Roland TD-17 Electronic Drum Kit Review
Im a beginner and have no ideas about drums so it's a big help for me to see just the layout of how things in relationship to which sound they produce
Great review!!
released in 2023 and still have a damn usb micro? No, i wont buy anything that isnt usb c in 2024.
I received my FGDP-30 today. What settings do I have to make to control the pitch via aftertouch? Like in the video from 15:00 to 16:05. Regards Markus
Because right now midi has become the thing, especially with midi 2 being here upon us, we’ll just to say how does it work in conjunction with midi? Midi 2 in particular? Is it able to be used with multiple daws on iPad? Will it slot into AUM, AND WITH LOOPY PRO?
That lofi effect for pianos is just gorgeous
Thk for this video . ❤❤❤
Does the app work on your phone???
You need to speak louder, raise the volume on the Microphone or get closer
Guess you're muting tracks when recording to DAW? Hope multitrack out (and class compliance to go out of a Model 16) are planned, they would be great. As it is it's still a ludicrously dope wee beast, we'll played Yamaha. The ui is tight af.
I purchased this thing an hour ago because of the 15 min demo on their page ... Now I'm giddy after watching your review 😂 I can't wait to get my hands on this thing!! 🙌✨ Great review man ✌️
does it do polyphonic samples, eg play a sample as a chord?
As a portable device, how is the headphone out on this?
Really great dem. Never seen Sappo prior to this but enjoy watching him have fun. breaking the mould. love the ninja mode flexing into full kitchen when you attach to a laptop. ala modal engineering app for their synths. After Namm was bit quiet on the synth front last year, wonder if this will be best in show in 24.
Ordered one! 🥳
Is it possible to use different keys in one pattern? Or to use different sounds in different patterns for the same channel? Does it have an arpeggiator? Can you record notes not in tempo (as in: enter note by note as opposed to playing note by note)? Can you connect MIDI keyboard via USB (namely, DGX-650) without a converter?
whats the body made of..thing is Fire AF
diamond
So the bpm meter LEDs show a range from 5 - 300. So half lit is 150bpm... So if I want to set 89 or 124 i have to guess or open the app?
How loud is the internal speaker? Is it good ?
is it standalone?
Can you play back a sample chromatically?
already pre ordered but can you export videos from ipad or iphone or pc only ? also in a update the most requested feat will be the ability to bring samples over to the drum track and not just the sample slots also a way to resample drum slots
Can it lofi?
Placed my preorder already. Anyone have any idea when they'll be ready to ship?
Can you mute and solo each track to import into the daw? So you have each individual track
Lame sounds
Like u could do better.
for me its nice and clean sound. better to start with it and distort or modulate it with ur own flavour
Does it have time-stretching and pitch-shifting for the samples?
You cant load your own samplepacks in it?
You can, their website says you can even transfer samples over WiFi. That’s a game changer for me, don’t have to disconnect it from my other gear and bring to my computer to load up some samples
I hope yamaha keeps updating and innovatin their "music production studio" category❤
This happen when ou abandon your users, haha, here a sad Opz user, happy for discover yamaha have worked on this 👏
u changing governments? thats illegal
This is surprisingly unique design for Yamaha. I applaud their efforts to dethrone Teenage Engineering.
Is it multitimbral? Read the manual and all parts are assigned to different midichannels, so it should be able to use it as a 11 channel sound module? (7 drums, 3 synths and sampler). You skipped the midi menu in the video so didn't get a chance to look at the options. Otherwise, excellent video!
Very cool and well thought out product
Hammer gear
Nice,oh yeah!
There is nothing similar to the OP-1 or OP-Z other than a long rectangle and it is much more advanced. It's rude to compare the legendary company that created the DX7 to a company that can't even install a fader properly.
It doesn’t exactly look like those, but it definitely looks like a TE design. And Yamaha knows this too. But they did do their own thing, just in a similar design language.
shots fired!
Can Music Matter re-upload with louder audio?
