Nice video. I owned a 2015 KL Trailhawk in green and drove it from MN to FL, out west, to Yellowknife, to AK, and back to MN. Not a bad trail rig with the 3.2L but in the WI mud it was not good. Traded that on a '17 MP Compass Latitude 4x4 6spd manual. Retrofitted Trailhawk skids on it. Gearing was no good for trails. Finally found my dream rig, which I still own and daily drive...have taken to to WY twice. 2018 JKRR 6spd. Stock suspension. Damn thing is a goat and easy to get through narrow WI trails. Not fun with 30+ MPH crosswinds on the interstate.

@@seanwatson3790 you ever do the math on the wheel torque on that versus the best XJ you could buy that hasn't been regeared and has stock tires ? Your crawl is 51.2:1 (with stock tires anyway it would be) multiplied by 295 engine torque is 15,177.57 lbs of total torque headed to the wheels. The BEST old XJ (2001, phase 2) , 5 speed with 3.55 axle (which was optional, not standard ) is 38.7:1 times 230 engine torque is 8905 lbs of total torque headed to the wheels. Even my 2.4 with the 56:1 crawl with 171 torque is 9576 still beating the total torque. headed to the wheels of the XJ. Your turbo sends 6272 more lbs of total torque towards the wheels. WAY more powerful setup. Not even close. So when people say the XJ is better I'm like... Flex is all maybe. That's it though... Even with a re gear I don't think the XJ can match the wheel torque without engine mods etc. A diff swap won't be enough I think... 2.0 is a beast!
@@off-roadingexplained8417 that is the most amazing explanation of that I have ever heard. I carry about 600 lbs give or take static extra weight at all times from stock too and am dealing with elevation. But at the same time I have never ever had any issue having enough torque to climb anything. I have had a couple times where tc Intervened when I didn't want it to, but when it's letting me do my thing crawling is super easy. Plus down at elevation it feels a lot like a race car. I do not regret picking this engine at all
@@seanwatson3790 do you know if anybody has ever tried any softer springs on the Cherokee Trailhawk? I think the Dobisons actually have a 10% higher spring rate. I've never heard of anybody go in the other direction but it would certainly help I think in the flex department but it would hurt you in the towing department. I think you said in a video you've got the long travel Fox shocks are those the same shocks that MFC sells that will give you 11.5 in of suspension travel I think they said? Have you ever done a diagonal "oil change ramp" type test with it? I haven't seen a single video of a flex test on a Cherokee Trailhawk that has made any improvements for suspension travel. I'll have to make the video if I get those shocks. If somebody else wants to beat me to it go right ahead I just want to see the video lol. MFC claims SAS level suspension travel. I believe them - they seem like good honest people, I just have never seen it.
Thanks for doing the stock perspective. I suspect a lot of the viewers are like myself and have stock vehicles and wanting to preview the trail before heading out. With that said, it would be interesting to see the difference that sway bar disconnect and lockers have (i.e. Rubicon vs High Sierra).
Of course! I mostly wheel the rubicon without using lockers. I’ll disconnect the sway bar usually, but that’s something all Jeeps should be able to do (just the rubicon allows you to do it from inside the cab).

