The gameplay and soundtrack are absolutely stunning. The title screen almost made me cry because the singing is beautiful. Absolutely worth the 8 bucks.
Amazing that we have a western level now. Perfect choice since westerns were iconic parts of cinema in the early 20th century, including cartoons. The soundtrack does the western sound while still fitting the energy of the rest of the game's boss songs beautifully.

*18:06* Oh my fu-king god this part! Do I need to say any more? Whilst *still* not as good as the beginning part of Shootin' and Lootin', it is still an absolute godsend. Man, the steady buildup, the transition, the god damn part itself, everything is absolutely mind-bogglingly insane.
We definitely need Cuphead, Mugman or Ms. Chalise in the next Super Smash Bros. game as a standalone fighter. With Ms. Chalise there's a whole new moveset for a fighter

But its continuation in the form of DLC is the same thing only 2x better, as it contains more innovative content, a new character, many new bosses, new shots, new charms, if I say everything again that this DLC brings it would take time then I'll just go to them. Bootlegger Boogie is my favorites level the sound the boss I like it so much. Also the level it's like a gangster bugs vs the police bugs it is a really cool detail tho

Despite the difficulty of it, my favourite boss from this DLC has to be the one against the Howling Aces, 'Doggone Dogfight'. The planes, the dogs, the skill you need, and the SCREEN TILT- How did you even nail that? Went from PC to mobile and back real quick! Also, the fuel tank guy's back, and this time he's piloting what looks like Tails' Tornado from Sonic 2! The whole thing's just great overall.
We should all give MDHR and round of applause to how much they wanted to bring this dlc to life. And now with it finally released the game has now officially been fully complete. Bravo to you guys for making something so absolutely incredible and unique thank you all and we all give you our absolute dedication.

Bootlegger Boogie is what i consider to be the greatest level in Cuphead. The music is pure bliss to the ears and the level design is amazing. Having it take place during a moonshine bust is perfect considering prohibition was in effect during the time the game takes place. Overall, absolute perfection
@@thornordgren2239 Thats what factors into being a good level. It’s not something that’s easy so you’ll only play it once. If you are anything like me, you’ll go back to it over and over to try and beat your fastest time or to get S rank

I absolutely love the concept of Bootlegger Boogie. The music, the scenario, the characters, and the fake ending. Definitely my favorite boss in the DLC
I like how the story involving this boss makes a lot of sense. During the 20s to early 30s, the manufacture and sale of alcohol was illegal in many places. This insect mob sells moonshine illegally, and over the course of the battle are being busted by the police. In phase one you can see the spider making phone calls, and various mobster insects swarming the screen. The police try to intervene but can’t. Later in phase three, the ant eater shoots projectiles at you, but the projectiles are actually the mobster flies and police officer bugs fighting in a dust cloud. The continuity and creativity of the fight is so cool.
And the lady scatting like it’s the 50’s, 70’s or even the 20’s or 30’s really seems like they cared so much about making this game just as good as the original and kept true to the new ost
The first song gives the tone of the DLC. It's a complete new adventure, reimagined, brand new, without losing the vibe of the original story. Thanks for this DLC, MDHR Studio ! :D

I like how they went of their way to animate some bosses like flipping Disney villains. Makes you wonder how better recent Disney movies would be had they been hand drawn
I was getting the Coachman from Pinocchio vibes from Chef Saltbaker. His boss fight was so well animated. It almost felt like they got ex-Disney and Dreamworks 2D animators to do Saltbaker; like James Baxter or someone similar.
Hand drawn is much harder to do my guy and cost too much money I love hand drawn animation more than anyone else but but sometimes you have to evolve not everything is going to stay the same forever ya know and there Recent movies are really good with CGI but I also if you do a little research they are planning on doing movie with hand drawn animation so they haven't really forgotten about them

I've waited 4 years for the DLC, 200% the game 6 times over in anticipation. The day finally came, and boy was it worth it. The experience was short, but with all the effort put into it the end result was worth it! Thank you Studio MDHR for creating something so small to go with an amazing game!
Getting an S rank on all the base game bosses was an act of patience and sadness, and probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in a video game. I can’t wait to dig in and S rank all of the DLC bosses, too! (hahahahahah......)