Is that app iOS only or Android as well?
iOS android and PC and Mac
@javonscott4777 Great! Since I am an Android user, that's a critical issue for me 👍
what about linux?@@javonscott4777
Yamaha stole TE's lunch with this one, musical production shots fired 😂
Honestly mate, one of the best gear reviews I've seen. I usually tune out after a bit. One of the few that makes me consider having a look at a purchase. Thank you.
your welcome
I thought this was a teenage engineer product😂
Color scheme is the same as the EP-133. LOL But you can get it in black /gray too
How durable do you think his knobs are for pushing to sample or play?
Yamaha has a decent reputation for durability. Wouldn’t really worry about it too much. Never owned any Yamaha gear, but plenty of other gear and never had any knobs break on anything. That just seems like a TE thing tbh
@@svenmify thanks!
Ok, ok...wow! The deeper you go with this groovebox, the better it gets.
It is important to know how easy it is to push those knobs when you are looking for a sound
We need more stuff like this from Yamaha. Do a series. Refine these. Keep pushing boundaries. TE has become too stale and arrogant these days. We need you guys to go beyond their poorly executed gear
Yamaha just stole TE's lunch, but its funny because I was just saying how the KO 2 (po 133) seemed like a modernized Yamaha SU 700 (which I use to this day), not mad at that but Yamaha seems intent on coming for the TE groove market, and I love both companies products btw .
@@djExquiz I used to have a real crush on TE. But they proved arrogant and unreliable. They need to be pushed to a limit where they start to care again. And this type of product is just what the market needs : TE product but with reliable software and sturdy build quality
@@Studio_4to1 Don't get me wrong I feel the same, I could never justify in my mind the price of the OP1 but I own about every Pocket Operator that they came out with starting with the PO 12 drum machine, I had long sung their praises before the PO 33 became a lofi Hip Hop community favorite, I have also been along time fan of Yamaha's older groovebox gear. and their synths, and although the Montage, Motif, etc series has been great, and I love Cubase also, I feel that Yamaha has needed to push itself in a new direction musically and do more of what Roland has, expanded for DJs, casual and serious beatmaakers, and hardcore bonified skilled pianists and stage performers alike, so I love the new Seqtrack I think Yamaha is going in a more consumer friendly, less somewhat elitist, direction with this. Roland and Akai I think have learned since the early 2000s that you can have great flagship gear (MPC 5000 cough, ahem Akai, Roland multiple Fantoms) but lose massive market share because casuals and beginners can't really afford your stuff to build a loyal brand following.
akai is the goat. they coming with the mpc micro to fit in your pocket@@djExquiz
@@callmemurphz sounds good hope they launch it at NAMM, been hearing about it since last year, best portable Akai product since MPC 500 (which had wasted potential).
I hope they will support the app for a very long time
I think you've done something weird with the video render where Sappo's voice is partially out of phase in the L/R channels, just sounds a bit quiet and even quieter and more distant on devices that sum to mono.
Holy shit, this video is very low on volume
It looks like an OP-Z on steroids 😆
The software editor even looks like Teenage Engineering’s design language. It’s a bit shameless, tbh. ; I imagine TE won’t be too happy - especially with how far Yamaha undercut their pricing.
@@AdamsOlympia Competition is all good for the consumer though. It stops companies resting on their laurels. Same thing could be said about TE. Their design language is pure Dieter Rams
@@AdamsOlympia Anything that makes TE unhappy Im all for TBH.
@@DanChippendaleMusic fair enough. I honestly hope someone does a good, affordable take on the OP1 … It’d be an amazing thing to have if it weren’t so overpriced. Seqtrak looks nice at first glance but it’s a shame most of the depth is locked behind the software editor - and If I’m using an iPad for sound design, I might as well load Drambo and AUV3 plugins.
@@AdamsOlympia I find it strange that no other company has tried to make an OP1 type device. A small velocity sensitive keyboard. 8 tracks. Synth engines. Stock samples, Sampler, effects. This does sound a lot like the above but I'm not keen on the look of the trig layout. Yamaha should have put some of their amazing keyboard skills into this. Seems like a miss opportunity.
