    one thing i would recommend for painting stuff like the brake master/ clutch master is to plug off the little ports where the lines screw in.. yoi dont want paint getting in there, dissolving when brake fluid goes through it and then screwing up the whole rest of the system with muck!

    Hey Tom - couldn't see if you had but defo brake line round the front subframe. I also built all the radiator, plumbed it in - alternator belt the lot. So much easier than getting to all hard to get screws and bolts after. Just go steady as it's a little harder dropping the engine in as it's tight! ✌

    • @TomShorrock
      @TomShorrock  7 років тому

      ginge625 thanks Dude! And yes the brake lines are plumbed in round the front 👌🏻I’ve been advised to take the alternator off and put on afterwards ? Which one do you think I should do? Thanks for the advice aswell matey! 👌🏻

      Total Car Reviews maybe alternator not so important thinking about it mate. But I'd go down the radiator route for sure 🤘

    Looking good Tom ! You’re making such good progress ! ...... one thing I would make sure you do before dropping in the engine is to get all the front brake lines in especially the front brake hoses and their pipe work at a minimum ... personally I would completely finish the braking system first , get it filled with fluid and working , it’s the drivers side hose to subframe fitting that becomes very difficult to get to ... good luck fella 🤜🤛

      One trick is to mig weld the nuts to the manifold , for the front pipe saves a lot of hassle when bolting
      up the front pipe , need hands like a doll.

    I’d recommend ditching the front engine steady that’s bolted to the front of the subframe, the bracket that goes from the steady to the gearbox snap like sticky rock. I’d invest in a top steady the bolts next to the wiper motor and the thermostat housing these are much better and keep the engine solid

    • @TomShorrock
      @TomShorrock  7 років тому

      Tony Watkinson I’ll definitely consider it! Thanks Dude!

    One thing I would recommend doing before putting the engine back in (which I'm sure you'll do) is protect the paint EVERYWHERE😂 wings, front panel, bulk head 😂

      Mathew Jones don’t worry! I have plenty of makes of masking tape and rags lined up 😂😂 I’d feel pig sick if I scuffed the engine bay 😂

    I agree with others about items to go in pre engine, brake line around front of subframe, speedo cable (attach to g/Box) and.... Engine earth strap / lead!!!

    Hey great video as always. Just a tip before putting engine. Make sure a parts are on an working as they can be hard to change when engine is in and remove the drive shafts and put in after the engine. Thanks will send in my mini when the engine is running won't be long now. Ps dont start the engine without drive shafts bolted in as will damage the gear box and surrounding parts

    • @TomShorrock
      @TomShorrock  7 років тому

      Ryan Chapman thanks buddy! 👌🏻 when you say make sure parts are working how do you mean buddy ? 👌🏻👌🏻

    • @ryan97clasics
      @ryan97clasics 7 років тому

      Total Car Reviews just make sure the engine turns over and the starter works and things like the alternator can't be checked really but i see most of the parts are new anyway. I test the starter buy living it up with a battery just to see if it engages. It may not turn the engine but if it trys that's a good sign.

    Love me some of that detailed engine bay, in the unlikely event there's spillage in there it'll be easier cleaned up when it's shhhhhhhhiney (Jim Carey style). Well it's dark early on the Prairies and next week lows are 18 bellow so time to move projects indoors, TTFN.

    great vid ! , an idea against getting you mini stolen , or rather to find it back. on websites like banggood , gearbest etc. you find more and more of these GPS car trackers , insert a sim. when the car gets stolen , you can find the car back via gps . or prevent the thug from getting away with the car. small sacrifice to prevent a great loss ! i do not own a car that is worth the money for this , but when i do get my mini i will :D

    • @TomShorrock
      @TomShorrock  7 років тому

      jerome vet yeh! Trackers are the way forward and don’t worry I will be doing a video on installing one soon! As for the wheel clamp it will just help prevent having to regrettably try and get the car back 👌🏻

    • @TomShorrock
      @TomShorrock  7 років тому

      Max Brown it’s not original mate, it’s not the original colour I have installed mk1 lights and over sized arches, I’m just trying to go for subtle mods as I don’t want to boy racer it haha! 👌🏻
