She would tap me on my shoulder and then walk a few feet away. She knew I couldn’t see anything and she loved my expression on my face when I would turn my head and say hello. Eventually after I stood there confused for a minute she would speak up and laugh about it. The first time or second time it happened I laughed it off too, but then when this kept being a regular thing it quite frankly annoyed the heck out of me and I had to say something! I'm also the second vice president of the students division of my state affiliate, so I'm also working on making sure that resolution stays with the nfb, and we're also talking with Uber about it. I just wanted to let you know that your video is very very encouraging, and I just want to thank you so much for changing perception on blindness. I am changing perception of blindness with the nfb, but you are awesome.
I’m not trying to be rude, but it makes me so happy that she forgets that she is blind. It’s so comfortable knowing that she doesn’t feel any different. Love your videos, and Arabella is so darn cute.
I work in retail, and I have had other supervisors tell me that I'm not supposed to ask customers if their dogs are service animals. I'm thankful for this Uber lady talking about how you are within your rights to ask if an animal is a service animal.
@@maxlgbtlaw9221 because pets don't belong in a grocery store. They create a health risk and can bother other customers. Service animals are specially trained for a job and won't generally cause problems, but the same can't be said of pets, and pets aren't providing a necessary service that gives them a reason to be there.
I love watching you’re videos they are actually really interesting to me on how you deal with daily tasks even if it’s not easy you still keep going and it motivates me that whatever you put you’re mind to you can happen especially how nice and joyful you are through it all you’re a big inspiration to me thank you for making these videos 😊
I can remember a time where I went in to a store, and if you were disabled it gave you extra time to return and/or exchange an item. The employee looked at this individual who was quietly telling him that he was disabled so other people wouldn't hear said out loud 'are you really disabled' ... It was shocking ... Some businesses can be so rude! 🤔😕
The Chick-fil-A lady that helped you order, was very very thoughtful to you and sweet. She seems really really nice. I've been to a Chick-fil-A restaurant, they are awesome.
Not many would allow the public into their life. Thank you for revealing what it is like being disabled. You're performing a public service actually by elevating our consciousness socially & spiritually. Sometimes we're teachers, sometimes we're students, but we're always learning.
Joy , omg me and you say the same thing when conversations become a little controversial as well by saying its touchy and try to avoid the disagreement all together. Your such a sweet heart ☺️
You live in Vancouver? Me too! I'm so happy to see that you're local! Hopefully I'll see you and your wonder pup out and about some time so I can say hello!
Great video Joy! I love the service dog conversation. I work at a restaurant and this happens all the time! Or just in general I’ll be in Walmart or Dollar Tree and there’s just a dog in a cart or walking along and I just wonder why? People who have legitimate needs and have worked hard to obtain/train their dogs need to have those rights protected. The people who cannot leave their dog at home and act like the rules don’t apply to them are a real issue in our society today. I hope that more education will occur to help resolve these issues.
Hi Joy. I continue to be in awe at how openly you talk about eating without sight, or calling attention to your blindness at the drive-through and with the driver. I wish I had that freedom. I thank you for educating others; at the same time, I feel like a creature from another planet when my blindness has to be explained. I know you've been through a whole lot; so have I. However, I am renewing my request to speak to you either through Facetime / Skype, or over the phone. I've been out of treatment for 2 months now, and speaking to you would help my recovery immensely!! Thanks.
I work at the voting polls every year. This year a blind woman and her husband came in, I offered to set her up at the voice activated braille screen and they asked if the husband could just read it and mark it. I set them up in our overflow room and a lady got mad because he was reading to her. I was dumbfounded.
@@JoyRoss because theres no talking politics in a polling place. This lady would ask me to interpret some of the measures, I apologized and let her know I can't discuss anything and reminded her, theres no talking allowed. When I allowed this man to read to his blind wife, in a separate room with only a few people in it, she said it wasnt fair. Like really, it's not fair????
Your story about the airport really surprised me! I read an article about a girl at my school who has to carry her paperwork everywhere because shes constantly asked for it.
I hope this makes you laugh... I just subscribed to your channel a couple days ago and when the notification came up worded "ordering blindly and chatting about fake service dogs" I thought it was one of my humorous channel's saying that like it was a joke... I was thinking, "what's funny about that? I know they're super nice at Chik FIL A but how is that a prank?!?" I was going to see what it was about and unsubscribe... Only to realize it's you! I'm am idiot! I absolutely love your channel and the way you help us see the world from your point of view! I binged a ton of your videos the other night, crying along with you and cheering on the folks that are blessings along your way. Thank you so much for sharing your life... It's an incredible journey!
