In August 1986 1 purchased a 1986 K-10, 4.3L (LWB) (262cid) over any other engine lineup. I did want a V8 (305/454) or the line 6. The only option I paid over MSRP was an auxiliary 35-gallon tank. That gave me a total of 55 gallons. I was able to drive on the hwy 1,100 miles before needing to fill up. Looking back I wished to God I never sold that darn truck!!
I have a 2024 2500 Duramax with midnight edition. I don’t know why people talk about the looks… it the sharpest looking truck of all three. In addition, it’s the best riding truck with the front independent suspension… I know people knock it and say it’s not strong enough.. I disagree. I didn’t notice the computer issues , maybe because I have the LTZ trim. A couple issues that were mentioned that I agree with are the water from the scoop is annoying, as it does spray the windshield and the bed outlet is only 400 watts as opposed to 2000 on the Ford. Beside that, the truck rides and tows great and is a complete beast with the Duramax and Allison trans.
This is why i didn’t get a WT or Custom. The LT has most of the things you complained about not having. The upgraded infotainment and gauge cluster is well worth it.
I am a little late to the game as this video is a year old, but you mentioned headlights. I just bought a 2025 2500 HD Custom a week ago and I am very surprised at how dim the headlights are! I need to upgrade those. Apple Car Play starts to playing music automatically as well, and my steering wheel had mold seams that were pretty rough in several spots that I had to sand down. I like the truck overall though.
My biggest complaint about my 2024 2500 Cuatom is the lack of cup holders in the rear. As in none other than in the door which is not good for fast food cups.
You know what I can’t stand people to buy Base models and then complain about the model, like your towing complaint about the blind spot , guess what my 2024LTZ when I hook the trailer up to it warns me that the trailers hooked up, and Blindspot monitoring is disabled automatically along with numerous other things like your little plastic steering wheel . Yeah, it’s a work truck interior what do you expect? I just want someone to explain to me why not for just a couple thousand more you get an LT and it is a completely different truck on the inside. I understand not wanting an LTZ or a high country, because of cost 100% but come on the only people that buy WT interiors or a custom are people that own fleets or just gonna put a plow on them and I mean that in the nicest way, because I love your channel but come on you knew what you were buying when you bought it work truck and custom also do not have electronically assisted steering so your truck even drives differently than an LT, or a higher trim level. The only reason I went with the Custom for the 2024 is because I hate the LT interior. I’m not a big screen/infotainment guy. Otherwise I definitely would have opted for the LT.
You can customize your Work truck and get a customized steering wheel. It’s base model. Go up on money and buy LT otherwise. i love my 2023 chevy 2500 LT. everything that i could wish for is in there. Bro seriously stop putting bad name on chevys. Buy ford and see all the engine oil flushing out on random day in a parking lot and your stuck with death wobble. Best thing about GM trucks nowadays is that GM is listening to its customers and making trucks accordingly. I could stuff 35s and 37s on my truck without any lift kit. I repeat any lift kit. That saves you 5gs right there. You cant do that on dodge or toyota. GM trucks, yes!
I have a few to add: seat cooling turns off with every re-start ( I want it to stay enabled). I hate the way my hood scoop holds water on the hood because it sprays back onto the windshield until it dries out ( hood scoop doesn’t drain like a GMC looks to do). Poor visibility beside the truck. Truck is too high. BSM blinks due to trailer I’m towing. Otherwise/ love the truck.
The water thing is super annoying I agree. After I wash the truck I take my leaf blower and blow the heck out of that fake scoop. Still happens in the rain but when it’s raining I don’t care as much.
It's a stock aluminum driveshaft centrifugal force limitation. Not tires. Anyone who deletes the speed limiter and actually drives faster than 98, needs to either install a custom driveshaft, or swap the 3.73 gears for a higher speed option.

And does that "buckle to drive" feature have to be toggled off EVERY time you start the truck? or can it be shut off and it doesnt reset?
