Why I personally love The Following is that it feels very cozy in comparison to the main game. The main game has huge stakes, world-ending catastrophe, a full on war between rival factions and is extremely cramped and crowded the whole way through. The world of the base game *can* be mastered, but the game is very dense, both in level design and theme. The Following is a lot slower of a burn, and the things you do feel a lot more personal to the community. If you want to just drive around and exist in the countryside, it's honestly pretty relaxing. I enjoy running through the city of Harran, both the Slums and Old Town, but I also enjoy the more relaxed and spacious feel of The Following. They are two different ways to take the gameplay of Dying Light and make it enjoyable, and each one is a nice mix up from the other. This is a great video, thank you for making it :)

just wanted to say i really loved your last video style of review. like i’m sure this video is good as well but you truly had something very unique with the starfeild video.
I like the heavy editing videos but the “semi editing” style is also really good, in the end, most watch it while doing other things and occasionally look at the screen. In the end Your commentary is what we like the most.
my self personally, if i have a video playing, my full attention is on that video, So visuals or no visuals, you have my full attention to a video! Really appreciate this video!
Hearing that old end quote brought back so many memories. Also I think that these longer less edited videos are doing wonders for the channel Marco. I think all of your true fans really appreciate it.
Really enjoyable video mate. 100% understand you wanting to tone down on the editing if it'll make your uploads more regular. I personally just listen to your stuff whilst I work/chill and I love hearing you talk about stuff you're clearly interested in (your CoD Zombies video in particular is amazing).
I do agree with the sentiment of "less editing, more frequent" due to the nature of video essays being 2nd monitor fodder. That being said, I'm one of those people who would like to hear your thoughts more often than seing your editing skills - however good they are. (btw there was more room for explosion.mp3 towards the end)
noted! I like editing and I love to work on stuff that I feel like is my best work yet, but I also really want to get back uploading semi regularly. Reading comments is one of the best parts of being a youtuber and only getting to do that every 3-4 months is not it.
I watched this with full attention rather than background noise, and I didn't mind the editing style at all. Even when you mentioned it at the end I was like "What am I missing?" vs your more heavily edited stuff. Take that as you wish, but this pacing and editing is perfectly fine for me. Good video!
I dont know why so many people say Dying Light 1s story was bad or confusing. It really wasn't, it was easy to folloe and a simple, but with very memorable and witty characters. The start of it is where it is best, where the tower is desperate for supplies and is willing to do anything. The last 1/4 if the story is more of an action movie, but it still is fun and makes sense. The Followings story was also VERY good, it was well put together and a nice wrap up to the first game.
Dying Light 1 was easily top 5 of the Xbox One/PS4 era... and still, to thos day, top 10 of my favorite all-time games, period. The system of sytems this game was built upon created some of the most dynamic and emergent gameplay experiences ever. The parkour and physics-based melee combat make traversing Haran and fighting off the dead highly gratifying. The minute you get the grappling hook, the damn game manages to go from a 10/10 gameplay to a seemingly impossible 20/10! Also, the music -- my God -- is a John Carpenter-like, synth nightmare that sets a creepy and ominous vibe for the player. Was the story the best ever? No, but it was good enough to keep you invested without overcomplicating things. If anything, I'd liken it's simplicity to that of your typical 80's action movie, which works perfectly for a video game. Over the years, I've probably put a good 1,500-2,000 hours into it, across my PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Sadly, my only regret is that I've yet to play the game cooperative. My son is a bit too young for the gore, but when he's of age, we're totally coming back to this masterpiece of a game. Part 2, however, was quite disappointing and doesn't even feel like the same people were involved. I beat it, on principle, but it was NOT the Dying Light we knew, much less the one they sold us in it's famous E3 debut trailer. What a damm disappointment.
Hey man, I've been watching your content since your first Division video, you have been amazing and I'm always filled with joy when I see you upload a new video. ~Maximus
hot damn the nostalgia that came over me when i started this video... this video is so well done bro, I sent it to all my DL friends lol. Cant wait to watch your other stuffs.
Great video well researched and explained. This editing STYLE is right on so more please sir. Thanks again for your time and efforts on a thoroughly entertaining and informative Video. Cheers.
