Why not cut the block down down instead of a corridor??

It’s likely either DNR or forest service thinning, usfs don’t clearcut anymore.

You think it's alot quicker to just call the timber cutter back over and let them just cut the trees down out of the way and call it good then too and save them alot of time and money too

Depends how close the machine is. That terrain is tough to cross in that machine and is slow going, especially across such a long road. That road is much longer than it looks from that overhead picture. In that particular situation I guess it was easier for them to re-align it.

      This is a thinning operation.
Land management wants only a partial harvest to occur. It is imperative to follow the cutting prescription to achieve the desired results for the residual stand to grow up for the next harvest.
If a guy simply “accidentally” feigned stupid and strung the line crooked. He could snag loads and loads of extra merchandise. And that’s just poor forestry practice. Obviously, logistics would prove it’s easier for the boots on the ground crew; however, responsible and sustainable forestry practices should take precedence over quick and easy. The line and cables should have been perfectly straight to begin with. Getting it crooked meant someone did a negligent job.

Why not drive the yarder forward or backwards to center the skyline?

I speak Serbian so im sorry if my English is bad. Forest has its own age, when its get old, big trees start catching diseases and slowly dying, and crushing it self. When you cut those trees next year from one stump start growing a dozen little trees, and forest get new fresh plants with no deasises and termites. Trouble is when fire catches a forest, not cutting trees, you gotta cut them or its gone fall when its get old by snow and wind storms. Everyone who do this job know that. Here where I come from when you cut a forest next year new trees is 2 meter tall and for 20 years its ready to cut again.

@@Pr0ToTyPeC3 proven that younger well managed trees are not only healthier then old dying trees but younger ones requires more co2 intake to grow which is returned in greater oxygen production. Everyone who says logging is bad are the people destroying the forest but try to tell them that........

You think they don't replant for the next generation? You think they are cutting down original trees from the beginning? Educate yourself.

And FYI, before the crews arrived, the trees were there. Once they get cut down, they are HISTORY!
