This is interesting. Aerospace (mainly r&d) is a large industry near me in the USA and the salaries you mentioned would not even be considered competitive
@@Chakamatics is this a real question or sarcasm? If not meant sarcastically, then yes, from what I can tell both the blue collar and white collar aerospace jobs get paid significantly more in the US. I only know this from trying to see if relocating would be worth while.
Can i study aerospace engineering at university without having done a level maths or physics? I’m in year 13 right now so I can’t really change anything.
Hi, I'm an international student planning to study aerospace engineering in UK. As an international student, I'm afraid I might not be able to enter the space and defence sector but I do like these sector a lot. What are your advices on this?
So it is very unlikely you'll be able to get into defence since you will have to be a UK citizen, however it isn't as clear as to what the nationality requirements are for commercial space companies, so there may be some chance for you there.
Does the aerospace industries of UK recruite the employees out UK or there are many issues related to security or defence (like space X or Virgin Galactic)?
I'd say for commercial, there shouldn't be an issue. For defence it is highly unlikely you'll get in if you're not a UK citizen but for commercial space its still not clear as to what citizenship/residency requirements are needed.
Yes, we do recruit outside of the UK, including in defence, but it depends on your country of origin and the role you are seeking. For example, engineers from countries on arms embargo lists such as Iran cannot work in many roles, and technology on the dual use lists or covered by ITAR (international trade in arms restrictions) is restricted to UK, US or EU nationals only. It all comes down to sensitivity of the role. Some civil roles are also subject to restrictions too, depending on what it is.
Airbus, Leonardo, BAE Systems, MBDA, L3Harris, Northrup Grumman, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Rolls Royce, Boeing are all operating in the UK to name a few.
Hello, I’m from Nigeria and I’m considering getting a masters in aerospace engineering for the September intakes of 2022. My Bacehlor’s degree was in mechanical engineering. What are your thoughts on combining both and what’s the job layout over there in the UK. Would I be able to get into defense aerospace with a PSW visa on graduation?
So doing a bachelors in mech then a masters in aero is great. Many people do that. The challenge with an international coming to the UK is that you'll be unlikely to get into any of the defence side of aerospace until you're a citizen. However, civil aerospace will take you if you pass their recruitment processes.
Also, I picked Further mechanics and decision for my a level further maths modules. Are these two modules do you think is okay to get into the aerospace degree ?
I see no one has replaied to you and im probably far too late to be of any use but yes. Those modules will come in very handy especially with year 1 maths modules and year 2/3 engineering management modules (depending on course layout). Other modules/ work that will be made easier include anything with dynamic mechanics and aeroelasticity.
Great video, may I ask why you decided to transition to the software industry? I am also tempted to do so because of the amount of growth and opportunity in software right now.
More freedom as to where you can work, easier to learn new practical skills i.e you don't need a lot of area/money and also greater potential to start your own company as you don't need huge amounts of cash to build a software product in comparison to an aerospace part.
@@SA64R Those are very good points. I'm still not very good at programming, but I'm only a first-year student, so at least I still have time to practice. I'll definitely consider applying to coding roles upon graduation.
Hi , I'm an international student in UK , currently studying in high school . I have a doubt that if I do a course of aerospace engineering in uk , if I completed my course here can I get a job in NASA ? Or is there any good job places in UK that hire aerospace engineers ? Is aerospace engineering is demand in UK ?
It doesn't work like that. It's very competitive and you have to be best at what you do. Plus it's better to be a aircraft maintenance engineer then an aerospace engineer. I did aerospace engineering from UK but didn't learn anything much and did get any job since I m too dumb.
Do you think it's more viable to take a bachelor in aerospace engineering or a bachelor in computer science if you want to get in the aerospace industry
Do you think aerospace engineering would also be beneficial for someone who wants to work with boats, or is marine engineering the way to go for boats?
I'd say, some concepts in aerospace such as fluid dynamics will be useful for working with boats, however I suspect that studying marine engineering will be the best route to take since you're likely to learn nautical specific content.
Hey, it is tricky because in the UK there isn't a huge number of top tier roles so many engineers are competing for the same positions. A large chunk of these companies are located around Bristol, however there are some major ones like Airbus and Rolls Royce that have sites or are located in the North / Midlands
It is more limited in comparison to other fields since there are only a few major aerospace companies in the UK because, well aerospace is an expensive business
I'd say it would be easier if you do 3 A Levels rather than 2 A levels and a BTEC. If you swap out BTEC national applied science for an A Level in physics you'd have a much better chance to get into a top aerospace engineering degree programme