If you are looking for a topic for an episode you could talk about replacement tanks and the fact that the ford 7.3 Godzilla has a 58 gallon replacement tank and the gm and ram gassers do not have one yet.
The TSB is still active, however I have had zero oil usage, although I change the oil at 4509 to 5k...I never stretch out to the recommended one. I don't think I've had a single watcher say they had one that burned oil.
Allowing yourself to get below a 1/4 tank of fuel is a good way to burn up the in tank electric fuel pump . The pumps are cooled by the liquid they are submerged in .
Who needs to go more than 98mph in this truck? I wouldn’t have ever known if I didn’t read it here. I think I’ve touched 80 like 1-2 times in my 22. Usually it’s about 72mph max. I guess my boy racer days are way behind me.
Curious question about our 2 day old 2024 Silverado 2500. The Google Assistant icons are now grey, they used to be colored. Everything seems to work I think. It happened after connecting Android auto and set up my Chevy. I disconnected as it slowed down the touch screens.
PS. Go into settings for Android Auto and shut off automatically play....that will fix the annoying trucking station! You can also delete the apps that are auto installed. PPS. FOPA member ❤
That's strange for sure I'd check for software updates as it should slow it down at all. You can also delete the phone in the list and reconnect and go through the process again. But using android auto and Google assistant shouldn't slow it.
My biggest complaint from my '20 Denali 2500 and '20 Silverado RST are the VERY stiff seats. Friends have F-150 and Ram and the seats are 10x more comfortable. I see Chevy/GM didn't change the seats so my next purchase will be F-150 or Ram. Ive owned Chevy/GM trucks for over 25 years.
I'll agree. The Chevy seats are the same firmness since 20. They are the firmest of the three. The ram is slightly softer and Ford is definitely the softest.
Two of my friends own gms, one Chevy one gmc. Both have none power seats in them. The seats are mounted to low in the truck. They make me at 5'10 feel like a small kid in them. The Ford and ram seats are higher and I feel they are perfect

As I said in the video at that stage I had to nit pick, just so people knew if that was something that they would also like or dislike. If you haven't had a moment, I took kong, the 24 custom and put it over the Ike, Wolf creek and the plains against the 7.3 zilla. I have several series. And hands down I love this truck and engine combo. It exceeded all of KY expectations and really is a dayum good truck. I did a video on it ranking the ram ford and chevy. It's the king in 24 when it comes to gas and value.
I had 0 oil consumption and I worked the truck extremely hard it did all the heavy lifting this summer for all my testing. I do the oil changes at 5k. No engine noise at all. We have a fleet of these at work, zero issues. The truck now has about 27k on it zero issues, noises or oil usage. I'm getting close to adding another l8t to the channel as we speak. Truck is the best gas HD out there.
That buckle to drive would be annoying for sure. Man you need to get an iPhone lol. Wireless CarPlay does come on the screen but unless I was playing music from my phone it just plays whatever I had my radio on last. But all jokes aside it probably is some kind of setting on your phone.
My 2024 ltz gaser ( 2500) doesn't even come close to the diesels as far as acceleration and power. It works for me as I seldom pull trailers but not a good choice for a truck that's actually worked hard
The Custom and WT trim still has them. You can see it in his video between the usb and 120 volt outlet. The refesh interior does lose it though. Which is dumb.
I just picked up my2024 2500 LTZ Z71 Midnight Pkg. I was a little bummed when I realized Chevy deleted the 12volt sockets.Don't they realize that people still use electronics that have 12V plugs??? Simple solution though, USB to 12V adapter from Amazon. Got them in and they work perfectly.
You can go up to the max psi cold of the tire. Typically the dealers do the minimum (on the door plate) to improve ride. You can go slightly lower, most likely your tpms light will stay on. I wouldn't recommend more than 5 to 10 lower than the door plate, because it could cause unusual and uneven tread wear.
