    Your videos are really useful. As a 15 year old with a 1989 mini trying to get the mk1 look they really help showing me what to do and how best to do it.

    It was a relief when you straightened up the screws on the fuse box! 👍 Would recommend fitting the brake lines before the engine as its a bit easier. With the top engine steady removed, the engine will tilt forward enough to allow the exhaust manifold to drop into place, I've fitted an LCB and 3to1 this way. I have also fitted the top dash rail with the windscreen in place but it was a bit of a faff, don't forget the demister vents before you fit the dash rail.

    Fuse box - put the screw through and push the side of it on the inside with a flat blade driver to hold it while you get the nut on.

    If you haven't already, I would recommend installing the flexible brake lines that go to the front wheels, very difficult with the engine in place.
    Keep up the good work 👍

    Hey Tom, another great episode. Re the exhaust and inlet, leave it off, it’s just another thing that will get in the way and potentially scratch the bulkhead. They’re pretty easy to install with the engine in anyway, I did the stage one kit on my driveway about 10 years ago on my last mini so you should be fine.
    Will you be putting any sound deadening on the firewall engine side? Do that before engine if you are.
    Sucks about having to take the windscreen out again, is that for the dash pad?
    Matt

    • @TomShorrock
      @TomShorrock  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for the positive feedback bud means alot! and for the advice! :) i wont be sound deadening the bulkhead as i want the engine bay to look original, Im aware you can get black deadening but i think all the effort thats gone into the paint will be hidden otherwise :)

    Exhaust on after engine is in! Standard manifold can be put on engine before it goes in! Hope that helps! Love the videos keep them comin!

      Andrew Campbell thanks Dude! It’s the after market manifold with the Y piece so what would you recommend? And don’t worry I’ll keep them coming 👌🏻

    • @andycampbell4664
      @andycampbell4664 6 років тому

      Yes can fit to engine before hand just need to be carefull u dont scrape bulkhead when dropping in! Leave y piece until engine is in!

    • @retroautos4570
      @retroautos4570 6 років тому +1

      You can go for the y pipe or get a Single pipe. When I did my stage one kit I went for the single one. Don’t really make and difference

    If you fitting an lcb header, put it in position before fitting the motor, it is almost impossible to fit with the motor in. If you fitting a standard exhaust manifold it should be easy to fit with the motor in.

    • @TomShorrock
      @TomShorrock  6 років тому +1

    • @MaddminiVlogger
      @MaddminiVlogger 6 років тому

      Total Car Reviews if you do need to fit a lcb manifold (Y piece one) then undo the top engine mounting bolt on the engine and use a toll jack to tilt the engine forward. Will slip in nice and easy

    • @tristan20672
      @tristan20672 6 років тому +1

      Yes that's the one. put it in place then drop the motor in and bolt it to the motor. will make it much easier.

    @ 12:16 that speedo drive flange needs a gasket underneath (GUG705565GM) and a pressure plat on top (22A862) which is like a smaller version of the Distributor clamp plate.
    I would hate to see all your brilliant work spoiled with an oil leak. And like you I am a bit OCD so screw heads MUST by in line!

    If you are fitting an lcb exhaust fit an electric fuel pump dash rail can be fitted with windscreen in but not much room if going with the mk 1 look don't fit top
    dash rail

    • @TomShorrock
      @TomShorrock  6 років тому +1

      thanks for the info dude!! may i ask why you recommend fitting an electric fuel pump?

    • @minisareus
      @minisareus 6 років тому

      Because of the lcb it gets hot in the engine bay petrol was evaporating before it got to the carb the mini kept cutting out so fitting an electric pump in rear fixed the problem

    I thought my 3 2 1 manifold went In fairly easy with the engine in place as they split into 3 pieces anyway, would be easier with the bonnet completely off though. You’ll probably get a lot of personal opinions on this subject tbh.