Joy this is a very important subject for us blind people. Our guide dogs do not need paperwork. The only thing anyone can do is ask two questions. Are you blind and what does the animal do for you. Service dogs are not guide dogs. If a person is so weak they need a puppy to go in public, that is a reason for medication. Service dogs are not trained and attack people all the time. My first dog was attacked at my side by one. People always accuse me of not being blind because I am super fit and run marathons, walk around with a cane ... People think blindness is a disability with symptoms. We are in no way disabled. Take you... You going out there as you do is beneficial to all of us in our little blind world. You were my inspiration for picking up a smart phone and going with it for everything. Now I want to learn how to use it steady and accurate for making videos. My spacial awareness is way up there so I can aim one but I think I can't keep it steady or directly aimed. I heard you in one vid saying you reach out touch it and can maintain its location. Very steady and accurate. My wife says you are flawless in your orientation and distancing. Even though you cover girly stuff your vids are so cool. I don't think I am the only blind person that you positively influence. When we finally get our own country just for the blind, no VI, you can be the president. Wishing you and your beautiful family and awesome year to come. Blessings
Your comment really put the biggest smile on my face and even made me laugh, especially about the president thing LOL. Everything you said was so true, and I see my platform as such an honor. I know it’s going to take so many of us within the blind community to truly make a difference, so I am so happy you are considering picking up your iPhone to vlog as well. I will tell you something, it definitely has taken me years of practice to master my filming and editing skills. I just encourage you to get out there and start trying, let your wife analyze your videos and give you tips and pointers so you can perfect your skills overtime. Thanks again for making me smile, I love getting to know you guys so much! Praying your new year is filled with so many blessings and so much joy! Take care and God bless :-)

Your driver and you made a great point! Also with having an un-trained non-guide dog in there if someone with an actual guide dog comes your guide dog will not know how to respond with this wild animal that isn't behaving properly because it's not play-time!
I believe you can add a few stops on uber now so that you can just continue and the driver doesn’t have to keep completing the trip! That is easier for me and it is cheaper than paying the base fee every time you request a new ride. I love your channel! My medical alert service dog is in training right now. I love watching videos that can show me tips for when she is placed.
As a person with a noticeable disability I have children come up to me and ask about my crutches. The parents are like "Shhh!! Don't ask her that. It's rude!!" I'm 30 years old. I have learned to simplify things and let things roll off.

First of all, thank you for posting these educational videos. I'm not blind but find them very useful. Then, I can't understand why people would tell you in the comments that you're not blind. Some people choose what's real and what's not to match their world view instead of forming their world view from evidence. Don't bother about them.

“Joy pop your eye out” honestly best quote I’ve ever heard
I work in retail, and I have had other supervisors tell me that I'm not supposed to ask customers if their dogs are service animals.
I'm thankful for this Uber lady talking about how you are within your rights to ask if an animal is a service animal.
@@maxlgbtlaw9221 because pets don't belong in a grocery store. They create a health risk and can bother other customers. Service animals are specially trained for a job and won't generally cause problems, but the same can't be said of pets, and pets aren't providing a necessary service that gives them a reason to be there.
Awe joy ! You are so sweet, I wish you were my mom sometimes, god bless you 😘❤️
I love watching you’re videos they are actually really interesting to me on how you deal with daily tasks even if it’s not easy you still keep going and it motivates me that whatever you put you’re mind to you can happen especially how nice and joyful you are through it all you’re a big inspiration to me thank you for making these videos 😊
I've been to a Chick-fil-A restaurant, they are awesome.
awh your daughter is so polite at the end!
The drive thru girl sounded very sweet. I love your Uber driver's laugh too :)
Wow 10/10 for the girl working the drive thru! So sweet :)
I wish there was a Chick-fil-A by me. I hear they are really good.
kelperdude They are amazing!
The food looks good but they donate to anti lgbt groups
Hi Joy whata great video I will enjoyed this video that you did you’re a awesome person I love your voice.
Husband: "Pop your eye out!"
Joy: "I am on it!"
That's a beautiful couple... Loved it!
what's up Brianna? Love how are you are so nice to people. Including those people who need you. Including joy here.
thats probably the nicest drive-in worker i've ever heard
Thanks.
This is the one in Vancouver, Wa..so cool!
I work at the voting polls every year. This year a blind woman and her husband came in, I offered to set her up at the voice activated braille screen and they asked if the husband could just read it and mark it. I set them up in our overflow room and a lady got mad because he was reading to her. I was dumbfounded.
Really? Why did that upset the lady?
@@JoyRoss because theres no talking politics in a polling place. This lady would ask me to interpret some of the measures, I apologized and let her know I can't discuss anything and reminded her, theres no talking allowed. When I allowed this man to read to his blind wife, in a separate room with only a few people in it, she said it wasnt fair. Like really, it's not fair????
Wow! Definitely different situations there.
Arabella is so precious she is so sweet❤️
Your story about the airport really surprised me! I read an article about a girl at my school who has to carry her paperwork everywhere because shes constantly asked for it.
