I am a non-denominational Christian and I have been doing heavy research lately, not because I doubt my faith however, to expose the truth to others and spread the Gospel. Recently as well have been debunking Islam and my gf who was muslim as of yesterday pledged her loyalty to Christ. She came home. Which is beautiful. Not only did she see the evidence that I presented to her plus other finding from other sources, historical evidence, scientic evidence and her own spiritual encounter. Jesus is King! At about marker 24.00 Dr Kennedy adds some information re the Sanhedrin having moved to the southern side of the Temple Mt. about 30AD. I read a fascinating article years ago that stated that the Sanhedrin had originally met in a room abutting the actual Temple, but at the time of the Crucifixion when the earthquake struck and the Temple veil was torn, a large part of the overhead structure above the Sanhedrin rooms, collapsed - thereby forcing them to convene elsewhere i.e to a south-western corner room of the southern portico

I really enjoyed this conversation. I'm not scholar, but I'd like to share some wisdom I've been blessed with. Searching for "evidence " of the authenticity of the Gospels will only reveal so much. I believe whole heartedly that God will not allow proof without belief. God's objective in creating us is to establish true love between Him, the Creator, and His creation. If God is proven, we cannot choose to believe, or more importantly, to love Him. It is comforting as a believer to see the archeological discovery of the places and times depicted in the scriptures. But do not hang your believe upon the evidence unveiled, or the lack there of. If in your heart you TRULY believe, He will show Himself to you. In Luke's account of the census, Lk 2:2 specifically says, "This was the FIRST census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria." A FIRST census implies there was at least a second...perhaps the one that took place in 6 or 7 AD.

Really good questions were asked in this interview. I think it was a debris clearing consideration of some of the archaeological discoveries associated with Jesus! Thank you gentlemen. The stones still cry out as another archaeologist once pointed out. Some choose to remain "stone deaf" while others have their hearts of stone brought to vibrant life. Answers usually take digging and yes, faith can be excavated! The geography fits (having been to Israel I can attest to this), the cultural situ fits, the Gospel stories fit and the archaeology fits. There are yet other discoveries that come to mind in addition to the ones mentioned and I look forward to digging deeper into what appears will be an "X"ellent read! Hmmmm... You know I listened to what you were saying, but I remember what Jesus said to his deciples. He said you see me now ,handle my feet and hands ,but blessed are those though they don't see me yet they know and understand I don't need proof of Jesus for when my life was filled with grief . I visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in 1968 when working on a kibbutz and my abiding memory was how close of the place of crucifixion was to the tomb - I couldn't believe that people would want a tomb so close to where people were put to death.
I think it was partly a matter of time as the Sabbath drew close they had to hurry to get him to the tomb before Sabbath hit. The real tomb is outside of Jerusalem. I saw Golgatha and the tomb just outside of the Damascus Gate.
Jerusalem changed so much before Constantine..The church of the holy sepulchre could not have been built before his time..And it wouldhave been difficult to trace the place by that time especially since the Christians would have had to flee following persecutions
There is evidence by locals that says that is not the actual place where he was in tombed heard from a guy that visited both places saying he felt noting at the seplacir but had a strong emotional reaction when showed the actual tomb and he had no idea that's where he was being taken at the time

Even if someone could prove that a certain Jesus did exist, “ which would be impossible to ascertain 100% “ it would still not prove that he is a God or the Son of a God, there is a heck of a chasm between proving the existence of Jesus and a God.

Even 30 years ago, when several of the archaeological finds mentioned here had not yet been discovered, the most truthful thing one could say of skeptical critics of the Bible was that every time they had challenged the Bible on archaeological grounds, they had been shown wrong. That is still true today. "There´s no evidence of writing at the time of Moses!"- then hieroglyphs and cuneiform are discovered. "No evidence of the Hittites ever existing!"- then their language is deciphered and today we have professors of Hittite at Oxford, University of Chicago, etc. "No evidence of Caiaphas!"- then his bones are discovered. Mr Sean McDowell voice and pronunciation is very clear to viewrs. But Mr Titus Kennedy's should note make his audio clear to listeners. Many of his sentences are not clear.
I think the most glaring issue with the census was glossed over in the first question. The problem is not that people might have been required to "go home" in order to be counted, it is the fact that in Luke's gospel Joseph is required to go to his ancestral home from many centuries in the past. This is ridiculous. The kind of movement such a mandate would have prompted across the Empire would have resulted in sheer chaos, and would not have been overlooked by contemporary historians. It is similar with the slaughter of the innocents in Matthew: the issue is less that this was not mentioned by historians, and moreso a combination of this with the fact that the story fits within an obvious literary paradigm in which Matthew is drawing favorable comparisons between Jesus and Moses. This is one of several ways in which Jesus is declared to be a "new Moses," and this makes it equally unsurprising that the story is absent from the other gospels, which all had their own, separate literary agendas.

