So people like me, which at first thought it was a mediocre looking game, ended up buying it, and now realizing....it really is a mediocre game that involves running around a bland map for hours on end, running errands while everybody else in your hub stands around, and complains, like "we need to start helping out around here." or "Hey, good job out there while I sit here and throw temper tantrums." I've dumped 12 hours into this game, finished... I dunno, 7 missions, 3 side missions, all safe houses unlocked, loot farming runs, and I truly believe that this game isn't going to get too much better at this point.

You could say Dying Light made a small impression on me about these devs, and the general care of the game xD

That first night always terrifies me. It's utterly terrifying... Because up to that point, they lock it in the day, they let you get used to it. Then you go to that area to get the antizin, and as you're watching the cutscene, it grows dark, you get a good look at your first volatile...and then one gets a good look at you, and you find yourself suddenly tossed into a heart thumping run for your life, trying to avoid the volatiles until you can give them the slip, and then you have to sneak back to the tower before they'll cycle back to daytime. Getting back to the tower without dying is nerve racking, you skulk around, try not to use your flashlight, and avoid going anywhere near the volatiles that pop up in your survivor sense.
I mean that mission is so well done and that's how you should let your players know that the training wheels are off now, welcome to *Dying Light* with the lights literally dying around you....
@@darkblade51224 It's actually crazy, I've played the game for over 4-5 years now and still haven't finished the following, I'm in no rush though now that I know the development of DL2 is a mess right now.

My favorite thing by far for Dying Light was really just the immense attention to detail. You could enter at least a 1/4 of all the buildings you saw and there was actually stuff you could loot and scavenge for in them. I wasn't big on the whole crafting thing myself, but the fact that I can run out into any group of buildings and probably enter it was just a huge plus for me. That and all the hidden environments like the closed shopfronts that you could open to loot it really just combined for a truly immersive game world that I still appreciate to this day.
Yes. Love this game. So underrated. I remember that first mission when I go out at night and one of those night creatures chased me. It was one of the first times where I felt genuine panic in a game. I didn’t know the map at this stage because it’s early in the game and I was running blindly in a blind panic, just vaulting and climbing anything in my way whilst this night zombie is screeching and grunting behind me. All whilst I didn’t have a clue which direction I needed to go in. One gaming moment I’ll never forget.
I remember playing the demo before buying the game, and was already addicted to just the demo. Every time when night falls, I’d shit my pants trying to run to a safer place, and when I couldn’t, I just hid like a lil bitch

Idk i disagree tbh i love the game with all my heart, top 3 of all time easily, but the voice acting was shitty a lot of the times, with like no emotion and the story seemed random at times and predictable at others, also with a horrible ending imo. the following is different tho, they def improved on story and whatnot,, but i agree with you 100% no games have ever been as enticing as dying light was for me and literally just running around on roof tops in old town killing zombies gave me the time of my life, 10/10 gameplay
@F꙰R꙰O꙰S꙰T꙰Y꙰ well for dying light its actually pretty solid, not really much you can do in the game once you finish it besides grind and do the fetching/escort quests
I love this game so so much but I hate when people say it’s underrated. It’s cringe to say that and its not like it has a small playerbase. The playerbase is over 18 million people at this point. That’s definitely not massive, but if DL2 comes out correctly, then it will probably be as popular as Witcher 3

It's Dragon's dogma: Dark arisen, Dark messiah of might and magic, Remnant from the ashes, Spec ops: The line. That's just some examples of underrated games. And Dying Light is pretty well recognised

One thing that DL2 should've not do is to add a healthbar. In DL, the hud elements aren't bothering you a lot, keeping you very immersed in the game. Having floating healthbars not only cuts that immersion easily, but it also cuts a big scary stuff: not knowing just how tough an opponent was. You had either to trust your guts or to learn the hard way how strong the zombies (or humans) were, and adding direct info on them like that is... erf, in my opinion.
Dude, I cant get how people do it,I have weapons that will two-shot a volatile and I still cant bring myself to go out in the night,it is way too scary for me

The camera sway and fov change when you are higher up is what makes it feel so real. The uneasy feeling you get from looking down on top of a tall building is purely caused by the genius cinematic effects they added when you're in a high area. The only other time I've ever felt like I could actually fall and die while playing a game is when I was playing super hot for vr. They really killed it with the level of detail they went with this to make it so immersive. Edit: Btw dying light has been my favorite game since I first played it and it still is. I have never had more fun playing a game. Playing dying light with my homies for the first time was such a great experience, and it really makes me hopeful for future video games in general. The fact a fairly unknown company at the time released a masterpiece like this gives me hope that indi isn't dead and that we will still have games made by people who are actually passionate about games in the future.
Don't forget that they worked with David Belle, the father of parkour, to get the parkour experience as close to reality as they could, and now of course they did the same for the sequel and there's a character model based on him, which is pretty cool, so they really put a lot of effort and love in this concept! truly a hidden gem
I loved the fact that in the beginning you weren't really that strong yet, and you really had to mash a zombie's brain in with a random club or something. Not just hit and punch. That was some powerful sh*t ❤

