this summer, I was lucky enough to have a loaner for the day. Zero issues since the update.

We have chose to hold off as well until the issue becomes a problem. We added a second battery so I'm less concerned about a dead battery situation

It's not showing up in the app as an additional recall or anything. No mention about it. Although I haven't had the initial recall done yet either

@@adventureandrepeat Nope, shocked myself for nothing, Google Assistant doesn't recognize that a device is connected on Bluetooth even though it clearly is. SMS app does nothing.

I have a 2025 GMC Sierra Denali have noticed that my volume level changes, but stay that way for a long time and then jump back up.
My truck is at the dealership right now because I came out to my truck completely dead Sunday morning as I was trying to go to Church. I just purchased it two weeks ago and they said they did do a software update that was part of a recall but my car still died. We will see what they say today.

Is bought 2024 2500hd diesel 2 weeks ago . Have this same problem, radio volume very low and car play calls cut in and out , smh

I got mine updated soon after the recall and my radio stations are horrible. I can hardly get no channels and my Bluetooth quit working. I don’t know if it’s a GM issue or an Apple iPhone 18.1 iOS update issue also my wireless phone charger has not worked since day one.
But of course, the dealership always says we didn’t find any issues 🙈🙈🙈🤯🤯
Maybe a battery disconnect will help fix the radio issue at least? Worth a try?

It try update over air and left my battery drain 1st thing in morning with my kids in back. Good thing I had it towed to dealership they said it was radio recall. Scary that it can leave you stranded cause of truck trying update and my phone having problems with connection over Bluetooth
I'm glad you got it towed in. First one I've heard of actually having a dead battery situation

Had the recall done and it didn’t help, radio still doesn’t work properly. If I’m listening to an FM station and switch to Sirius it loses all sound and the only way to get sound is to change to a different Sirius station then switch back to the previous Sirius station. Also it seams every time I start the truck the radio will be on something totally different than what it was when I shut the truck off. I’m sure there is a 12 year old out there somewhere that could do a better job at programming this than what GM has done. I was really hoping that this new radio/screen would have been on par with Ford and Dodge, unfortunately it’s turning out to be sub-par. My dealer is currently going back to GM engineering to see what the next step is.

@@adventureandrepeat If I remember correctly , they replaced a module of some sort along with an update. I did not get a copy of the work order when I picked up my truck yesterday. They had to replace the tailgate switch and a leaking engine oil cooler line also.
Could have been the trailer plug module? That was a recall that has been out as well
I bought my silverado 08/20/24 got the update mid october didn't seem to help much, the radio will fail to put out sound randomly also the digital speedometer won't show up,truck only has 2200 mi. disappointed.
I get this sometimes. But it only does it to channel 9, 90s music. Change channel and back and works fine.
I got the update and ever since then I get a cel that keeps going on an off randomly. Codes thrown are for map sensor, parking module with errors from the serial gateway loosing connection with power steering, loosing connection with the brakes, one of the front cameras loosing comms with serial gateway.
And fyi, I have tried the hard reset twice now prior to this video and while a good time would pass between the cel going off and coming back. Now it happens every so many miles. So it’s gotten worse

@ so I was advised by a master mechanic to contact Chevrolet directly and start a case and they would make sure the dealership would get it fixed and make sure I got a rental. There is a tsb about there being issues with the wiring that’s causing the issue. There is also things I’ve heard about resetting the system. If that doesn’t work then to replace the module.
Wiring would make sense. It seems like it's a communication error with something or as simple as a bad terminal connection. Tracking that down could be a challenge
Does the software update wipe out all your settings, like seat, dash, garage door opener?
It should not. But I have not been able to confirm in person on that

I do not know for sure. I haven't gotten the recall yet to confirm if it does or not

Yea the letter is terrible. The app gives more details and talks about the radio system itself

I had the update done on my 2024 silverado 2500hd. Since the update, my "Hey, google" doesn't work anymore!

I had no issues at all before the update. After the update my clock looses time, clock will reset to the correct time next time you start engine then starts loosing time again,radio cuts off while driving down the road for 10 to 15 seconds then comes back on. Also driving down the road radio keeps going to home screen. I wish I would not have gotten the update!!!!!
Have you tried to do a battery disconnect at all? Or do you plan on taking it back to the dealership?

My 24 3500 needs done,the radio screen freezes at times. Not as often as my 16 Yukon total pain. Like why get new ride when still have same issues? Everything is junk now days and way over priced !

I have a 2000 Tahoe 64k original miles with collector plates. Runs, drives like new. I would never buy a modern GM/Chevrolet truck: rolling iPhones on wheels. Just bought a Frontier Pro4X instead.
Yes they can have a few issues with how complicated they can be
There’s been a problem with there radios since 2019. I took GM to court for lemon law for the radio issues I’ve had and won 10 grand for a radio. GM GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.

I delete a radio station and it keeps coming back.
That's an interesting problem! I think the only way I could delete mine was if I was parked. It wouldn't let me do it if the truck was in gear
