Definitely think the worst thing I do is doubt myself. It's disheartening when you're not growing or gaining viewers, but there's always the enjoyment of whatever you're doing now and the hope of tomorrow. :p
DaleDystopiq This is exactly what I'm doing on my new Twitch channel. I'm doing it for the entertainment. I figured, hey, I'm going to be playing this game anyways, might as well stream to *possibly* get a viewer or two!
TheNaway18 Absolutely. That's was the entire point to me first wanting to stream. I've slowly been raising a community and it's great that we're just all having laughs over what I'm doing. One of the most rewarding and greatest feelings in the world. What types of games are you going through? Wouldn't mind hopping on someday.
I've been playing a lot of Ark: Survival Evolved. It's fairly new but you've probably heard of it. It's been pretty fun to do. Also, my Twitch is under the name Synocity which is my new self on the internet. What's yours, and what do you play? I can probably pop on over as well!
TheNaway18 I..actually haven't heard of it. I'll check it out ahah. My Twitch is under HeyyItsDale, and I've been doing a lot of Dark Souls recently, though I just started a bllind Fallout: New Vegas playthrough. No idea what I'm doing or where I'm going lol. Used to do some Legend of Mana speedruns too, which I try to fit in on the weekends when I have time!
jim i think you should make a vlogging channel you already have a following and i think youd be great your quite interesting and you can confidently talk in front of the camera
yeah man show your day to day when you get up what you eat i think it would be great you got an act for it :) been on youtube for a while i would suggest making another video if you watch like christianguzman a bodybuilder but his day in the life vlogs hes taken us with him and weve seen him grow and you really get a personal connection without actually connecting and he shows us his house his mum what hes eating his girlfreind his new gym the gym hes moving into hes prepared to meet people and train irl etc it just bring fan closer and i think youd be good for it
Let me tell you the story of Da7acoMAN. He was a younglad with a dream. To become a full time streamer. This young lad was also a college student. He also decided to leave his console brothers during the cripto mining wars. Due to his horrible timing he overpaid for a computer. He decided to not drop out of college because he got financial aid that could be used to support his streaming career. He did this and now is about to become a nutritionist without even knowing because all his focus was on his stream. So what we learned was be like Da7acoMAN, follow your dreams and you can become a nutritionist. Or go watch him on twitch, he doesn't want to become a nutritionist.
Thank god, someone who FINALLY talks straight about this subject & stays on topic. I'm an older guy (50+) who's been looking into doing streaming & it's been VERY difficult to get straight & complete answers on what you need to know. Well done sir. Kudos to you & your folks, who I am sure had a bunch to do with your good attitude & non-bs approach. Impressive. My thanks.
thanks for this Jim. I just started streaming myself. it was you that inspired me to start stream. See you when you're next live and I look forward to more help guides and tutorials :)
This helped me so much, I've been researching what type of set up I should have for twitch and all I see is "you need this much money to get all of this, or your stream won't be good" type of thing... But thanks for this video!
Thanks for the guide man, also thats for the encouragement you gave throughout the video, it really gave me confidence to start streaming and video making in the future
I can see the logic behind what you say with "don't go into it for money." However, I disagree with this concept, but perhaps it is just my case or my mentality. I'm looking more to make a career out of this. Making bank isn't my mindset, but rather using videos and streaming to have fun and to live a happy life, and then to continually give back to others to help them reach that happiness as well. The money aspect is going to be the means just to survive so I can continue to help others and continue to be happy. Other than that, money is of no value to me. The content ideas I have and wish to start are for the sake of entertaining others and doing things I feel are original and would be fun to make on a daily basis. Sure, making stuff that people want to see is undoubtedly going to go into that, because for the last 7 years I've made stuff purely for me and a middle finger to the public, and they didn't do much. There's no impact, no feedback, nothing. I think it's a matter of sitting down, digging deep in your thoughts, and finding out ideas that you would want to do that you also think others would want to see. And perhaps that's the silver line I want to ride as far as going into it "for the money." Sorry for a winded response, but this constantly comes up as something foolish to do, and I feel that it is incorrect if given the right mindset. I suppose I'll have to try it and see if my thoughts orient more towards money or towards what I see that my audience and myself want to do.
Glad I was never in streaming for the money. I just love talking about games with people. Thank you for your insight. I thought you brought up some good points.
Good stuff! You covered a lot and it's appreciated. I'm a long time UA-camr and a fairly new Twitch streamer. With everything going on with UA-cam right now, it's time to spread the old wings and branch out into new territory. ;)
I just started streaming and I set it up to where twitch saves my broadcasts temporarily. Then I go back and highlight them for a permanent save. I also did I test stream to see whether or not I should turn my mic or or down and to test the autosave. I stream on my ps4 and I have a 8-32 mb upload. Thanks for the tips really gonna help
Great tips! I'm starting out on both Twitch and UA-cam. However, I am putting Twitch as my priority because I've been uncomfortable with myself on camera and my voice on microphone, but now my confidence has shot up in the last couple of years I plan to get used to Twitch, I'd like 20+ dedicated followers who talk to me on chat, money doesn't matter for me.. One day I'll get into making videos on youtube for gaming.
Thanks for the tips, I honestly trying to work hard to become a youtuber/streamer. I really love making new friends and being silly but most importantly me.
Hey dude, ty for your explanations, i'm really up to a twitch career, fact is, idk what to do with my future, or actually i don't really like things that much but i feel like i am capable and ready for making a living out of streaming on a daily basis and i feel like i'd love doing this more than anything so ty for your vid, rly helpful, i'm almost 19, hoping i'll make it work, keep it up :d
Jim, this video was awesome and super helpful! I'm a stay-at-home dad of sorts and enjoy my games but just got ready to take it to the next level with Twitch and UA-cam. This was really uplifting and informational. It seems so easy but it discouraging at first to try to get views and followers when you have no base. This helped me out. After implementing these for just a couple of days I already have almost 100 views and a handful of followers. You're the man.
i'm starting to stream on twitch, and this video i found helpful. i'm mainly going to be streaming horror games and League of Legends videos. thank you for the helpful tips
because of this video i decided to try with doing youtube for gaming. ive always wanted to just didnt know how to start so if icould getmore tips for how to on an xbox one i have my first video out on. this video was awesome hope you go far man;)
I stream on Twitch and I get people who come back alot. But he's right about the internet. You need a good number if you're gonna stream. Streaming with my 1.5 is only good enough for people watching on phone.
I like the intro. I didn’t know anybody our age (assuming you’re somewhat around my age) still liked Eminem. I grew up listening to him. Great video too. I’m trying to start a Clone Hero stream. It’s not going so well. I’ve maxed at 5 viewers on my first stream and maxed at 3 viewers on my last one. (I’ve only done 2). I don’t know how to get the mic on my SteelSeries Arctis 3 to work with the stream and I have no webcam and my internet speeds are pretty bad. I also live away from the city so I can’t really get better internet speeds until I move out. I guess the best thing to do is to keep trying? I don’t really know what to do at this point. Oh, and my PC isn’t the greatest but it somewhat gets the job done. I spent $800 on it used and it has an AMD FX 8350 processor and I believe a Radeon r9 380 gpu and 32 gb of ram which is stupid but I didn’t know at the time.
This is the most information video that I saw in the past :D I am trying right now and hope I can be a successful streamer :D like 100-200 people when I stream and it will be a dream for me :)
hey man. you do very well with youtube and i hope you gain for subs along the way. i love your channel and everything you do but i just dont play runescape anymore but youre doing great keep up the good work
I have a few questions, 1. If i dont want to make money, can i stop that? because i want to do it for fun. 2. Will my videos be saved on my computer AND my twitch acount? 3. How do i record it, does twitch have something special for rec? Or do i have to basicly use fraps/bandicam/whatever the hell it takes?
Hey Jim, thanks for the video buddy. I just started my twitch and youtube today so i'm doing some research lol. Great video, helped me a bunch. Wish me luck! :D
JimSauce (fan girl/boy moment) Thanks Will, really has inspired me to get into it, I've loved every single one of your videos, what really pushed me to start streaming was when in one of your latest streams you let your little bro (i think) sit in your chair and talk to the chat, was so cute :P
thanks for the tips !!! was really helpful for a beginner like me, i just started with twitch and youtube und thats the kind of video i searched for !!! I got like 100+ Videos and no views and subs but its so fun to make and i hope in the future i can entertain some people !!! thanks
Am i the only want to stream because lonely playing alone even in multiplayer? I do have friends, but most of them got no pc or suitable pc for the game that i want to play with. And also to improve my english ahahahhah.

