The guitar harmonics you were able to add with the touch of a button are GREAT!
And thank you for saying "patches" instead of "performances".
WTF is up with manufacturers trying to come up with terms that are confusing for musicians???

Well spotted Adrian... oops! Suppose these things happen from time to time when you're rushing. I will upload a new video today of just all the audio playing, and no speaking, in STEREO!

This one I noticed that too LOL. The sounds coming from the modx do it no justice whatsoever

Le son de cette vidéo ne paraît pas être en stéréo? Difficile donc de se faire une idée précise des différentes sonorités de ce clavier.

Motif ES was released in 2003 having 1GB of user memory . MODX is released in 2018 having only 1GB of user memory over ES )))))). Strange right ? . With a 100$ cheap personal computer you can have 16 GB of memory if you want . But with this 2000$ synth you can't put more user memory space even if you want that .

No aftertouch. How do you have full control over the FM series if there is no aftertouch on the board? That technology is over 35 years old. At this stage it is just downright petty to remove such technology and then advertise it like you're going to get the true synth experience.

Bacardi Jr. It's crazy they drop it that's why I still use older synths like the korg x3 and karma roland d50. but I just orderd one of these caint wait to get it.

I have a motif xf8 and if you're looking for organ sounds I can somewhat tell you that unless they updated from the horrible sounds on the motif, they would have advertised it. Otherwise it's most likely just a patch and not a dedicated engine like the Nord series.

@@colbalt95 Where Yamaha soars in piano and FM sounds, the company is a bit lackluster in organ sounds. They're adequate in the mix of a live performance, but nothing you're going to use for Boston's Foreplay/Long Time.
I actually have a dedicated clone wheel organ as my second board for that reason.

Why do you crop aftertouch from a 2018 model synth ? What is the meaning of it.. If you claim the cost, I'd say avoid that useless light bulb in the center or the stupid touchscreen.. ( which is a tiny screen for fingers anyway )..
I'd go for Psr-s770 and have an arranger capability at least..

Aftertouch is expensive to implement(which is why ALL budget versions of flagship keyboards do not have this feature.)The LED light on the Superknob,is one of the least expensive parts of the MODX(so trading off for the aftertouch is not practical.)The 7" color touchscreen is stupid?Actually, this is the heart of the MODX,in terms of accessing most of the functionality of the MODX's presets,effects,settings,registrations//etc.,.It's very cost effective,to eliminate half the controls,in favor of accessing many of the functions through the touchscreen. This is how Yamaha was able to provide MODX users with all of the Montage's power,in a budget keyboard. If this does not suit your needs, than buy a Montage.

      Dear Philo,
From what I read, I guess EITHER your musical needs do not necessarily need aftertouch OR you simply are not a live keyboardist.
The logic of my stance is that ; it is quite awkward for a keyboard to be named as "synth" without an aftertouch. That is an invention to output the sound diversity and sonic depth of a synthesizer in the first place.. This is valid for all so-called synths out there.. They must have aftertouch or they are not a 100% synth technically..
And for the 7" screen, no synth player really needs an LCD touchscreen on the fly..
All in all; Cost-wise, I'm not sure but your explanation may be correct. However, from a keyboardist-minded perspective, aftertouch should not be substituted by a basic effects knob.
      Regards,

@@guclumelek79 The whole logic and objective of the MODX,is to provide a BUDGET synth that is both useful as a live instrument and for studio use.The 7" touchscreen was designed to replace some of the physical controls that are missing from the MODX and having a large touchscreen allows the user to quickly access live performance mode presets(which is very handy to have in a live situation.) Also...the MODX was also designed to replace the MOXF series and if Yamaha plans to include a song sequencer into the MODX in a future update, then a screen of this size is paramount.Consider this as well...there is a lot of deep editing features on the MODX(so would you really want to edit sounds on a display screen that is the size of a small calculator?I think not.)If you are on a budget and you want hands-free effects implementation, then you have 2 options..either ...buy a MODX and an EXPRESSION PEDAL....or buy something like a Korg Prologue.

Philo Beddoe My belief is that this is a great keyboard for an acceptable price only if this is an upgrade from the motif EX era...
BUT it is still not a synth. I love the sound and user friendly approach of most Yamaha’s -including mine-.. But to be frank, this is not an enough step forward from a Motif XS/XF or Moxf for the money required..
What I only see is an LCD touchscreen addition, which is not only a priority, but also an offer that has already been on the market by competition for a long time..

    • @guclumelek79
      @guclumelek79 5 років тому

David Faustino crap attitude is yours when your answer is compared to @PhiloBeddoe.
You may disagree an idea, but you need to put an alternative argument so that your stance may prove a point.
Otherwise you may easily hurt feelings of a person with your reckless logic, who may not have legs/feet etc. ?!?
Luckily I have listened my friends and went for a better keyboard option.
And even more lucky, I still have my legs and feet..