I played countless hours with this, even after finishing the story, until I knew every corner and building, and tried all weapons. I cannot get bored with it. It's perfection. Also, I have never encontered a bug. Ever.
its all about that gameplay loop the world hands down what made this game "so good" tbh the story was weak and the fucking fetch quests are the reason why i dont play this again for the 4th time. killing shit running around is mindless good fun but mindless also could be said for the story and thats not a good thing. i liked the plot and as a kyle im all for kyle crane but just not how stupid he is lmao. with this said tho the following story was better then the main game so they are getting better.
I’m not even a gamer and I highly enjoyed Dying Light and The Following! The graphics quality (climbing the first tower for example) and the pace of the game was a great experience. Looking forward to Dying Light 2!
This game was such an underrated gem at the time of it's release, it's nice to see such praise from a mainstream channel! This game definitely gets a 10/10 from me!
I'm playing through the first Dying Light right now after it was given away for free on Epic Games Store. I wasn't really expecting much and installed it on a whim, but I sure am glad I did. It ticks all the right boxes that make for a fun video game. The story is pretty campy but it actually works as it leans into it well and lets the gameplay be the main driver. It hearkens back to some of those second wave zombie movies like the Dawn of the Dead remake and 28 Days Later: the intensity of the horror of being in a zombie apocalypse. The exact details of the story may not be that memorable, but I bet you'll never forget that opening scene of Dawn of the Dead.
I should have received Dying Light for free being the biggest loser on the DayZ cashgrab spinoff Vigor just because Epic Games appears on Bohemia's loading screen. But at a mere $10 on sale for the Definitive Edition with 4 DLCs and all 22 add-ons, at least I'll have one less thing to gripe about 🖖
When you are walking at night and heard Volatiles's scream somewhere, that still gives me a chill even after i already have high levels (Btw in hard and nightmare difficulty, Volatiles and Virals don't appear on map so you can't see where they are).
Yet you can still detect them by using Survior Sense, so during the night you just keep spamming this ability. On Hard those suckers are very difficult to put down, on Nightmare the only resonable option is to run away.
@@mlkvblendzior That's why shotgun is your best friend in both difficulties, it still confuses me why there is no merchant sells ammo in hard mode yet they are available in nightmare mode, which like i said once i leveled up high Crane and acquire shotgun even volatiles aren't that threat anymore, still scary af tho since they could one-two hits KO me if i am not being careful..
@@irvancrocs1753 I prefer crossbow with impact bolts on Nightmare. Here's why - using firearms will attract Virals, and those fuckers are fast, tough, violent and highly numerous. Crossbow still provide a lot of punch without noice and can be used with camoflague.

They're still adding content. They just fully tweaked the hellraid mode, adding a new enemy, better lighting, i think new weapons, and a new introductory hellraid story mode. And now that they've made it possible to play in auto hdr and fps boost on series x it feels like a new gen game already. Cant even believe how old it is already.

I do however own a Switch and love it to pieces for my current living condition and my utter thrill at seeing this game be ported over was through the roof. To get to my point of what you referenced, Techland not only did an incredible job at putting this game on Switch with little loss, but a day or so after release they released a patch and idk man, their dedication and passion is pretty awesome to see.
They’ve already fucked off the modern warfare player base the moment Cold War was released which was only 1 year after mw was released. Activision are greedy twats
Oh man this game was sooo dope. Parkour was amazing. Weapons felt impactful. Loved getting “ magic”weapons through crafting mechanics. Flaming sword for the win. They added grappling. Which was so good. Judo throws were the best. Setting up enemies to fall into your drop kick or arrow shots... so good. Loved that sound drew them out too

I've dumped 12 hours into this game, finished... I dunno, 7 missions, 3 side missions, all safe houses unlocked, loot farming runs, and I truly believe that this game isn't going to get too much better at this point.
Bought it randomly a few months back and started co-oping with a friend who I often game with. We have now pre-ordered DL2 and he is mad I said I wanted to play through it solo alone first...

In 62 years of life I can say this is one of those titles I'm glad to have played - it has a place in my heart for well spent time and money.

No kidding.

I just started playing dying light last week and in my opinion it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played.
Haven’t watched video yet but thank god someone made this video. My friend and I played through this game over the winter and I was blown away. With a friend in co-op this game is just incredible. Top twenty all time. And I’ve been playing games since the Atari 2600 and seen a few games.
If you haven't played this game, I recommend it
Me too wholeheartedly.
This was one of the best games i ever played. Wow
This video dropped literal minutes after Techland posted a update video on their channel, this game is simply amazing
