To me, the 747 will always be the most beautiful, elegant and refined aircraft ever to be made..sometime toward the end of February 1970 TWA was the first to introduce them at Kennedy, and I was working that day. Driving into the employee parking lot, I saw one landing, and from that day I was smitten. Since I worked for SABENA I got to fly quite cheaply to my home country, Belgium, and always on one of our 747’s. I will never forget those experiences, most of all a whole flight on the jump seat in the cockpit. (flight was full). The 747 was and still is the « Queen of the Sky ».Thanks Boeing for making so many (about 1,540) of them. Philippe fromBradenton’ FL just landed working that day. Driving into our parking lot, one of the 2
Slight Correction: As the son of a Pan Am pilot, I have to loyally point out that Pan Am was the first to fly the 747 January 1970 JFK to Heathrow. 🙂But TWA followed it closely in February 1970. Both icons flying an icon. Flying upper deck with Lufthansa is a real treat (but they could stand to revisit the stiflingly hot cabin temp).

I flew with the Queen from Frankfurt to Buenos Aires. Best flight ever!
Welcome back to San Francisco (hope you had a great time out here)! I really enjoyed this video (and all your other videos too - very high quality and well done) - especially since your flight was on the 747-8! Thanks for what you do!
The 747-200 is the most majestic plane in my opinion, I remember when the upper deck was more like a lounge and there were square tables for each 4 chairs that faced each other. The first class passengers seated at the front of the plane on the lower deck where allowed to go up and stretch their legs and smoke 😁😁
Agree. Northwest Orient flew them between Chicago, connecting in Minneapolis, then on to Tokyo. The First Class seats weren't fully flat, but they were comfortable. And the seat pitch was enormous. I fondly remember the narrow, circular staircase used to access the lounge on the upper deck. That was a LONG time ago. 😊
The basic model 747s to this day, would still be the real deal if you can still see them. The -100, and 200, have been built up to the "basic" airplane fuselage. These two were increasingly successful models of the type. The 747-400 was also a very successful airplane in itself.
I flew with Lufthansa from Glasgow to Rome via Frankfurt earlier this month, and was surprised to see a number of 747's on the tarmac as we taxied to the arrival gate. I was unaware that Lufthansa still used them. They may be old, but they are still an impressive sight. Enjoyed the review as always. 👍
A great flight review. I'm glad you fly with Lufthansa again. I like the airline very much. The view of the Frankfurt skyline is awesome. The food look´s very good. I was happy to see the Golden Gate Bridge on the approach. Thumbs up for your great video.
I have flown Lufthansa a twice in economy. Pretty good in terms of food and inflight entertainment along with service. Will be flying business class in Feb 2024.
I flew with Lufthansa on august for a flight to Singapore (and back) also with a 747-8, also on business class and also on the upper deck ! Great memories. Thank you for the video !
In April of 2019, I flew Lufthansa 747-800 from Chicago to Frankfort and back again. Sitting in the very same seats that you occupied. It was a fantastic experience. Not only was the flight wonderful, we had access to the Polaris Lounge in Chicago and that was an amazing start to our vacation. We always fly with Lufthansa when going back to Germany
Such a beautiful plane. So happy it's flying again. Used to fly with it from New York to Frankfurt and now we see the 747 again at all major airports in this world❤
My fav aircraft was the L1011 Tristan! Am a Canadian Veteran who spent 8 hrs in Germany (Heidelberg/Mestetten) and flew Frankfurt/Toronto twice/yr. Always couldn’t wait to get on the return leg as I adored German coffee and after 3 weeks back home I realized how I missed that simple treat!
The 747 is always going to be the iconic work horse and I've enjoyed many wonderful flights with it. But sadly, its time has come. Nice to see some holding on however, Lufthansa's in-flight is a mere shadow of its former self. Looking forward to your review and I can already guess about the catering. I've always compared my experiences on the 747 with that of my one and only time on the Concorde. Completely different but nothing generates as much anticipation and excitement as knowing your ride will be The Queen of the Sky. I'm going to miss it, especially my flights when I was forward of the cockpit.
Have flown Lufthansa at least 20 times from LAX to Frankfurt (Flights 457 and 456) and a few times to Munich. By far, the B747-8 provides the best ride for the passengers. Also, I have always been impressed with the excellent service provided by the very competent and friendly cabin crews. I am a Lufthansa fan!!!
Hallo!
Great video review I flew on this flight and sat on the same seat 87A on 2nd Sept 2023 with a couple of friends and have to say it was a great experience flying Business class and my first time on the B747.
Beautiful and quiet takeoff!! I'd love to fly Luthansa someday! As usual your vlog is superb! If I never go on any of these flights or vacation/destinations your videos are the next best thing! ❤🎉
Hey Traveler. I see you brought the Junior Executive with you, YAY. In the 80's I flew the Pan Am 747 series to London and LAX from Miami. London was in First Class (travel agent tickets) our seats were in the nose cone, and the upstairs was a lounge with screen for movies. To LAX and back I flew the premium economy, right behind business class. I grew up in the 70's-80's Eastern Airlines 727/A-300 series aircraft, flying to and from the Northeast to Miami. I've been to SFO twice. It was wonderful. We stayed at the Westin St. Francis and the Hyatt Embarcadero.
I have flown mit Lufthansa 19 times,,it is without a doubt the BEST airline out there,it represents Germany perfectly,,,,keep up the great work,,,though I think the WEF and klaus schwab,,are the worst examples that germany has to offer.
thanks a lot for the great video. I went to Rio with the 747-8 and back, 2 of the best flights I ever had. Going up the stairs...there is no better feeling in a plane😎
Thank you for sharing. It looks like you had a good flight, and nice meals. I flew with Lufthansa on the 747 in May/June 2022 in economy Johannesburg to Frankfurt. I was a little disappointed by the flight, but I think at the time airlines were coming back from the pandemic and so were cutting costs where they could.
The Frankfurt city skyline returns to me so many good memories. The locals like to call it “Main-hattan”, in tribute to NYC’s Manhattan. The locals say “Main” because Frankfurt lies along the River Main.
My favorite Airplane is the A380 -800, specifically on EMIRATES Business Class. I've flown business class on others, but Emirates makes the experience magnificent. The A380 is quieter inside than the 747 and I find the Maybach styled seats far more appealing and comfortable. My next trip is on ANA business Class 777 from JFK to Japan and then to Jakarta and Bali. Then I fly KLM 777-300 to Singapore (Business Class). Frankly, I'd rather be on A350-900 Business Class the entire way.
My first international flight was on a 747, from Cape Town via Johannesburg via Frankfurt to Amsterdam & back, way back in 1995. Another trip on the 747 was from Cape Town via Cape Verde onroute to Atlanta, but a straight forward flight from Atlanta to Cape Town in 2002. Another few times on the iconic multi coloured 747 Boeing, from Johannesburg to Luanda and back. It was definitely very good flights.
There was a distinct lack of the "sky is falling in" rattle on takeoff. This is usually the case with 747's . As usual I thoroughly enjoyed your video....this time with a delightful glass of Australian red in hand !!!

