Thank you so much for this video , my neighbour asked me to rebuild his 250 , never pulled a bike engine apart before, im a car mechanic and only ever worked on cars , this video is very detailed and made me super confident in pulling it apart ! I made my own puller for that huge crank seal but bought the tool for pulling the flywheel off an online shop …… its all stripped down so i’ll start the clean up of all the parts soon then i will be following part 2 for the rebuild ! Again THANK YOU from me in the UK 🇬🇧

I just want to say that the Vespa in this video is my vespa (I had no idea they made a video of my rebuild) and these guys did a tremendous job for me. I could not recommend them more.

@@dtiydr What kind of oil consumption were you having that it would run dry?? I had an X9, it used very little oil from one service interval to the next. Similar engines, they really shouldn't need oil between services.
Sounds more like something went wrong. Oil pump, perhaps, as you said.

Just finished the disassembly of a 2017 GTS 300 engine that had been oil starved... crank is frozen but everything else looks great. Thank you so much, following along step by step, really raised my confidence that I could do this job!

Excellent video. It is always a pleasure to watch a properly experienced craftsman at work. You tube, is sadly, often full of "Inexperienced" people doing "How to videos" but this is on a whole different level. Thanks for posting this video up!

Thank you so very much for the video, the penchance for detail is exceptional, looking forward to the other parts.
As an owner of a newly rebuilt P200E Vespa, I cannot overstate how much simpler the 2 stroke motor is. I don't think a layman should attempt his luck with the modern Vespa motors.

Hi Robot! I love your videos, very detailed and have learned a lot by watching them.
When you started up the blue vespa, you said "there's a distinct metallic wrapping noise, and that's from the main bearing that's falling apart and damaged from lack of lubrication."
Later, when you removed the piston, you showed how the crankcase had some play and was due to the connecting rod big-end bearing, not the main bearings, right?
So even though the main bearings had some galling, it was due to the big-end bearing's vibration, but not enough to warrant replacement, right?
I have a BV200-like scooter (it's really an Aprilia Sportcity 200 sold in Latin America, but mention the BV200 instead because that's a better reference and I've installed a bunch of Piaggio Beverly engine parts already that are identical) that has a similar wrapping noise, but not as loud (perhaps because of a smaller engine?).
My question is whether you know if the main bearings can be replaced on the crankcase in case it comes down to that. Buying the crankcase is out of the question (aprilia lists it for $900), so I'm hoping that it's just the crankcase that's damaged, not the bearings as well.
Someone mention that some crankcases require heating in an oven in order to remove/install the bearings. Do you know if this is necessary in case it came down to having to replace the main bearings?
Thanks for the great videos and I hope you have a chance to seem my question...

    • @Fredjoe5
      @Fredjoe5 2 роки тому

I'm assuming you meant "crankshaft" instead of "crankcase?"
I guess the ability to disassemble and repair crankshafts is a function of their design. It would be interesting to see someone try it.

I got a 2019 Gts 300 HPE that got a new crankshaft with 3k miles under warranty. Now with 16k miles again needs a new crankshaft. In this repair the dealer changed also both chains (oil and timing), piston rings. The bearings and oil pump were not changed. What could cause a second crankshaft to go bad in such a short period??

Im.an Auto mechanic by trade I just bought a no start 2001 Vespa 49 cc it some how has a cracked case on the top of the mount to the body. Is it possible that back pressure or compression is being lost propagating the no start? I've yet to get on it since the rain we've been having in Georgia. I Believe it may be a fuel issue I hope, gas tap w vaccuum diaphragm stemming from the gas tank. I'll try a gas IV bag. Any suggestions before I get on it? Indeed the crack in case needs to be welded only 3000 miles on it. Perhaps valve's. We'll see

hello from Portugal. i have a piaggio fly 125 ei, 3v. and that was stopped for a few months in the open, cleaned the air filter and saw that there was water in the filter box, changed the oil 1.2 liters, cleaned the small strainer and put a new filter. I start the engine and the oil light does not go out. I stopped the engine after 20 seconds. I checked the oil level and it was low. I put another 100ml of oil and start the engine and the light is still on, I accelerated a little and the light went out but when I go back to idle the light turns on. I removed all the oil, checked the strainer (it was clean), I put the oil that was only 1.2 liters (the 100ml were inside) I start the engine and the light is on. I check the oil sensor plug and tested the connection and everything is ok. remove the sensor and start the engine and no oil comes out. Is there anything else to check or do I have to remove the oil pump to find the fault?