I hate to break it to you, but a hack like J Warner Walkace is not remotely equipped to dealing with matters of antiquity. Literary and historical analyses employ different necessary skills. I already believe in the historical Jesus as Son of God. The archeological evidence is just confirming. And will be helpful to share with my grandkids who are so new in their faith. The documentary, before the wrath, was basted on archaeological evidence from Galilee . Weddings there were different than any other places in Judea and Israel. The groom and bride , both drank from a cup of wine . She slept in her wedding gown and her ladies stay awake at night, ready for the father of the groom to go to his son , telling him to go get his bride.. the shofar was blown to wake the village and they then went to the outside gates of the town. I saw that movie too, how the wedding of the Galilee was different from others. That's why Yeshua explained it like that to his disciples so they would understand his message to them. I've known for a long time that Augustus ordered a census in 8 BC. Also, that Herod the Great was King of Judea at the time of Jesus's birth. This works well with the Bible that Joseph was told to take Mary and Jesus away until it was safe to return, which came in 4 BC when Herod died. As for the Slaughter of the Innocents, I heard that a study was done, and given the size of Bethlehem in that time, there were probably only about 5-8 babies that would have met the criteria for Herod's order.

At about marker 24.00 Dr Kennedy adds some information re the Sanhedrin having moved to the southern side of the Temple Mt. about 30AD.
I read a fascinating article years ago that stated that the Sanhedrin had originally met in a room abutting the actual Temple, but at the time of the Crucifixion when the earthquake struck and the Temple veil was torn, a large part of the overhead structure above the Sanhedrin rooms, collapsed - thereby forcing them to convene elsewhere i.e to a south-western corner room of the southern portico

I really enjoyed this conversation. I'm not scholar, but I'd like to share some wisdom I've been blessed with. Searching for "evidence " of the authenticity of the Gospels will only reveal so much. I believe whole heartedly that God will not allow proof without belief. God's objective in creating us is to establish true love between Him, the Creator, and His creation. If God is proven, we cannot choose to believe, or more importantly, to love Him. It is comforting as a believer to see the archeological discovery of the places and times depicted in the scriptures. But do not hang your believe upon the evidence unveiled, or the lack there of. If in your heart you TRULY believe, He will show Himself to you. Really good questions were asked in this interview. I think it was a debris clearing consideration of some of the archaeological discoveries associated with Jesus! Thank you gentlemen. The stones still cry out as another archaeologist once pointed out. Some choose to remain "stone deaf" while others have their hearts of stone brought to vibrant life. Answers usually take digging and yes, faith can be excavated! The geography fits (having been to Israel I can attest to this), the cultural situ fits, the Gospel stories fit and the archaeology fits. There are yet other discoveries that come to mind in addition to the ones mentioned and I look forward to digging deeper into what appears will be an "X"ellent read! Hmmmm... Another relic is discussed by a 38 year Nuclear Engineer you tube video titled "Hypothesis to Explain the Main Mysteries of the Shroud of Turin" and the carbon dating is explained with a theory on nuclear radiation. You know I listened to what you were saying, but I remember what Jesus said to his deciples. He said you see me now ,handle my feet and hands ,but blessed are those though they don't see me yet they know and understand I don't need proof of Jesus for when my life was filled with grief . He reached down and I felt His gentle touch as the tears rolled down my cheek. You see l lost every thing my home , my family I was all alone frightened .then I felt that gentle touch deep within my heart , for this is when I accepted my lord and Savior as my own. Yes I've made mistakes over the years then fell to my knees in prayer and Jesus gentle touch reassured me that He is always there . So I don't need proof of Jesus ,He is always in my heart. He is coming back to this old world and I am ready to depart. No more sadness ,no more hardships , no more pain ,no more tears. For I don't need proof of Jesus He has always and still is near.
I visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in 1968 when working on a kibbutz and my abiding memory was how close of the place of crucifixion was to the tomb - I couldn't believe that people would want a tomb so close to where people were put to death.
I think it was partly a matter of time as the Sabbath drew close they had to hurry to get him to the tomb before Sabbath hit. The real tomb is outside of Jerusalem. I saw Golgatha and the tomb just outside of the Damascus Gate.

