WOW! Call me naive but I grew up in the late 90s-early 2000s. I thought that was when MTV spring break started. I had NO idea it went all the way back to the 1980s and that the show was soooo legendary. I was blown away by all of the acts that performed over the years! Thanks to whoever put this video together! It was epic
I don't know how I stumbled across this video but it's like practically every song I grew up on in little Snippets of it I only wish I could see the full versions of all these songs I guess I got a research UA-cam for it all but holy crap!!! Talk about Nostalgia wow
People have been saying for generations that the youth are the future of this country (USA). So when you insult white people dominated rock, alternative, grunge, and metal, you're insulting the same people who grew up on those artists. For the record, The Urge, Living Colour, Fishbone, Skindred, and King's X, who are black member or black man fronted bands, would not have been possible without the influence of Jimi Hendrix, Phil Lynot of Thin Lizzy, or Tony Macalpine. Black people doing heavy metal in the 90's is no less relevant than the rise of more white rappers in the early 2000's, meaning neither are race specific.
JOHNNYGOUL you deserve a massive shout out for putting this all together oh my god wow I am blown away. Like myself in so many others here I think we are totally just in Nostalgia probably like you otherwise you wouldn't have posted this but now it makes me want to see all the full performances of all these amazing acts from back then is I myself was the lead singer and performed all over the KW area in Ontario so thank you thank you thank you this must have been a lot of work to put this video together
This was my generation spring break MTV. Block parties were a blast. Whoever watches this today I’m sorry for your block parties now. Look at South Beach spring break it’s people not paying their bills, throwing tables and chairs around from restaurants and fighting, jumping on people’s cars. It’s spring break nbc news.
@@TINKERB121 Not really. Historically speaking MTV wanted to stay "White" until they had to branch out to more viewers by featuring more Black artists.
@@GabY-yd7nt kinda underplayed the black music scene, MTV wanted to focus on Rock at the time.... one of the exec's was a black female stated this number times, but overall MTV just underestimated the potential. I would not normally ask, but do you happen to have the 1997 spring break episode of "Fame or Shame?" (i'm guessing that you may have heard of the show, since you do have THIS.) (even though it's from 1998.)
True story: The actual lady singing in "Everybody Dance Now" by C&C Music Factory was plump and heavyset. The frontman used a slender, more attractive woman to make the music video more popular. The lady singing in this montage is lip syncing.
This is before it all went totally wrong. Check out The Insanely Dangerous Retro Podshow I WANT MY MTV episode to rewind the clock and get away from 2020
I really wish MTV Classic would run MTV's Spring Break block.
Doctor Gonzo but good performances not this whack stuff now.
Music festivals took the place of these things. No big acts are gonna perform for free like this anymore.
This Was When Real Music Was Happenin' On MTV. I Miss These Days.

Funny how John Norris called it an "Uncensored Megamix" when there was no cursing or sexually explicit content during the montage.

You can see how black music started become mainstream in the early 90s. Interesting

Rawk4Life Oh yea that's right. Seems like I heard something like that, back n the day.
I still think it’s hilarious that they got pitchshifter to play the fashion show

Disagree.

Rock/white = 3, 4 secondes... Hip-hop/black = 1 secondes... Sad....
