    Happy to see someone, who likes the special sounds and effects. The rest of youtube videos deals with piano sound. They even compare piano sound of different synthis. Who cares!? I don't understand nothing🤪 For me the piano is a little extra on a synthi. Nothing more . The Rest... 99 % is high tech. Who buys a synthi in order to play piano??? 40 years ago... starting playing Organ... electric... not electronic. Grown up with sound mixtures and rhythm maschine. Even the church organs have more to offer than simple sounds. jean michel jarre...brad fiedel... a. s. o. THAT is the main task for Synthesizers!

    This is an awesome keyboard. The best value in its price range. I have the Modx7 and love it. Only issues I have is not all sound can do the Seamless Sound Switching. Apparently if I update to 2.5 version it will resolve some of this.

    • @joonglegamer9898
      @joonglegamer9898 3 роки тому +2

      The Seamless Sound Switching depends on the number of sound-slots you're using, Your MODX has 16 assignable sound slots (layers on layers if you like). In order for SSS to work properly, you need to have at least 8 of those 16 free for the actual sound switching, so say you have 8 of them filled up, there needs to be 8 free so the switching can seem friction free and actually transition over to the next 8 free slots. (You don't see this in action, but you can test it, and then you'll know what I meant by all of this).
      Also - you need enough polyphony to do SSS. SSS uses up twice the polyphonics of the keyboards capabilites so to speak, meaning, if you were to use 64 of them you need 64 reserved for the actual switching. In total - 128 Polyphony (voice channels) if that makes sense to you?

    Yamaha resellers REALLY need to stop focussing on "the suberknob" sales pitch, it's over used and detracts from the REAL powers Montage and MODX have. The REAL power behind these instruments is that every KNOB is ASSIGNABLE and the so called superknobs function is actually more of a slider between fully animatable mixing actions and settings.
    Besides, the knob itself is rather useless because you want BOTH HANDS on the keyboard, so what most of us do (I'm a Montage owner) is to use the REAR Superknob-input and assign a VOLUME PEDAL to it, that way we can control that "mixing/variable/animatable" superknob with our feet, changing / animating between various settings of our performance.
    All those knobs you see on the Montage / MODX there - you can ANIMATE and fully control INDIVIDUALLY, so say - you want your Yamaha to be more like an ANALOG synthesizer with parameters adjustable "On-The-Fly" you can ASSIGN EACH KNOB and even SLIDERS to have a specific function, any funtion you'd ever want in fact.
    What the "Superknob" functionality does, is act like a MASTER-SLIDER for ALL of the KNOBS, meaning you can ANIMATE between operating ALL of the KNOBS at the same time, with the superknob.
    I hope that made more sense to people watching/reading this.

      Do you know if the modx allows you to use an external midi controller to control all the parameters in the software of modx? For example, using a midi control surface such as a novation launch control xl to control the synth parameters of each element such as filter cutoff, envelope adsr, effects, etc.

    Can an experienced pro advise me? I'm very inexperienced but hoping to do solo piano/singing gigs in a few years. Likely 1/2 acoustic piano songs with a mix of 70s-90s keyboards/organs and a few 2000s keys. Is it generally smarter to (for ex.) buy a $1000 digital piano and a $1500 synth for this, versus just buying a $2500 stage piano instead? What's the easier setup to use live? Which will give me higher quality sounds for what I'm aiming for? Thank you!

    • @sanmarinojr
      @sanmarinojr 3 роки тому +1

      If you plan to be a one man band you should opt for an entertainer keyboard which is a very different keyboard then modx . That's of course if you want to play with backing tracks .

    • @detomaso_6235
      @detomaso_6235 3 роки тому +1

      @@sanmarinojr An arranger keyboard like a Korg Pa1000 or a Yamaha PSRSX900? I think they're very cool. I know they're popular outside the US. But I see posts from (USA) forum pros about them & they think that it is unprofessional to use backing tracks as a performer. They don't respect them except as home hobby keyboards. Those folks seem to think a stage piano is more professional, or a digital piano/synth combo is.

    • @sanmarinojr
      @sanmarinojr 3 роки тому +1

      @@detomaso_6235 @detomaso _ yes , that's correct . It's a cheesy sound indeed , but if the gig demands it it doesn't really matter. Nothing can replace a live band or solo playing . It all depends on the setting you're gonna perform in .
      If you want solo piano with voice that's fine . Mind that it's very hard though compared to using tracks , cause that means you have to be a very good player and not think about the playing , but the singing and grabbing your audience. Normally you ain't making no party without a beat , either a drum machine or backing tracks from a laptop/tablet/keyboard if that what the gig is about .
      As you said you would like to use pianos, organs , sounds and different stuff that normally is used in a band setting or tracks setting . If you gonna play an acoustic piano with a voice only both the modx and the entertainers are overkill , and not good keybeds anyway for that thing.
      If you want to join a band in the future I'd never suggest an entertainer keyboard , but that depends entirely on your plans and situation . Check out venues you would like to perform in and see how it goes.

    • @Wulfcry
      @Wulfcry 3 роки тому +6

      learn small things, start by taking a preset play with the parameters using knobs and save those sounds, Doing that learns to navigate the instrument until you got familiar with the control surface.
      Next navigating the instrument is easy you're ready to dive into awm2 and explore a sound by editing each element.
      Here you'll discover stacking eight elements (sounds) is a similar thing to editing preset. That what it means to learn small things. Any question you have by then is a novice question cause you've put the effort in to learn this.
      If you didn't take those steps learning like everyone knows how to learn something, it's probably not into you're interest a wooden flute would be a good starting instrument instead.

      Yes it is. I had the same first year with the MONTAGE, but that's a FEATURE, because with your MODX/Montage you have a CRAZY super-powerful synth that can do it all. And by ALL - I mean everything. They have literally made everything customizable, and that will give you headaces because of the MASSIVE menues (there are literally menues upon menues, with even more hidden menues) for basically everything.
      It's an instrument you GROW with, it's not for everyone. If you want instant-gratification, an Arranger is what you may be wanting, like the Yamaha GENOS or cheaper models.

But This super knob and changing the sounds into some kind of crazy high pitch/filtered/resonated non melodic sound just seems over used and I can't see using it at all in any of the music I play. Unfortunately there is no video of what this "machine" (not Instrument) is NOT able to do. Simple things ... small, tiny little things. Two weeks ... and I found out that even simple features of an 40 years organ of mine can, those "flagships" cannot. E.g. control master volume via FC (is a big science for Yamaha) ... or "key hold" (apparently not existing). To fumble with this blinking something called "superknob" you would first need a free hand ... organists prefer the left one ... possible with sophisticated automatic accompaniment. You can choose between "impossible" or "years of studying information science to realize some". So ... Controller Arps cannot be held ... at least not with a sound. Even to find the function "shift arp hold" is not an easy task ... and as I said: has no function with the best sounding arps of this machine (under thousands of thousands of them). Did one human ever heard them all? All the same ... as a single performer I need a complete instrument with clear determined functions.
    Without a DAW this machine is less practical for a single performer than a much cheaper yamaha keyboard with automatic style accompaniment.
    Shall I continue? With simple abilities like "changing splits in scenes" I could do magical things with just a tip of my finger. No more problems with 8-part-limit. Yes ... eight ... not 16. Faster filled than you can say "oops" ;)
    At the end you see those synthi guys among many other musicians with many cables connected in all directions, playing some chords or piano bling bling. Or a DJ who controlls a rack of Synths with his DAW. Nothing for a single performer ... and that because small, tiny, litte things are missing.
