- Here is a full tour, including meal service, seats and description for the upper deck of Lufthansa’s 747-8, Queen of the skies.

I flew on this exact plane last week, booked with United but operated by Lufthansa. I am not a princess or a diva, I usually fly economy (even for 14h longhauls) or economy plus.
It was a business class sea on the lower deck, bulk-head Isle seat which was probarbly the best seat on that level.
No amenities bag, something one would expect for a 4000USD round trip ticket. Seats were arranged 2-2-2 with the legs angled inwards, privacy was non existent. One of the meals was so bad I had to send it back (I have never done this in my life, but the chicken was slimy to the point i gagged after my second bite). They brought me a polenta instead which was kind of edable. The resolution of the TV screen was so bad that I just shut it off for the flight, it was like watching an old VHS video, one could barely make out the faces on the screen. The sterwardess was however very kind, if not for that I would rate this a 1/5 for the money spent.
In contrast, the return flight was with United, also business class-bulk head and amazing. Access to a pretty incredible lounge, the food was good, ameneties bad, 1-2-1 arrangement of the seats, screen was decently high resolution and overall a great trip. The stewardess was however probarbly one of the worst ones ive experiences, but that didnt matter as the actual flight experience was good, a solid 4/5.
I am never flying Lufthansa businss class again, thats for sure.
It's best to take your complaint directly to LH Customer Service. They will do you right.
Excellent commentary. My wife and I flew Lufthansa 747 upper deck from YYZ to FRA in June and our observations and conclusion were the same as yours. Until there is a substantial revision to the Lufthansa business class product, seating arrangement and overall experience, I won't be flying them again. Very disappointing for the ticket price and we fly business class on Delta & Air Canada regularly.
It is good food for dinner or recreation .
100% agree and share your experience. One of the worst business class I have ever flown in. Never again in Lufthansa.
I will be doing the same. Lufthansa 747-8 en route to Europe, and United 1-2-1 on my return I will be in a single seat row❤. I hope my expectations aren't going to be too high.
I don't like Lufthansa but I appreciate and I love the queen of the skies and I hope Boeing will change its mind and rebuilt the B 747 with advanced technology that reduces the consumption and is more protective to our environment. It's possible!
Boeing isn’t going to bring back the 747. I wish so too
I’m sure one of the main reason (besides safety) people still fly with Lufthansa is the iconic 747. Very beautiful aircraft 😍

@@DrGariS i just do have one question. Were the business class seats a little TOO spaced out to a point where it didn’t feel cozy? Or can you recline to adjust?
@@BillyFromNYCdefinitely not. It’s an older style and I prefer much more space. If you’re looking to cozy up though these are good

Lufthansa’s business class is light years behind well-known others from the middle and far east. I’d never pay a premium when I have to sit next to someone else.
They definitely need to improve but when the rate is super inexpensive I think it’s well worth it
@@DrGariS Agreed… but ticket prices vary significantly by route. Don’t think Lufthansa has a reputation for super cheap business class fares? In any case I’d do anything to avoid their horrible “dentist chair” setup 🦷
@@radiumdudethey are usually the cheapest as I get discounted fares. They are a lot like the dentist office chairs! A little better

I am flying on a Lufthansa 747-8 in March. I am flying Business Class n the lower deck. I am 5' tall and wonder if my feet will reach the footrest. 😂

Nobody is complaining about legroom - please rewatch. There’s LESS legroom than the other comparable seats.
Not much of meals,could do better. Not very impressed. Will never pick the first seats.

I do it because it’s much more comfortable to sleep. It’s also just more comfortable in general. I guess to each their own. I’m not sure what you’re wanting as far as an answer lol.
My feet swell on long flights and shoes feel tight
Probably should get COMPRESSION STOCKINGS OR SOCKS. I t alleviates the pressure on your legs for long flights. @@georgewoodland1766

If you fly business class, dress appropriately! No old sneakers and definitely no sweatpants. It is like walking in a fine dining restaurant in your gym shorts! If you do not understand, that would explain
I appreciate your concern for my choice of footwear, but I assure you, I'm wearing Golden Goose, which is far from the typical old sneakers (Google this). Fashion has evolved significantly since 1947, with comfort being a top priority when it comes to dressing for travel. The days of formal attire during flights, like back in the 1950s, have long passed. Nowadays, it's more common for travelers to opt for comfort over traditional formal wear, and dressing up while others are in pajamas is considered unconventional. Perhaps it's been some time since your last flight or maybe you're reminiscing about the days of flying in your era? 😆
It's worth noting that the fashion norms in today's aviation landscape have shifted considerably. Your perspective seems rooted in a different era, and it's clear that you may not be familiar with modern flight experiences.

It’s not that old. Some airlines are still using older 777s and even way older 757 and 767s!
747-800 has modern engines; it was first delivered in 2011; Lufthansa's 747-8 were introduced 2012; its not that old
I'm not willing to pay for a business class ticket if I cannot streets my legs. I'm 6 foot tall. This is a joke!
For someone who’s 6 feet tall it’s not an issue and sure as heck beats economy or PE.

You are correct - there are not many at all!
Interesting: I also sat (from Frankfurt to Brasil) on row 81, on my return on row 86, I am a tall person but did not notice the difference in legroom, both flights were very comfortable. Very nice staff indeed (and I liked the pyjama tops they made available..)
That’s awesome. It’s definitely not a huge difference and the foot well kind of cuts in to the bulkhead. :)

I’m flying on a 12 hour flight on the 747-8 I picked 84K (the window seat behind the middle aisle bulkhead), I’m hoping my seat mate doesn’t fall asleep other wise I’ll have to jump over them to use the bathroom 🥲

Depends on the anxiety and thought processes. There are so many ways around it. Deep breathing and positive imagery is great. Also, where is the anxiety coming from? Fear of crashing, scared of small places, anxiety over leaving home, etc.?
@@DrGariS fear of turbulence! A smooth flight doesn’t bother me too much although the ascent is kinda scary but the turbulence just freaks me out even though I know it’s harmless
@@izabellajohannes2001 just read about it and also watch some videos on it. @mentourpilot has a video explaining it that might ease your anxiety about it. I get anxiety about flying through clouds.

It’s a “Laugenbrötchen”, just in Bavaria called “Laugensemmel”.
Outdated hard product, but LH is well known for that.
Agreed to an extent. Just flew in on a throne in OS, much better even though a little older also, but wonderful soft product on Austrian!

its not worth paying extra to fly business class with LH because if you fly alone you are not going to have privacy and the whole point of flying business is to have privacy!
Oh I think it’s well worth it to get more space on ANY international plane. If you fly in the back you’re shoulder-to-shoulder with people and it’s a nightmare. It’s ABSOLUTELY worth it, at least to me! 😃
@@DrGariS its worth to fly business even though its way overpriced but not LH first of all they dont offer 1-2-1 and also their on board service its not something especial!
@@robertgonzales3936 I won’t fly economy for these lengthy segments and if they are the least expensive by a lot, I’m happy to fly it over economy ANY DAY! So yes, it’s worth it at least to me and many. 😃. That doesn’t mean you have to see it as a value. That is what makes us all different! :)