Yeah, we don’t want people to think you need expensive builds on top of expensive vehicles to see these beautiful places. My wrangler will remain stock but with more lights, the liberty will be built in a budget friendly way as I’m not rich… and they’ll both be used.
Good vid. Reminds me if when I took my commuter out ('14 CX5). It handled everything I wanted it to handle, but the unexpected lurking over obstacles had me noid. Fun though, but I'm sticking with the XJ for dirt from now on.
Love your content. My daughter thought her trailhawk was just a 4WD soccer mom suv. Then I asked her what she thought of her trailhawk after watching your channel. It's not her soccer mom car anymore
Any trails that you recommend that aren’t as harsh? Mine is my daily driver so I wouldn’t want to risk it but I’d love to take her out on some moderate trails. Thanks!
This was great because I am thinking of a new trailhawk cherokee. I was going to get a bronco sport but the one I wanted was considerably more expensive than the cherokee. If you get a chance you could get me the brand of rock rails your friend with the cherokee was using.
I might be doing the same although I’m surprised the bronco sport was more expensive. I’m pretty certain that the Cherokee will remain the most capable crossover produced though. They use rocky Road Outfitters and thanks for watching!
Awesome! Yeah, I was definitely anxious spotting him on the v-notch 😬. I think the next one will be a battle between Jeep and Toyota in the snow... it was a failed trail guide, but I think what we got might be better. I’ll start editing that tomorrow after work. Thanks for watching!
Looking to get something newer than my WJ (which a previous owner neglected beyond the motor which is a fantastic 4.7L with 243k miles). It’s a money sink to fix up just so I can take the family on some adventures like these. Besides not being able to afford a Gladiator, I do not want a Wrangler and this TH is within the price range. Fantastic video and it’s encouraged me further with it. I’m learning the aftermarket is scarce which is saddening and is why I haven’t fully committed to the TH yet. However, I am a busy body who gets creative. Maybe I’d end up a good supplier for aftermarket modifications 😅 Extra $ is great 🎉
I like the Trailhawk a lot, but it’s reliability suffers with mods. Still, if wheeled stock, it could probably still do most of the trails Sean has done (wheeler excluded). This is at the max of it’s capability. I’m definitely a wrangler guy, but I’m eyeing that Jeep Recon as my next off-roader daily driver (keeping the wrangler and liberty tho). Thanks for watching!
I think the Cherokee trail hawk is a sleeper vehicle. It comes to life when needed. I tried to buy one in 17 my wife hated it and didn’t understand why I loved it.
Inside windshield cleaning is difficult. You can find various videos and techniques on it but the best seems to be to use something like rubbing alcohol first to thoroughly degrease then move to the cleaners using microfiber towels. Interesting to see what the Cherokee will do but should just buy a Wrangler. I considered a Cherokee and Grand Cherokee but I didn't want to compromise so spent a little more and bought a Wrangler.
Appreciate the cleaning tips! I’m a wrangler person, but I absolutely see why a person would buy a Cherokee over a Wrangler. For Sean, the Cherokee is what he wanted and it has performed well. It’s a much more enjoyable ride for him. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to share these with the majority of jeep pages especially the Colorado ones as it’s taken as self promotion. I do wish more people saw them though as the drivers do such a great job in these videos! However, if anyone sees this and likes it, feel free to share it with your groups. My buddy in the blue renegade shares the renegade ones for me and that’s why they get a ton of views. Thank you for watching though!
Ok that was insane with that Cherokee. I was so nervous for him. Probably because I have a Cherokee TH identical to that one. The front brake actuated limited slip works pretty dang good. I don’t think I’d have to balls to take mine on something like this. I noticed some fox shocks in the back. What all has been done to it??
I’ll release his walkaround today which will answer your questions... was going to do it this AM, but I worked overnight and didn’t get a chance to make a few tweaks. I’ll publish it after a nap.
Awesome video dont think I'll take my renegade there anytime soon, however I am close to having it a little more offroad ready just need the tires and skids. If you need a renegade to go with to help out with the videos I'd love to. Don't have a group yet here CO but am looking for one.
Yeah, I’d love to have more renegades in videos, especially since Davon is switching to the Bronco. He tried to do wheeler in his blue renegade and couldn’t get over obstacle 2 (would have included that video here, but it was so degraded and he lost the originals). It did get through the first two obstacles which I think is impressive tho! I’m still not sure how to organize rides, but find me on Facebook and hopefully I’ll have a better plan for next summer! Thanks for watching!
Does Sean have a channel? I'm curious if/what parts he's had to replace and how often. This is an awesome KL. But I put a 2" MFC lift on mine and know they don't tolerate the geometry change well at all. Mine is new, but curious how long before I could expect to be changing some U-Joints, etc. I'll be living in Keystone over the summer, hope to check out tons of CO! Great vids!
I’ve been trying to get Sean to make a channel so he can see what goes into it, but not yet. I’ve been wanting to make that video, but I need to convince Sean. Anyway, I’ll show him your comment… he’s pretty good at responding but he can also be reached on his Instagram @thetrailhawkoverlander