As far as the computer is concerned you may not be able to do that as of now gm redid the architect it's a smart computer now called global b it can now detect when someone is trying to change something and can lock them out
True, I did aftermarket bulbs the light is what I want and that did it....but I will give it to you on that the GMC headlights on sle and up are sweet for sure.
Bro wrong video, you are clearly responding to a dodge critique vid :) All dodge guys know to start putting money away from DAY ONE for a new trans in 2 to 3 years if you tow regularly.
Your biggest problem is that you purchased a GM product. Ford quality has slipped some, but they’re still ahead of GM. Even Ram trucks have managed to maintain and even improve on quality, and are probably ahead of GM as well. GM seems to be putting more money and effort into marketing rather than quality control. All truck makers have their issues, but GM leads the pack when it comes to producing low quality vehicles.
Actually I said in the video I had to nit pick and this was early into owning it. The truck now has 29k miles on it, crushed the ford in every tow challenge and in my opinion is the best gas HD truck in 2023 and 2024 so far. I love kong, but I'm not brand loyal, I try and be objective, not subjective and I try and point out things that some buyers may prefer but won't necessarily notice when buying that later could make them dislike the truck or car.
I was never a fan of GMC trucks. There was always the poor design, look and price issues. There will be a rough ride for every truck manufacturer to survive through the hard times. They use to make huge profit off of the trucks they made, but because they dropped their attention to detail they will lose profit. Unfortunately, they jacked up the prices so much that in bad times like this, only a few people can afford to buy their junk. I have no sympathy or remorse for them!?
Honestly as im watching your video, you’re making a big joke of yourself. You wanna over 98mph in a heavy duty truck. You know that your tires speed rating is near 106 mph on average which means your tires will blow up of you go over the speed rating.
my 22 Sierra SLT HD 25 Gas is the best truck I've ever owned and I have had GM HD's 04, 11, 15 and now the 22 - all were without issue

It's the king in 24 when it comes to gas and value.
Have you had any problems with oil consumption issues that people have talked about or the engine tick noise?
I had 0 oil consumption and I worked the truck extremely hard it did all the heavy lifting this summer for all my testing. I do the oil changes at 5k. No engine noise at all. We have a fleet of these at work, zero issues. The truck now has about 27k on it zero issues, noises or oil usage. I'm getting close to adding another l8t to the channel as we speak. Truck is the best gas HD out there.
Over 90 thousand miles not yet
Lights are part of pre trip for towing
That buckle to drive would be annoying for sure.
Man you need to get an iPhone lol. Wireless CarPlay does come on the screen but unless I was playing music from my phone it just plays whatever I had my radio on last. But all jokes aside it probably is some kind of setting on your phone.
The 36gal fuel tank on my chevy 3500HD silverado outlast my bladder so it works for me.
My 2024 ltz gaser ( 2500) doesn't even come close to the diesels as far as acceleration and power. It works for me as I seldom pull trailers but not a good choice for a truck that's actually worked hard
Tires determined the speed limits.
How's your speedometer vs your GPS? My truck is 2 miles under at 60mph and 1 mile off at 30mph
You don't need a truck if that BS is important to you. Get a Prius!
That's a 2024? IT doesn't have the updated interior or is that only in the higher trim levels?
Threw me off too, this is a lower trim level. You have to get a LT model at least for the new interior
I do not understand why truck manufacturers don’t put bigger tanks in them. People clearly want them.
Why does GM NOT put a 12volt plug in the 2500 hd????????
Took it out on the 24. Had it on all previous
The Custom and WT trim still has them. You can see it in his video between the usb and 120 volt outlet.
The refesh interior does lose it though. Which is dumb.
@@matthewanderson9912 Yeah new interior on the 24 upper trims lose it. Which is silly. I’m glad my 22 still has it though
My 2022 (High Country) has one, so it must have been dropped in the interior redo.
Longbed Fords have a 48 gallon tank, gas or diesel.
Bro if it’s something you can turn off then that shouldn’t be on this list at all. Only put things you can’t change
All you people bashing this guy for his honest opinion of this truck should go troll some other channel.