I was originally weirded out by the use of seemingly 8-bit synths in "An Ominous Stroll", but then I learned they were the work of a Novachord, a synthesizer that dates back to 1938. Gosh, just when I thought they were using anachronisms to great effect, it turns out even THAT'S era appropriate?! Wack, kudos to this music team.
Funnily enough, The (Unused) American Fotoplayer on the original soundtrack is midi computer programmed. The Theremin is also computer midi (even though the instrument existed in the 30s)
The fact that they are charging this masterclass expansion for a mere $8 is insane. The amount of love for this game is not to be understated, it's a technical marvel of a game and animation. A beautiful blend of new and old, but most all, it respects players who seek a good old challenging game, but is still fair to new players as well. This game is a labour of love, and I want to thank you, the people of the studio and people involved with this, for making such a fantastic game.
I love the change in style of the Soundtrack, the main game had a piano/jazzy Soundtrack, and now the DLC has more instruments that I can only best describe as a Western Film-like Soundtrack (in some tracks) and thats a perfect evolution of the Soundtrack
I mean, it's still jazz, it's just "alternative" style, which is really refreshing because it opens up more styles within the genre to all of the Cuphead fans.

Watch a sugar cube get destroyed to pieces, limes getting brutally sliced, a strawberry basket getting their strawberries off (which is not that brutal) and a dough get flattened and turned into little dough animals, that my men was a *food masacre*

having already played only 2 bosses and only beaten 1, i can already confirm this is MILES better than the original. yall outdid yourselves 100x over edit: ive beaten the dlc twice in both regular and expert i can 100% confirm they did indeed outdo themselves 100x over.
wouldnt say miles by any means, but im not saying both the base and dlc are bad or anything. theyre both really good, its just that you cant really get that much better than this in the 1st place, if that makes sense lol
This DLC was worth it after 4 years. This turned out really well. Your attention to detail when you developed this game is overwhelming. I would pay more than $9 for this DLC to be honest.
What's interesting about the DLC's music is that it shifts the theming a bit. While the jazz influence is still there in a lot of the tracks, most of them use new instruments or have a different feel from most of the music in the base game for Cuphead. "Baking the Wondertart" in particular sounds way more intense compared to "Hell of a Time", and I think that ties in perfectly to how... *END OF DLC SPOILERS* Chef Saltbaker is animated less like a Fleischer cartoon character and more like a Disney villain. Really goes to show how everything when it comes to this game is high quality, both the animation and the music.
The whole soundtrack was wonderful. Fantastic job. The tracks that really stood out to me were: Snow Court Scuffle Bootlegger Boogie Doggone Dogfight Baking the Wondertart
honestly, i didn't think doggone dogfight fit the vibe of the stage. a dogfight is a fast-paced shootout of 2 or more planes in the army, and the theme for the boss based around it sounds way too light and happy, not to mention it barely has any bass. i hate the fact that my favorite boss from this DLC has my least favorite theme.
This is an amazing last hurrah for cupped fans everywhere, I'll be listening to this while I work out. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much studio MDHR for making an amazing game and an incredible delicious last course!

Yeah I’d say more a classic 30s Jazz, so not only Disney. But yeah I personally think the best thing of cuphead is the music, and it has to have one of the best OST ever created. It never gets old and I’m never tired of listening to it

Baking the wondertart has to be one of the best works of music I’ve ever listened to. I think what sets this soundtrack aside from the one from the main game, is the variation and uniqueness of every song. It’s not just amazing jazz music, it’s amazing music of pretty much all unsung genres. This dlc is great as it is, but all the infinitely better with this one of a kind and priceless soundtrack.

I absolutely love the concept of Bootlegger Boogie. The music, the scenario, the characters, and the fake ending. Definitely my favorite boss in the DLC
same man, my favorite part is the disco player with the distortions on the music, gives me shivers everytime I play
I like how the story involving this boss makes a lot of sense. During the 20s to early 30s, the manufacture and sale of alcohol was illegal in many places. This insect mob sells moonshine illegally, and over the course of the battle are being busted by the police. In phase one you can see the spider making phone calls, and various mobster insects swarming the screen. The police try to intervene but can’t. Later in phase three, the ant eater shoots projectiles at you, but the projectiles are actually the mobster flies and police officer bugs fighting in a dust cloud. The continuity and creativity of the fight is so cool.
And the lady scatting like it’s the 50’s, 70’s or even the 20’s or 30’s really seems like they cared so much about making this game just as good as the original and kept true to the new ost

The first song gives the tone of the DLC. It's a complete new adventure, reimagined, brand new, without losing the vibe of the original story.

this game is a masterpiece, they will not let me lie all the scenarios is something never seen before in a video game, and the same goes for the DLC, you deserve all the success in the world for your love and effort they put into their work, which is (this video game)!!!!

I like how they went of their way to animate some bosses like flipping Disney villains. Makes you wonder how better recent Disney movies would be had they been hand drawn
I was getting the Coachman from Pinocchio vibes from Chef Saltbaker. His boss fight was so well animated. It almost felt like they got ex-Disney and Dreamworks 2D animators to do Saltbaker; like James Baxter or someone similar.