Boss fights are a huge Techland weakness, and that weakness persists in Dying Light 2. In fact I think it's even worse there. The open world boss spawns are fine tho because they're not there to be beaten (in DL1), they're there to be an obstacle
Like how grounded and well explained everything is, digestible. The final part at the end of less visuals on screen and while doing other things. You kept it real man. love hearing you and looking forward to more content
I don't have the patience to watch long videos. most of the time the creator's just drag it out. there are a few that will keep me interested and you are one of them. really high quality. the only negative (and I understand why) are the periods between your videos. thank you.
Dying Light 1 was soooo much fricking fun, played once halfway alone and one complete playtrough + comunnity maps along with a friend, not the best game but definately one of the most fun experiences I ever had
Honestly the following was and still is my favorite dlc ever made , the world and characters were fun but it got bigger and the cars are actually soo much fun :,)
Not sure if anyone commented about this but, the bloody ties dlc actually got worse in a way. When it was freshly released there was a whole segment of you trying to get IN the carnage hall by getting a secret phrase that opens the door (thats why there is a strange, disconnected cutscene of a random bouncer opening the door and letting you in), meeting ciro, who robs you, acts all cocky ect. Him constantly being a dick kinda made me dislike him, but after getting to know him a bit better, made me kind of get attached to him, which made the ending a lot sadder for me when i did kill him. But now, ciro doesnt really feel like someone that important for the player to go into carnage hall and save, he feels... well.. boring. Anyway, i guess a lot of people really disliked him, thats why a decent portion of the dlc kinda got nuked, which is a bummer
I truly enjoy your videos, subscribed since Div1. On this new long format I try to actually watch them first, and then I tend to use them as background noise during working hours couple of times later. One I've seen quite a lot is Starfield experience one, and I really liked the refferences here, lol.
Yea I definitely listened to this while doing chores and homework so I’d say minimal editing and more communicative format is a lot better and saves you a lot of time :). Plus we’re focusing more on your words rather than what you’re presenting which allows us to further engage in what you have to say rather than being distracted with what’s presented on the screen and ultimately forgetting your points presented.
31:40 the weakness of demolishers are power attacks, they knock off the armor and you can almost one shot them with a good axe or blunt weapon. I’m subbing btw, this is a good video.
On the 2nd screen, while at work, in the background, how does he know!!! Love the video, loved all your others, I agree you can tone down the visuals/spectacle, maybe just a cool intro to show off your 3d skills :D but either way this video was fantastic, I haven't played DL2 since release, i didn't know it was being updated and had changed lol this video makes me want to check out the DLC!!
Man I disagreed with so many of your points about the first game, but I really appreciate the long form coverage of the series. Thank you for the video.
key word "wasnt". Now its really good and above average game worth buying. It improved ALOT and devs still aint done with the updates. Only thing i dont like is the artstyle of the menus, inventory and characters they look too cartoonish. But still its a good game now.
The development team may have intented for Rais to be another Vaas, but he's actually Hoyt. Both characters roll their R's, both wear simliar clothing, both are final bosses, both fights are quick time events knife fights and both of their underlings where yellow uniforms.
10:53 maybe in "the pit" mission, since crane got all of his stuff taken away, maybe rais got that antizin and used that same antizin as the one in the museum
@@MarcoStyle i feel like if you really truly wanted to play it, you could ask one of your fans or someone random who DOES have it in their steam library to let you use their account for a week and give you their password and stuff. i dont see why thats impossible, and you aren't some scammer or malicious person so im pretty sure people would be willing to trust you with their personal steam accounts.
I feel like dying light 2 would be so much better if they made the survivors actually good people. They literally try to murder you because you don’t have a watch despite the fact there’s literally countless Uv lamps in the bazaar. The survivor in DL2 are just renegades that are more annoying and that want you to help them. To be honest I’d rather give a water tower to the renegades instead of the survivors because at least the renegades can keep a half way decent friendship with other renegades.
Man, speaking of dead island when he mentioned it dead island riptide had them zombies where their arms were shaved to a point I wonder why no one has ever bought that bag. That is an amazing zombie that is terrifying to a player especially because they’re like the runners.
I’m watching this right after the new ‘Dying Light: The Beast’ trailer came out, it seems techland learned their lesson, bringing crane back as well as gameplay that seemed VERY reminiscent of the following, it only symbolizes good things for me.