The Uber driver seem to know the law well which is good because a lot of people don’t
I love the journey and the trip of life you’ve on and i look forward to see the rest of your journey soon 🔥
That’s so awesome! Thank you :-)
Oh yeah yeah
I really want you to collab with Molly!
Love the chick fil A girls enthusiasm
What does it mean for it to be “assembled”? Since you’re changing the order does that just ensure it is all together?
Bless that awesome driver and her wife
that Chick-fil-A lady was very very nice to you joy. You should order there more often. I wish we had one in Illinois, but unfortunately, we don't.
Service dogs absolutely are trained. If a dog is aggressive it is not a service dog.
this is amazing, love your videos as always
Thank you :-)
Awesome thank you❤️❤️❤️
The Uber Driver was really sweet and the girl on the drive thru intercom sounds adorable
I love Chick-fil-A!!
I have my dog polly who is a service dog for severe ptsd and medical alert . She is doing well and still learning . You inspire me I l is wag Hong your videos. Polly makes my life better .
Your driver and you made a great point! Also with having an un-trained non-guide dog in there if someone with an actual guide dog comes your guide dog will not know how to respond with this wild animal that isn't behaving properly because it's not play-time!
Arabella is priceless, Joy!
Chick-fill-a, PORTUGAL NEEDS YA ❤️
I'm Canadian and we don't have Chick Fil A but this was the most pleasant drive through experience ever!
As a person with a noticeable disability I have children come up to me and ask about my crutches. The parents are like "Shhh!! Don't ask her that. It's rude!!" I'm 30 years old. I have learned to simplify things and let things roll off.
Hello joy that was a great Uber driver you had being that it was only her third day. Joy you amaze me of how you do things and how you’re very independent. You are a very inspiring woman.
we were on a road trip and we had to stop at mcdonalds for food and to use the bathroom and we brought my dog inside. but he’s really small and he was in a carrying bag. he’s quiet and just a pup
Wouldn’t it be discrimination to turn down an Uber passenger only after learning they’re blind? That’s bullshit.
Love your story
Thank you I’m so glad :-)
Thank you for the education on services animals.
Joys voice is so beautiful. 😍
Your such a sweet person!!!! 🥰
Awe, thank you, there’s so much negativity in this world I want to be a positive light wherever I can 💛
I wish uber did it so you can order the uber bit have a specific driver
I love Chick-fil-A yes the best I had some kind of a bowl
Every UBER driver who refuses to take guide dogs should lose the licence to transport people at all!
What a wonderful title! Chick Fil A + a convo about fake service dogs.
Awesome Uber driver, so considerate
Omg, your daughter is gorgeous. I love her hair an glasses!!
First of all, thank you for posting these educational videos. I'm not blind but find them very useful. Then, I can't understand why people would tell you in the comments that you're not blind. Some people choose what's real and what's not to match their world view instead of forming their world view from evidence. Don't bother about them.
I’m not uncomfortable with dogs in restaurants
Danielle Perez I am because when I’m eating I don’t want those cute glossy beady eyes to stare me down while I eat!
It makes me more comfortable, if anything
2:43 i want this friendly Service where i life.
have you tried the Chick-fil-A sauce yet? I haven't. I wonder if it's any good.
watching this I realized that the chick-fil-a looked familiar, and it's because i live about a block away from there lol. your uber went right past my neighborhood :) maybe I'll bump into you sometime and get to say hi!
That Uber driver ROCKED!
Sweet Joy, I wish I could talk to you about guide dogs. Puppy raising is tough and I am declaring from God that my pup makes it through. I cannot help but to feel defeated right now. It is the devil trying to lie to me. Thank you and keep doing what you do!
What’s going on?
@@JoyRoss Just feeling defeated. God has brought me this far and I believe He is a God of pure love. Could you tell me some of the top priorities you personally look for in a guide dog? Thank you for sharing! Hugs from sunny Florida. Ok I lied it's raining today.😂
I am a puppy raiser too, but stick with it. You are making such a difference and raising a puppy is so rewarding for both parties. Don’t feel defeated, you got this!

Hey Joy!!It sounds like you and arabelle had a great trip.
It seems the ride share services should have a check box for service animals.
And require a response if they cancel a ride after a message is sent.
I love these videos you're uploading! I have a question though, you may have answered it before, but how do you know the menu so well?! I couldn't even go there and order that 😂
It sounds delicious, by the way!
Thanks, and I know the menu because Chick-fil-A is one of my favorite places to eat when it comes to fast food.
That was awesome joy I love chick-fil-a chick-fil-a is awesome place your arabella are awesome arabella is the best guide dogs ever hey joy your the best hard working woman in the world and keep up the good work ☺god bless you and your family