Just a heads up, from personal experience..Try really hard not to get disillusioned by big named streamers and then get discouraged when you don't even get one follower for a good while..keep at it..I dont really use my webcam and mic that (I know I should really start) much but I still keep a regular stream, stay on for a few hours even with zero people watching and I still manage to get atleast a few followers
Thank you so much for the tips!! Im a new streamer on twitch and im trying to stread with youtube.. maybe and i really needed a guild cause some =times i do bring myself down when i see that i dont get followers on a certain day, some days are just slow i guess, but this advixe will go a long way... Thank you
Jim I doubt you will see this comment but if you do. What do you think about streaming with out a face cam? I have everything ready to go but I don't have a camera yet. Do you think I should wait or just start and one day when I get one do a face reveal?
Will, UA-cam changed the terms of service, and they don't allow tagging in the description anymore (just letting you know, wouldn't want you to get into shit for it) Keep up the vids :D
I assume you have a schedule. But was just wondering how you came up with your schedule. Did you pick specific days because they suited you and worked around you. Or did you pick specific days because of how many people where watching / streaming a certain game. Thank you for you advice so far!
I wanted to start Twitch livestreaming just to film myself and my friends messing around in csgo. I was watching my own stream (filmed on gaming PC) from a laptop that was connected to another internet provider, and the stream was going just fine, but my friend says that the stream's audio is ok but it's video is frozen. NOTE: My upload speed is 2mbps, and I heard that is barely possible with that rate, but is that the case? I just wanted to make a small-ish channel for fun, but if 2mbps is laughable and impossible, it's ok, no biggy. I have a very busy job in life so I really don't have free time to become a streamer. :) Also thanks for the tips! :D
I can relate, I spent a lot for a gaming laptop but it's not strong enough to stream high end games where in if its a desktop its already overkill. :)))))
"It's like women. Wait, no. We're not getting into that"
David Bauer but ugly people can get it
Definitely think the worst thing I do is doubt myself. It's disheartening when you're not growing or gaining viewers, but there's always the enjoyment of whatever you're doing now and the hope of tomorrow. :p