Hei Marco, nice video. I love those long-form video, when you can deep as you want with the content. As I can see after 30 hours from uploading it "only" have 22k visualizations... But don't let this discourage you, as an old subscriber I can say that you are changing your focus to other kind of video and most of your subscribers know you for the funny Destiny video. You need to "rebrand" yourself one step at a time.
Hey I love this video. Dying Light 1 is my all time favorite game. The story is my only gripe with the game. It's not nearly as bad as people say, just cliché. I don't think it's a bad thing, but I know some people do. (Also the antizin you save early on isn't used because it gets taken by Rais's men when you fight the demolisher. I do wish it was used as a proper story beat, but that's why you can't use it when you really need it much later in the story) Dying Light 2, however, is a completely different story. The story is pretty bad, and feels super rushed in the last 2 hours of gameplay. Combat feels really poor with enemies being able to block every attack, even when stunned. And the side quests are pretty bland.
It's a shame that your Starfield video did not do better, I really liked it. The framing device around the gameplay shown, "Todd" speaking, the whole visuals, it was great. That doesn't mean that this here was bad, but the Starfield video was just better. Also I found it odd that you did not mention the omission of guns in the second Dying Light.
I definitely agree that the starfield video was better, but that was also four months of work compared to three weeks (for this video). Four months for a single video is just not doable for me right now so I'll have to make due with lesser editing. I never thought the gunplay in the first game was the best part and I didn't miss them that much in the second game.
10:39 umm I think rais took the antizin from you when his guys knocked you out and the antizin shot he gave you is the one you picked up. Soo yea it did play a part in the story
You should have included the first Dead Island game here. Maybe just a brief summary but since the same people made it I think knowing where their zombie games started would be helpful.
I thoroughly enjoy playing both Dying Light games, as they both offer a great deal of replayability. I'm glad I received the notification for this video, I used to always get your Division content notifications.
Another marko movie, where’s the popcorn? I enjoyed the first game especially in Co-op but like you said a higher level player can give you weapons to make things easier. I just couldn’t get into dl2 barely played it
Dying Light is such a special game. I love the grappling hook very much. When you're lock picking it helps to go out after three missed attempts. And go back in. Than the lock pick won't break.
Amazing video, but I wanna give one issue that I have with it, and it’s more towards the start of the dying light 2 part, which is why there are no one from dying light one (except for two people). The nuke ending isn’t the cannon ending, it’s actually the ending where crane ends up becoming a volitile.

a MarcoStyle video? on Dying Light? after DL2 released a new update that adds in firearms? oh lord we're having a good time with this one.
41:04 tackling off a roof as a volatile has got to be one of the most satisfying things ever
You say this video is less edited than the others, but imo this editing is the sweetspot for these types of videos.
Anyway nice work as always!
I watched this with full attention rather than background noise, and I didn't mind the editing style at all. Even when you mentioned it at the end I was like "What am I missing?" vs your more heavily edited stuff. Take that as you wish, but this pacing and editing is perfectly fine for me.
Good video!
Good to know honestly, I'll match my next few videos with the quality of this one.
Jokes on you, Marco. I did not listen to this in the background. I sat down & watched from start to finish. Keep it up. What I'm here for.
Marcostyle content...without any doubt clicked to watch.
Another great one, but admitting that I really miss the destiny content
i've been playing a lot of dying light recently and now this upload comes out this was unexpected from Marco lol
Hidden gem youtube channel
~Maximus
I appreciate that, thank you!
hot damn the nostalgia that came over me when i started this video...
this video is so well done bro, I sent it to all my DL friends lol. Cant wait to watch your other stuffs.
As someone who makes mainly Dying Light content, it's really cool to see you making a video on this 🔥
Funny thing I watched some of your content too when going through dying light 2. Small world.
another banger absolutely loving the longer style videos
More Marco content is always good for me, Highly editted or not.
Its mostly full attention from me both ways.
Big love.
Great video well researched and explained. This editing STYLE is right on so more please sir. Thanks again for your time and efforts on a thoroughly entertaining and informative Video. Cheers.
Absolutely love your content right now brother, keep up the good work 👊
Good stuff. I used to love Dying Light, but there were some issues that made me not want to revisit the game. Well, I think I now know why.
Boss fights are a huge Techland weakness, and that weakness persists in Dying Light 2. In fact I think it's even worse there. The open world boss spawns are fine tho because they're not there to be beaten (in DL1), they're there to be an obstacle
Now that intro is what I would call breaking it down, MarcoStyle.