@@coloradomallcrawlers me too I wanna get out on the trails just sucks with all the snow and being so stock and no recovery points other wise I’d be so down to snow bash lol.
Bowling ball was easy when we did it last year. The first two obstacles were way trickier! Great video
Yeah, it was dug out for us, but doable. The bigger rigs had more trouble on it than I did... or so they said. Thanks for watching!
Great video. This was the hardest trail I did when my TJ was stock (except for semi bald 31x10.50 Bfgoodrich AT's lol). Very fun trip.
Yeah, it’s a fun trail! Bowling ball is tougher than use to be, but would be no problem for a TJ’s wheelbase!
What a great looking trail. I definitely need to make it out to Colorado next year!
Yes you do, and when you do, let’s wheel! Also, I might be furloughed soon and I’m thinking of a little wheeling road trip (since our trails are now snow covered)... maybe I’ll head your way!
Awesome shots!!
Thanks buddy. I told you it was gonna be good !
Thank you, but it was really just Sean’s driving that made the shots look good!
@@coloradomallcrawlers aww lol
@@coloradomallcrawlers that what he does for a living!! Love the channel, love the comments and love the shots. Colorado at it's best. Hope to join you guys someday!
I’m glad you found the right rig for you! I’m not surprised about the KL in deep mud, but it’s definitely good in snow here. Thanks for watching!
Wow that was insane with that trailhawk.
Yeah! It was pretty wild. Thanks for watching!
I ran wheeler lake and the V-notch is for real, I winched out first time I was denied. I’ll be trying that again one day
I want to do it in the liberty, but the liberty will need some work to get through it I think. Loved your pics man, looked fun!
Awesome content
Thank you so much!
Bro awesome video!! I love seeing videos on what my car can do in certain situations and whatnot. My heart dropped at 9:00 o_o
I'm very surprised you don't have way more subscribers than you currently do. I hope you get many more soon!
Yeah, this was an intense one! I’ve been hearing that a lot lately and truly appreciate it as it makes me feel like we’re actually doing something people are enjoying. With that said, we started the year with 43 subs so I really can’t complain. I’m just trying to make them better by learning more on how to make them. Thanks for being here!
@@coloradomallcrawlers No worries man, you've got some great content, and I hope you continue. Good quality videos and everything. Hopefully, your channel will blow up in 2021. Merry Christmas, enjoy your holiday.
@@helixx1015 Merry Christmas! Same to you, I don’t know much about gaming, but I like the name!
@@coloradomallcrawlers Haha thanks man. I made my channel back in like 2015 or something and based it off of Minecraft, but I stopped making videos and now it's just my daily account ig.
Yeah that was crazy. I have a 19 Cherokee TH too and I was like “nope nope and nope”. 😂 my wife was sitting across the room, I was gasping she was like “what are you watching??!!” This is some great footage!
Man... that obstacle #2 with the Trailhawk. You might be the best Trailhawk driver in the world!
Sean will love hearing that! My plan is to take the liberty up to get the best liberty driver title 😂.
Hahahaha. It's funny. I won't tell you you're wrong 🤣 but you should have looked at my face when I landed , I was like oof that was a bit rough lol
I really love that you post the car specs on here.
I try and thank you for watching!
Nice video, hello from Mexico.
Thank you! Hello from Denver, Colorado!
Fun trail for sure!
Yeah, it’s a great one! Thanks for watching!
Haven’t seen a new cherokee on the trails yet, if I do I’ll gives a mold friendly thumbs up 👍🏼
They’re sweet little off-roaders! They’ll appreciate that. Thanks for watching!
That little Trail Hawk is Badass
It sure is, but it’s now bigger than my Rubicon 😂
Nicely done as stated on Overland Video group.
Thank you!
I am buying a trail hawk based off this review. thanks +1sub!
Tell Jeep that lol. Enjoy!
I've had the Cherokee Chief, Cherokee XJ , a lot of Grand Cherokees but never a Cherokee KL , jeep brother you got me looking at the KL seriously . ✌️🦆
Right on! It’s a shame they stopped making them, but they have a lot of fans out there!
@@coloradomallcrawlers the compass is ok , but No KL .it's a mistake stopping production compass is not as capable as the KL . WK 2 and KL can keep up with the wrangler and still have a smooth ride and comfortable. I've always loved Cherokees since 1974 when chief come out they are my favorite jeeps
Just joined your page. Don't have a Cherokee trailhawk, however, got a 2004 Touareg and would love to meet up and do a winter ride with u one of these days
Awesome ride! I’m currently just announcing trail days via my Facebook. Your welcome to friend request me and join… if I don’t respond, send me a message.
I don't use Facebook anymore, since I'm working on a social networking company to compete against Facebook one day
@@t-rexlanding7321 alright, unfortunately due to my schedule (I’m on call 24/7), this has been the best method. I announced yankee hill, probably 30 hours prior to filming and had to start turning people away as the group got too big. We will continually try to come up with better methods tho.
@@coloradomallcrawlers so great, I'm up in Washington state but by winter hopefully will have my boy working properly. He's been a little brat lately, 😂😂

