I call my mother by her first name a lot. It doesn't actually "say" that much. I use her first name when I'm referencing her to another person so they know exactly who I'm talking about since more ppl know her by her name than as "my mother", especially in a business or public type of setting. It's just more formal. I don't call her by names when im addressing her directly.

You don't have to be an influencer; we treat neighbors with the same blind faith. My grandmother made my mother's life a living hell, and to this day, my mom has to hear from neighbors and acquaintances how great a mom she had, how much she helped her. All their knowledge is based on the fact that my grandmother smiled at them, was talkative and friendly, and told the world her version of the story.

    • @NotAnotherKuromi
      @NotAnotherKuromi 13 годин тому

My grandfather was the same, he would help neighbours mow the grass and was consider a stand up man by the community.
However he would beat the whole family behind closed doors and demand to be treated like a king, or more accurately dictator. You know the stereotype of if the dinner was slightly cold then the wife gets beaten? That was what would happen, even if he was late home so it was his fault.
I have never met my aunt because she ran away after being beaten so badly with a fire poker that she could not manage to go to school and pretend everything was fine. My grandfather was very angry at this so he beat her again and she feared he would kill her, so she flead, thankfully with the help of a friend and their family, she was 15.
My grandmother never learned to drive because my grandfather would not allow it, even when they moved out of the city center. He wanted to drive her everywhere or they walked, for miles and miles.
People used to say my grandfather was such a gentleman and wow he doesn't even make her fill the car or other duties but rather does it himself, yes because he wouldn't let her due to being incredibly controlling!
My father doesn't talk much about the abuse he suffered in childhood but I am certain it contributed to the mental health and personal issues he struggles with to this day. People thinking he has an amazing childhood with the perfect father, and how could he not be perfect in those circumstances, certainly was a burden and caused extra stress.
Out of all of the brothers my father has been able to be the healthiest I think and certainly the least sexist towards women but they are all suffering emotionally and I can't help but wonder how much better they would have turned out if they got rescued and held when they were being abused as children.

No matter your views on such things, this has an impact on a man's analysis of the situation. It's easy to feel like you're the one who's wrong, and you're on the wrong side of history. I remember seeing one video where he was being awful to his son at the kitchen table just for having his phone out. He mocked him by reading aloud the text messages to everyone. Yeah, for a lot of households that run like this, the men are the head honcho. Ruby Franke was probably the main disciplinarian for the kids because they believe the mom is the main one to handle the kids. But Kevin Franke was an enabler that could have put a stop to this at anytime. And he participated in hurting his kids at least mentally and emotionally before.

Threatening her 5 yo daughter to cut off the head of her toy. Sent her son to fricking “camp” for “problematic” kids. And those things were vlogged, what else she did we don’t know about?

I live in Utah, and have also had to reach out to CPS, as well as several of my neighbors about a particular family. They don’t do ANYTHING. They just visit quickly, see that the kids have a house and food in the kitchen, then leave. They moved into our neighborhood to get away from their previous neighbors who called on them all the time, then they ended up moving to Vegas because so many people here called on them for the same reasons, with nothing ever being fixed. Generally when that many people are calling on the same family, there’s something very wrong.
I was later told that if we see something suspicious, skip CPS and just call the cops because it’s the only way something will be done.

Child abuse is apparently rampant in Utah, and at the same time underreported, because the LDS church advises abuse victims to call a church hotline instead of the police if something happened to them. This usually ends in the abuser getting away with it (meaning that he/she might be disciplined by the church, but is not getting arrested) and the vicitim not getting much (if any) help or even being blamed for what happened to them, because they wore immodest clothing or something. It's really sad. So glad these kids got the help and justice they deserved.

Shari really surprised me here & in a very good way! She has grown into an incredibly strong young woman, who exudes confidence within a relatively short period period of time. Shari could have so easily chosen to be a victim of her parents abuse. Kevin Franke doesn't deserve a pass! He may not have taken part in any of the physical abuse inflicted on their 6 children, but he 100% played a big part in exploiting them for a big monthly check from UA-cam. He's also complicit in the emotional abuse his children endured. He & his attorney have disgustingly & disappointingly been successful in getting Kevin a pass from having to take any meaningful responsibility for the events that led up to the literal torture of his 2 youngest children, at the hands of his wife, business partner & supposed "family therapist". His having moved out of the family home for several months & being ordered to refrain from any contact, whatsoever from HIS & Ruby's children, are NOT valid excuses. As a father of 6 kids, that didn't ask to be born in the first place, let alone to a lunatic like Ruby & a spineless coward like Kevin, he had a responsibility to ensure his kids were happy, healthy & safe until they reached the age of 18 & he failed, miserably. Kevin's 1 & only priority was being allowed to move back into his home & reunite w/Ruby & that meant turning a blind eye to what he knew was not a healthy, stable environment for his kids. Kevin ADMITTED during 1 of his interviews with detectives that Jodi was becoming more & more unhinged & that she was having a negative influence on his family after she moved in AND before he was asked to move out. There's no excuse anyone can make for this pitiful excuse for a father to justify his neglect of the children. Had his 12 yr old not found the courage to escape, there is a huge chance that either he or his younger sister would've wound up dead. Ruby's diaries were bone chilling. The torture she documented, DAILY grew more & more extreme with each passing diary entry. I hope he doesn't have custody of ANY of the 4 children, especially the youngest 2.

The fact that Shari unfollowed the whole family on social media also says a lot. Everybody in the family knew what was happening and nobody lifted a finger for those kids. Shari fought alone. Her dad is a mistake of the universe. Never should've become a father. Can't understand why that man wasn't charged with neglect of his minor children. I absolutely love seeing Shari thrive. I will definitely buy her book.

I don’t know that unfollowing the family had anything to do with that because she is only following 16 people and most aren’t personal pages except Chad. Her family still follows her. I think Shari is simply taking back her life on her terms.

@amielawson8344 she unfollowed all of them a while after her mother was arrested. Why do you think that happened?
Read somewhere her aunts didn't like her speaking against child exploitation online, being child exploiters themselves. Shari is trying to terminate their source of income and they don't like it. They want to milk those children to the max until they become adults. I'm guessing they follow her to know what she up to. Shari cut ties with them and she was the one fighting for her siblings, alone.

I'm 23 about a 1/2 younger than Shari and was watching 8 Passengers live when they were coming out in 2015/16. As victim of child abuse myself, I knew that what I was seeing the kids go through was not normal. Especially with Russell, who Ruby would claim had "horrible anxiety" and would say his DEEP under-eye bags were normal. Like no, he is (was) 7. Just a baby. And sending Chad away to wilderness therapy with an organization that has had multiple cases against it.

That’s sad, isn’t it? The cruel things Shari describes Ruby saying to her back this up. I don’t think Ruby has the capacity to be sorry for her actions - her court apologies are self-servin. The things this woman said to her daughter were cold-blooded. I got a lump in my throat just hearing it, that a child was spoken to in such as cunning, emotionally manipulative and hurtful way - Ruby undersigned her words to injure her daughter.

My mother was an abusive alcoholic and died at age 54. Now I am aging and when I look in the mirror I see HER and I hate it. I understand how she feels. The 'mother' that birthed me was a destructive narcissist that destroyed the lives of all her children because in the sixties and seventies there was NO one to intervene. May those children be healed and have all they lost restored to them. And like that family, my father knew and did nothing. He was abusive to my brother. You never forget how you grew up.