I will not apologize
Amazing video, also you were completely right! It was on my second monitor while I work but great content!
Like how grounded and well explained everything is, digestible. The final part at the end of less visuals on screen and while doing other things. You kept it real man. love hearing you and looking forward to more content
it's crazy how good 1 still looks
i just bought both dying lights week before this video
But now, ciro doesnt really feel like someone that important for the player to go into carnage hall and save, he feels... well.. boring. Anyway, i guess a lot of people really disliked him, thats why a decent portion of the dlc kinda got nuked, which is a bummer
i watched the video with the visuals but on 2 different times still enjoyed the visuals please continue
I truly enjoy your videos, subscribed since Div1. On this new long format I try to actually watch them first, and then I tend to use them as background noise during working hours couple of times later. One I've seen quite a lot is Starfield experience one, and I really liked the refferences here, lol.
DL 1 is one of my top 3 games ever
Yea I definitely listened to this while doing chores and homework so I’d say minimal editing and more communicative format is a lot better and saves you a lot of time :). Plus we’re focusing more on your words rather than what you’re presenting which allows us to further engage in what you have to say rather than being distracted with what’s presented on the screen and ultimately forgetting your points presented.
I was just thinking the other day that I should play through Dying Light again. It was such a cool game
Great games. Playing DL 2 and I'm having load of fun.
I subscribed for the title and video length alone 😂
31:40 the weakness of demolishers are power attacks, they knock off the armor and you can almost one shot them with a good axe or blunt weapon. I’m subbing btw, this is a good video.
2 is really hurt by not having a less vertical map that allows for more free flow parkour
Anything in particular that stood out? I'm honestly curious.
I completely forgot about the Zee you later part. Thanks for reminding me Marco
Dying Light 1 was exquisite, it pains me that Dying Light 2 wasn't half as good as 1
It is but sure...
key word "wasnt". Now its really good and above average game worth buying. It improved ALOT and devs still aint done with the updates. Only thing i dont like is the artstyle of the menus, inventory and characters they look too cartoonish. But still its a good game now.
If you told me DL2 came out eight years ago, and DL1 came out two years ago I would not dispute it.
@@miketexas4549 until you get to the gameplay which Dl2 negs dl1 everything is so much smoother in 2 and better
@@nahfr. On a next gen console it better be! But I judge games on atmosphere and immersion, not how "smooth" it is. In this regard DL1 wins in spades.
That's an incredible theory
you forgot to talk about the in-between game: *Dying Light: Bad Blood* released in 2018.
pretty sure its still playable and able to be downloaded...
I don't have a key for that and I can't get it now actually. I wish I could
@@MarcoStyle damn that sucks. I have it in my steam library I am pretty sure I got it from techlands website for free… thanks for the reply tho.
@@MarcoStyle i feel like if you really truly wanted to play it,
you could ask one of your fans or someone random who DOES have it in their steam library to let you use their account for a week and give you their password and stuff.
i dont see why thats impossible, and you aren't some scammer or malicious person so im pretty sure people would be willing to trust you with their personal steam accounts.
These videos have criminally low views. This is great quality content.
My friend and I both said this. Like mfs you know how to reduce the transformation. You are actually standing next to the thing needed
i miss you
never played Dying Light, sense now i need to play to check what Marco is speaking of
Man, speaking of dead island when he mentioned it dead island riptide had them zombies where their arms were shaved to a point I wonder why no one has ever bought that bag. That is an amazing zombie that is terrifying to a player especially because they’re like the runners.
I can confirm, I am listening to this while I work. 🤙
I do wish it was used as a proper story beat, but that's why you can't use it when you really need it much later in the story)
Dying Light 2, however, is a completely different story.
LET'S GO PEAK IS BACK
Amazing video, but I wanna give one issue that I have with it, and it’s more towards the start of the dying light 2 part, which is why there are no one from dying light one (except for two people). The nuke ending isn’t the cannon ending, it’s actually the ending where crane ends up becoming a volitile.
destiny 2 video when?
Hi sleepy
Is your name sleepy because you had to slumber every time after getting pushed off the map?
please no.
Please no
Please no.
ooh OOH now this will be juicy I too have some takes on this game LOL
"Hold SPACE to skip" is this game's best storytelling feature.