I need me some sliders. Those were a life saver
Yep, sliders, skids, and tires are usually all you need for off-road fun!
That Cherokee is pretty amazing.
It sure is! Thanks for watching!
Love it when videos on these trips show stock height jeeps. No lift on my 2016 Rubicon hard rock
My type of wheeler! Keep at it and thanks for watching!
Wow V-Notch was sketchy as hell! Just got a 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk for my wife and love seeing what they are caoable of with a few mods.. The trail and area you guys were in was absolutely beautiful
Yeah it definitely is… I personally hate v-notches. To get my liberty up this trail, I’d have to use the v-notch I think.
Great vid man, keep up the good work
Thank you! Hopefully they’ll keep getting better!
THIS IS AWESOME.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 Ive mountain biked this trail MANY times ( ALWAYS wanted to DRIVE it in my Tacoma, but Im just TOO fucking SCARED...LOLOLOL ) YOU guys are AWESOME.. LOVE THE VIDS !!!!!!!
I’m glad we could help you figure out that you can do it in your Tacoma! You’ll have a blast… I’m trying to figure out what I’ll need to do to my liberty to take this on myself… might need to rewatch this one lol. Thanks for watching!
@@coloradomallcrawlers 👍😄👍
I'M TOTALLY HOOKED !!!!!
I like that you guys run stock or near stock vehicles
Yeah, we don’t want people to think you need expensive builds on top of expensive vehicles to see these beautiful places. My wrangler will remain stock but with more lights, the liberty will be built in a budget friendly way as I’m not rich… and they’ll both be used.
Good vid. Reminds me if when I took my commuter out ('14 CX5). It handled everything I wanted it to handle, but the unexpected lurking over obstacles had me noid.
Fun though, but I'm sticking with the XJ for dirt from now on.
Thanks! The XJ isn’t a bad choice!
Damn that little Cherokee is a beast.
Yes it is!
Love your content. My daughter thought her trailhawk was just a 4WD soccer mom suv. Then I asked her what she thought of her trailhawk after watching your channel. It's not her soccer mom car anymore
Awesome! They really are sweet vehicles! Thanks for watching!
Now I am glad I got my 2020 Trailhawk last year!

Great driving!
Sean kicked butt for sure! Thanks for watching!
That's impressive
Sean can drive! Thanks for watching!
You guys rock🤟 My wife and I love your videos. Where did Sean get his mountain decal on his window? My wife loves it 😎
Happy trails!
Awesome, thanks for watching! Hey got it on ETSY I believe... I think it’s a site where people do crafts and stuff.
Thanks for posting! My wife watched this one with me, and she was anxious for the Trailhawk!! Can hardly wait for the next video - be safe.
Awesome! Yeah, I was definitely anxious spotting him on the v-notch 😬. I think the next one will be a battle between Jeep and Toyota in the snow... it was a failed trail guide, but I think what we got might be better. I’ll start editing that tomorrow after work. Thanks for watching!
@@coloradomallcrawlers looking forward to it!
I absolutely love them, but be careful, if you lift them they’ll void your warranty! However, they are sweet and capable vehicles in stock form too!
@@coloradomallcrawlers if you do the dobinson shock/spring 1" lift, it will void your entire warranty??
AWESOME MAN. SHARE THIS WITH JEEP FACEBOOK PAGES/CLUBS AND JEEP OWNER PAGES/FORMS
you will have way more viewers
@@coloradomallcrawlers got to get that sleep in. Looking forward to seeing it!
Thanks for watching!
ok, i have respect for the Cherokee after this vid.
I’m truly impressed myself! Thanks for watching!

@@coloradomallcrawlers haha I bet but it ended up being a great run.

Does Sean have a channel? I'm curious if/what parts he's had to replace and how often. This is an awesome KL. But I put a 2" MFC lift on mine and know they don't tolerate the geometry change well at all.