Jerusalem changed so much before Constantine..The church of the holy sepulchre could not have been built before his time..And it wouldhave been difficult to trace the place by that time especially since the Christians would have had to flee following persecutions
There is evidence by locals that says that is not the actual place where he was in tombed heard from a guy that visited both places saying he felt noting at the seplacir but had a strong emotional reaction when showed the actual tomb and he had no idea that's where he was being taken at the time

Even 30 years ago, when several of the archaeological finds mentioned here had not yet been discovered, the most truthful thing one could say of skeptical critics of the Bible was that every time they had challenged the Bible on archaeological grounds, they had been shown wrong. That is still true today. "There´s no evidence of writing at the time of Moses!"- then hieroglyphs and cuneiform are discovered. "No evidence of the Hittites ever existing!"- then their language is deciphered and today we have professors of Hittite at Oxford, University of Chicago, etc. "No evidence of Caiaphas!"- then his bones are discovered. Please, skeptics, keep making your ignorant claims. You are a perpetual source of encouragement and inspire future research.

Why was the Shroud of Turin not mentioned in light of the resurrection of Jesus?
I think the most glaring issue with the census was glossed over in the first question. The problem is not that people might have been required to "go home" in order to be counted, it is the fact that in Luke's gospel Joseph is required to go to his ancestral home from many centuries in the past. This is ridiculous. The kind of movement such a mandate would have prompted across the Empire would have resulted in sheer chaos, and would not have been overlooked by contemporary historians.
It is similar with the slaughter of the innocents in Matthew: the issue is less that this was not mentioned by historians, and moreso a combination of this with the fact that the story fits within an obvious literary paradigm in which Matthew is drawing favorable comparisons between Jesus and Moses. This is one of several ways in which Jesus is declared to be a "new Moses," and this makes it equally unsurprising that the story is absent from the other gospels, which all had their own, separate literary agendas.
@Gerard Moloney why would I ask a detective questions about ancient history, literature and writing conventions? I hate to break it to you, but a hack like J Warner Walkace is not remotely equipped to dealing with matters of antiquity. Literary and historical analyses employ different necessary skills.
Moreover, I am not talking about simple differences. I am talking about differences which clearly fit within contrasting theological, ideological paradigms.

I already believe in the historical Jesus as Son of God. The archeological evidence is just confirming. And will be helpful to share with my grandkids who are so new in their faith. Some people dont want to believe and nothing will convince them. But God has provided enough evidence in Nature , the Bible, history, archeology and thru the Holy Spirit that they will have no excuse on the day of judgement.

The documentary, before the wrath, was basted on archaeological evidence from Galilee . Weddings there were different than any other places in Judea and Israel. The groom and bride , both drank from a cup of wine . She slept in her wedding gown and her ladies stay awake at night, ready for the father of the groom to go to his son , telling him to go get his bride.. the shofar was blown to wake the village and they then went to the outside gates of the town. Archeological discoveries really approved highly historical account of the Gospel, which really not a concern if you can just invent / replace / change an event inside the Gospel narratives.
I've known for a long time that Augustus ordered a census in 8 BC. Also, that Herod the Great was King of Judea at the time of Jesus's birth. This works well with the Bible that Joseph was told to take Mary and Jesus away until it was safe to return, which came in 4 BC when Herod died. As for the Slaughter of the Innocents, I heard that a study was done, and given the size of Bethlehem in that time, there were probably only about 5-8 babies that would have met the criteria for Herod's order.

@@LM-jz9vh Christians acknowledge Jesus didn’t fulfill any of the prophecies but things will be better the next go-round. A second coming, and possibly a third, may be required. He came as a lamb. Now we await his return as a lion. If need be, he will return once more as a unicorn. If all else fails, he will make a last appearance as the enigmatic jackalope.
@@LM-jz9vh as a former athiest, you are a doing a bad job of being an athiest. Nobody is gonna Google that stuff, it comes off as unhinged. If you can't list the pertinent points from those videos and synthesize them then it is obvious that you are relying on a gish gallop. The point of the messiah is to deliver us/Isreal from her enemies, sin, death, the world, the flesh, the devil. Human beings are not enemies from the interior perspective of Isreal (the church). The Jews had Moses, they expected another Moses - but as in Exodus the dileverance was almost an immediate stumbling block, as they were delivered to the wilderness. They rebelled because it seemed worse than no deliverance at all.