What I like about you is that you actually explain and are mature unlike most cancerous UA-camrs
thanks for this Jim. I just started streaming myself. it was you that inspired me to start stream. See you when you're next live and I look forward to more help guides and tutorials :)
This helps me allot. I am just starting out streaming and this really encouraged by this. Thank you Jim Sauce.

I agree with this comment WHOLE HEARTEDLY. What you're saying here are the exact feelings I have going into this. (Streaming)
"It's like women... *scrunches eyes* nah, not even going to get into that" Already like this channel!
Wow very helpful! Ive noticed that young guys that do twitch understand how to make videos very well, simple, straightforward, and interesting! Great!
Excellent video. I'm hoping to have a stream up and running in the next few months and this helped a lot. You keep doing what you do man.
Best tip is don't do it for the money! (y)
Petr Vnučko what if people do it to make money? And it IS their job?
StaaanOziy - I think he's saying, don't go into it hoping to make money.
Glad I was never in streaming for the money. I just love talking about games with people. Thank you for your insight. I thought you brought up some good points.
Thank you so much for this jim, was so happy when you said you would do these vids, much appreciated

Am i the only want to stream because lonely playing alone even in multiplayer? I do have friends, but most of them got no pc or suitable pc for the game that i want to play with.
And also to improve my english ahahahhah.
2 questions. When will the UA-cam tips and tricks go on? And what did you use to create the animation in the beginning of the video?
I only have 4 mbps upload, and i can run 720p 25fps. nobody really complains about it. so 4 can work for you too. just make sure you have all your bit rate settings set accordingly.
thank you for this video... I needed this...
Thank you for the tips i just started with a group of friends on xbox
This was pretty helpful dude. Thank you.

Jim I doubt you will see this comment but if you do. What do you think about streaming with out a face cam? I have everything ready to go but I don't have a camera yet. Do you think I should wait or just start and one day when I get one do a face reveal?

Will, UA-cam changed the terms of service, and they don't allow tagging in the description anymore (just letting you know, wouldn't want you to get into shit for it)

I assume you have a schedule. But was just wondering how you came up with your schedule. Did you pick specific days because they suited you and worked around you. Or did you pick specific days because of how many people where watching / streaming a certain game. Thank you for you advice so far!
Aaaaah, i really miss Runescape! Was playing it for many years, still have my account, but dont play, maybe i will change that now:))
