  • This week we stay at Gray Farm, Trethurgy, Cornwall using this as a base for visiting the Eden Project where we were both educated with new information about worldwide climates.
    We later found a lovely little park up about a mile and a half along the Camel trail from Padstow. We discovered that Rick Stein has many businesses in this small town and sampled his fish and chips with fish fresh from the sea that day. I (Kath) also had a beautiful Cornish cream tea.
    This is episode 116 in a series of videos cataloguing our post retirement adventures. We are Kath and Sue and we are travelling the UK with our two dogs Archie and Fudge and living full time in our Burstner Elegance Motorhome. We have given up conventional living for a new van-life, enjoying the freedom of the road and plenty of time outdoors taking in the beautiful countryside the UK has to offer.

    I have very happy memories of riding bikes along the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow when our girls were small, the funniest being when my husband hired a tandem! I was on the back and laughed all the way because he was peddling furiously and I was sat with my legs stretched out enjoying the ride. I still laugh today when I think about it, mean I know but great fun. 🎉🎉

      The Eden Project is truly a special place, quiet when we were there but we could imagine the outside gardens in the summer being almost as interesting as the biomes. As for the fish and chips... it was lovely. Cream tea hit the mark too. Thanks for comments as always. Much appreciated. 🤗🙏🚌❤️

      @@MotorhomeMums It’s probably really busy in the summer I would think. It really was a lovely place.

    Brought back lovely memories of holidaying in the area and our trip to Eden. I was absolutely terrified on the platform as I'm scared of heights. I must say though, you really need to let your tea brew a bit longer, looked like you were pouring hot water from the teapot 🤣🤣

    Many Happy memories from this vlog! Look forward to trying Cherry Blossom in the summer! Glad you made it to the ‘top’ of Eden - went there myself a few years ago on a quiet rainy day - was lovely - last year we took my nephew and the queue was nearly 2 hours (I stood patiently in the rain with a wet dog! 😂) - look forward to the next vlog! 🤣🤣impressed your nephew was up for a 2 hour queue. When I saw the size of the car parks and the fact that they run a bus service I did think it could get extremely busy. Archie and Fudge send their love to Polly. 🤗🙏🚌❤️

    Aaaaaaah Cornwall! One of our absolute favourite places to visit! especially out of season! I recall a visit to the Eden Project many years ago- our younger son was just finishing Uni (and he was 40 in Dec!) so a long time ago! Anne & went in one day and I looked after our little doggies. It was a boiling hot day and they baked in those Domes! The following day I went and it was a very overcast day but therefore a MUCH more comfortable visit! Fascinating place and they’ve clearly added a lot to it since we were there. It’s great to find a lot more places are dog friendly now too isn’t it? Have you been to The Lost Gardens of Heligan? An interesting place to spend some time (along with many dog friendly gardens in Cornwall). I recognised where you were as soon as the camera came on in Padstow in the car park but need to hear what you said again as I didn’t understand the 24hr parking but not between certain hours?!🤣 Tintagel car parks (all bar one) welcome overnight stays for a v reasonable charge (although we always stay at the campsite at Trethevy as we love the views from there and direct access to the coastal path). Can’t wait to get down there in a month or so. Praying Sasha has recovered from a back problem she’s being investigated for😢🐶❤️ at the moment though so she can enjoy the wonderful beaches. Our poor baby really suffered on a recent trip to Dorset. Oh how I wish they had voices and could tell us exactly what’s hurting bless them all. Archie is such a brave lad and it’s great to see you getting him out and about as much as possible with his buggy. Cornwall is Sasha’s home county and we love taking her to enjoy the fantastic beaches but we must make sure she’s ok before any mad racing around.
    I Do hope the weather gives you some respite very soon and that you’re recovered from the bug you seemed to be suffering from Kath. ❤ Take care (and do hope you got to sample a pasty too?!) xx

      Hi Anna, no we haven’t been to the Lost Gardens if Heligan, one to add to the list for our next visit. The car park in Padstow was odd as you could pay to park for 24 hours, but it specifically stated Motorhomes were not permitted between certain hours. In essence, I think they are against staying there overnight which is a shame when they do have a couple of designated bays. Sorry to hear Sasha is suffering at the moment. Hope you find out what the problem is and get it sorted. Archie and Fudge sending their best wishes and praying for a speedy recovery. 🤗🙏🚌❤️

      Thanks. No haven’t been to the Lizard yet so must add to our list for the next time. We have had a few ‘breathe in’ moments in Cornwall but thankfully escaped without scrapes. Padstow was lovely but the cream tea stole the show. 😜🙏🚌❤️

    All this rain has been getting a bit much in a van hasn't it 😬😂 Glad you've still been getting out and about and lovely to see you visit Cornwall. I did laugh at the "no overnight" in Padstow, but letting you pay for 24 hours and having designated bays. I mean, what? Talk about giving something then taking it away - there were a couple of places like that in Scotland we passed through.
    Lovely place though!
    Can I ask how much the fish and chips was? I'd be very curious to try but reckon Stephen would look at the price and drag me away 😂
    Thank you for showing the Eden Project. I knew it was big but there's a lot more there than I realised!

      Some parking restrictions are bonkers. Britain really does need to catch on. The Eden project was better than I’d expected and I know it would be much better in the summer but not sure I’d have coped with the crowds. The fish and chips was extortionate. I didn’t know til you just asked but £27.40 for my fish (which you saw in video) a grilled fish and one large portion of chips. I’m glad Sue didn’t tell me at the time. I might have choked! 🤣. Happy travels. 🤗🙏🚌❤️

    • @MotorhomeMums
      @MotorhomeMums  3 місяці тому +1

      Awww. Thank you. They both have their moments. The thing of Fudge's collar is a tracker. We re-homed her when she was 10 months old and found she had a very high prey drive and we once lost her for 50 minutes when she chased after a deer. We still have the tracker for peace of mind, but thankfully she is much improved and stays very close....unless she smells any chance of food, typical Lab now!🤗🙏🚌❤️