No smart wheel?
Can you lower the tire pressure on these ?
You can go up to the max psi cold of the tire. Typically the dealers do the minimum (on the door plate) to improve ride. You can go slightly lower, most likely your tpms light will stay on. I wouldn't recommend more than 5 to 10 lower than the door plate, because it could cause unusual and uneven tread wear.
It's a pain but could be used as a teift deterrent
This video aged well now after he bought a 2nd 7.3 with multiple issues on both.
26k on my 7.3. no problems yet, just a backup camera that was replaced under warranty
Fuel mileage?
I get around 12.5 in town 18ish on the highway 24 2500hd custom 4x4 6.6 gas Allison
With newer cars and trucks tracking and sending everything you do to the mothership, you probably don't want to do 98 mph.
No wonder a truck cost so much.the amount of useless shit thats on them is amazing
Or 1/2 of one?
Ill take a custom 6.6 gas. I cant have nothing nice.😂
Sounds like you are a Ford guy and have buyers' remorse?
No, just have to be honest about some dislikes.....I love the chevy, ots a better truck than the 22 ford zilla I had.
Should have been called work truck complaint’s
As far as the computer is concerned you may not be able to do that as of now gm redid the architect it's a smart computer now called global b it can now detect when someone is trying to change something and can lock them out
I'm sure it would be a pain...98 is fast enough for me. The tires are speed rating(s), so 112 max. But I wouldn't mess with it personally.
My half ton Ford F150 has a 36 gallon tank
If you had got the 2024 GMC instead of the Chevy, it would have come with the LED headlights. Hindsight 2020.
True, I did aftermarket bulbs the light is what I want and that did it....but I will give it to you on that the GMC headlights on sle and up are sweet for sure.
Ummmm.. Mine is a PRO version. Work Truck in Chevy language. 2024 GMC 3500 PRO 2WD 8FT BED DUAL REAR WHEEL.
@-Primer- that's pretty cool that they put them on all trims. my dad was a GMC guy all the way till the end.
the price.
Dude get a cool patriotic steering wheel cover and you need another gas tank? No you don't.
For the gas engines. Lifter failure requiring an engine rebuild. And transmission failure is a guarantee.
How do you know this"?
@@michaelwas8549 It happened to me and others I know. Do the research. Lifter and transmission failure is a major problem
Another new expert with no mechanical background
Bro wrong video, you are clearly responding to a dodge critique vid :) All dodge guys know to start putting money away from DAY ONE for a new trans in 2 to 3 years if you tow regularly.
98 mph, to be all honest, trucks are not built to go fast. Want to go fast, get a sports car
real shame you cant go over 98 mph.....whatever
Why did the bone heads at GMC delete 12v plug in??????
It’s there right next the usb under that little door you lift.
I love the Chevrolet Products (GM).
Have never had any issues or problems!
Go buy a Ford or Dodge truck if you are not happy.
It’s that simple.
No truck has no business doing over 70
Titan makes a larger tank
You like the word annoying!
Ford f150 has 36 gallon tank
Yes they do, loved that in my 2.7 eco.....could drove all day.
@@automotiveinquiries9673 are you keeping the 6.6 gm truck, probably a good push rod engine
@lyleswavel320 absolutely 💯...that truck will be here for awhile.
Dash looks cheap
why does this have a 2023 dash?
For 24 it got the news transmission, more tech and the exterior upgrade, but the custom and work truck kept this interior...
If you want to make a longer video get a ford.
Your clearly a Ford lover and are biased..."the steering wheel ugly" wtf
Ford and Toyota build better vehicles
Crap
These trucks hit 98 miles an hour in seconds
Honestly as im watching your video, you’re making a big joke of yourself. You wanna over 98mph in a heavy duty truck. You know that your tires speed rating is near 106 mph on average which means your tires will blow up of you go over the speed rating.
It’s a piece of Chevy brought to you by two time bankrupt government motors that makes junk