Hand drawn is much harder to do my guy and cost too much money I love hand drawn animation more than anyone else but but sometimes you have to evolve not everything is going to stay the same forever ya know and there Recent movies are really good with CGI but I also if you do a little research they are planning on doing movie with hand drawn animation so they haven't really forgotten about them

I've waited 4 years for the DLC, 200% the game 6 times over in anticipation. The day finally came, and boy was it worth it. The experience was short, but with all the effort put into it the end result was worth it! Thank you Studio MDHR for creating something so small to go with an amazing game!

Getting an S rank on all the base game bosses was an act of patience and sadness, and probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in a video game. I can’t wait to dig in and S rank all of the DLC bosses, too! (hahahahahah......)
@@blueblaze5160 I’ve only S ranked bootlegger boogies. Shits intense. I tried S ranking gnome way out but it was so frustrating I meant and tried doggone dogfight but that just made me close the game. They are certainly a step up from the base game bosses

I was originally weirded out by the use of seemingly 8-bit synths in "An Ominous Stroll", but then I learned they were the work of a Novachord, a synthesizer that dates back to 1938. Gosh, just when I thought they were using anachronisms to great effect, it turns out even THAT'S era appropriate?! Wack, kudos to this music team.

The fact that they are charging this masterclass expansion for a mere $8 is insane. The amount of love for this game is not to be understated, it's a technical marvel of a game and animation. A beautiful blend of new and old, but most all, it respects players who seek a good old challenging game, but is still fair to new players as well. This game is a labour of love, and I want to thank you, the people of the studio and people involved with this, for making such a fantastic game.
Meanwhile Nintendo charges 30$ for Pokemon that they just recycled from previous games and didn't include at the launch of gen 8.

I love the change in style of the Soundtrack, the main game had a piano/jazzy Soundtrack, and now the DLC has more instruments that I can only best describe as a Western Film-like Soundtrack (in some tracks) and thats a perfect evolution of the Soundtrack
I mean, it's still jazz, it's just "alternative" style, which is really refreshing because it opens up more styles within the genre to all of the Cuphead fans.
I do like this soundtrack here in the dlc but in my opinion I prefer the piano jazzy style more

After S ranking all the bosses and going back to the original game’s bosses, they were suddenly extremely easy compared to the DLC’s
wouldnt say miles by any means, but im not saying both the base and dlc are bad or anything. theyre both really good, its just that you cant really get that much better than this in the 1st place, if that makes sense lol

This DLC was worth it after 4 years. This turned out really well. Your attention to detail when you developed this game is overwhelming. I would pay more than $9 for this DLC to be honest.

What's interesting about the DLC's music is that it shifts the theming a bit. While the jazz influence is still there in a lot of the tracks, most of them use new instruments or have a different feel from most of the music in the base game for Cuphead. "Baking the Wondertart" in particular sounds way more intense compared to "Hell of a Time", and I think that ties in perfectly to how...

Chef Saltbaker is animated less like a Fleischer cartoon character and more like a Disney villain. Really goes to show how everything when it comes to this game is high quality, both the animation and the music.
The whole soundtrack was wonderful. Fantastic job. The tracks that really stood out to me were:

Doggone Dogfight
Baking the Wondertart
honestly, i didn't think doggone dogfight fit the vibe of the stage. a dogfight is a fast-paced shootout of 2 or more planes in the army, and the theme for the boss based around it sounds way too light and happy, not to mention it barely has any bass. i hate the fact that my favorite boss from this DLC has my least favorite theme.
I like the Chef Saltbaker plot twist
I love these tracks but High-Noon Hoopla is gotta be my favorite

Inkwell Isle Four is giving me some serious Django Reinhardt vibes, what an incredible follow-up to an already tremendous soundtrack!
Same with Chef Saltbaker, even his phase two section in Baking the Wondertart has that awesome gypsy jazz violin and I love the vibes

Studio MDHR, all the staff, talent, and everyone who worked with you be blessed and know I as well as all of us fans deeply thank you for all of your hard work and effort this is seriously one of the most unique and beautiful things I have ever seen with this effort any game can be great as a game but I never thought this game would pull in every category to do all of the above
Baking the wondertart has to be one of the best works of music I’ve ever listened to. I think what sets this soundtrack aside from the one from the main game, is the variation and uniqueness of every song. It’s not just amazing jazz music, it’s amazing music of pretty much all unsung genres. This dlc is great as it is, but all the infinitely better with this one of a kind and priceless soundtrack.
This was definitely worth 4+ years, amazing job to the entire team! Also this music goes insanely hard

I bought the game today as I never considered playing Cuphead until now, and I love it, I wish I could’ve d played it sooner, The DLC is Amazing, Music is upbeat, the game is so challenging yet so fun, props to the devs and the producers makin this and everybody on the MDHR Studio, They did an amazing job with this game.
1:10:04 I really wish they put this song for the Title Screen. I miss the old Cuphead menu song. :(