@sunrise560 Strangely enough we were supposed to be on an A380 when we flew back from Singapore. This was in 2010. But the previous day one the engines exploded on one of them. Do you remember that? That's how we ended up on the 747.
@@timmeekings6899 Yes, I remember that. After that, however, as far as I know, there were no more engine failures with the A380. I flew very frequently on the A380, exclusively in business class. I prefer the A380, but even the 747 can't match its superiority (comfort, space, noise, speed of boarding, etc.). However, its appearance is more elegant.
Terrific landing shots sets the place out wonderfully i was there over 20 years ago crime and drugs were not any better back then but a great city and i agree especially compared to LA. i would’ve pointed out Alcatraz too. I rode on Lufthansa LAX to Germany in a 747-600 in business and the lie flat was great. I’m 6 ft and the lie flat is 6 ft so my head was hard against the bulkhead and my feet splayed out so I could sleep. The sleep is worth the extra money - try it some time
Been to SFO many times in my lifetime and last one was just this past July...NVR get sick of this beautiful city by the bay...yes it's the queen of the sky and although I do love the a350 too but the queen is the best and I will fly LH first time in business class next May from Frankfurt back to Singapore! Happy holidays and Merry Christmas 🎄 ❤
I have enjoyed the 747 many times but I thought the Concord was beautiful. It of course was a tighter cabin and I guess to today's standard might not be so great, but at the time, yeah very nice.

Lufthansa Business Class is so outdated they announced an update back in 2017 😂😂😂😂😂 but nothing happened until now😮

They need some lessons from Emirates business class for sure!
or some lessons from Turkish Airlines 👌🏻
