I’ve got the 2015 Cherokee Trail Hawk. Had it about eight years. I’ve always liked the aggressive look of the early versions. The thing is a beast off road or in deep snow. Still loving it.
@@Minte27 I now have a 4xe Wrangler Rubicon. But I heard the 2014s had some issues with the transmissions. I believe it was the first they year came out. Following years were much improved.
This is my jeep, I love the color and everything about it, took it off road the first time this weekend, three hours of fun in the woods, and there was no stopping us.
You guys make the best, straight forward yet informative views on all your vids. I overland in mine daily. What I tell people is don't knock it till you try it. A simple mod of putting on a proper set of AT3's makes it SO much more capable off road. If you use it, understand it and don't abuse it this little SUV (Trailhawk only) is by far the best bang for Offroad Buck. I bought the 2021, same color, and I couldn't be happier. I have taken it off-road multiple times and it is a beast in the snow, sand, mud, and rock. A few features that are not commonly talked about is the front brake actuated lockers in addition to to the mechanical rear locker. It also has a 51.2:1 crawl ratio compared to the Bronco Sport's 18:1 because the gearing allows for so much more offroad torque. It was an easy choice within the segment and price range
Very much so the best in its class! I love my '19 Trailhawk, and even stock it can follow an average wrangler down an average trail. It says a lot when my little 'fiat' is leading trail rides for the largest club in the state with no doubts!
I also would be interested as I am looking at both in the near future. Love the capability of this trail hawk edition and in my opinion good looking vehicle. I also to be honest liked the old design more.
I have the 2014, had it for 7 yrs and still love it. I recently put the falken wildpeak at3w and on snow and ice it's phenomenal. i tried to stop on a icy hill, really icy, and then it started climbing again like nothing

@@Minte27 a lot of the same as other Cherokees. Speaking just for me, I'd buy it again. Most of those with problems they found them in the first 1-2 years anyway, now 9 years later they would all be fixed I'd assume. I want a Wrangler next, but it's so hard to let go of the Trailhawk for me

I bought one a few months back and love it. My only knock is the limited space in the trunk. Other than that, this thing is great to drive, goes through bad weather like a hot knife through butter and looks pretty bad ass

@@tlalexander3 RAV4 used to offer a V6...and 3500lb towing capacity. A 3rd row was even offered for a bit. The expensive RAV4 Prime has silly power though. It's almost as quick 0-60MPH as a Ferrari Testarossa was. The RAV4 AWD systems and offroad capability are way behind a Cherokee Trailhawk though. The Trailhawk aftermarket support is better too
I like The Styling, the new nose is 100% Improvement, and it looks really good in red. The only complaint I have is the rear end, the rear is sloped too much, I realize they do it for Aesthetics but it really cuts into cargo room. My 4Runner and older Volvo wagon have nearly vertical rear windows, makes for great cargo room. Also, interesting point about the low range combined with the 9 speed trans. The number is actually a pretty low gear, it's better than the 4Runner which is only 2.61 and even the standard Wrangler is 2.72, so the 2.92 is actually pretty good. There's actually a few guys in a group that I belong to that are building and wheeling RAV4s. They look cool, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me considering that they don't have low range or any type of locking diffs. This seems like a much better candidate for a crossover build.
Yes… my ‘22 TH came with a “Top-Heavy” warning on the paperwork. I tried it out on some very curvy roads out where nobody really drives, and to my surprise, it can take tight turns really well!
I have a 2015 trailhawk and I love that thing. It amazes me more and more everyday. I actually got to use the snow setting today and have a little fun doing it lol. The transmission is awesome and for being a 4x4 suv, it’s pretty quick.
I recently just upgraded from my 08 Cherokee WK to the '15 TrailHawk, and so far, I'm so impressed with it! I go on trails all the time with me family/friends and I'm excited to go out on trails in the trailhawk!
have the 2018, i didn't get the heated seats or the panoramic sunroof, and i have never seen mine get into 9th gear.... and the transmission has never been that smooth with downshifts exc exc. i like the unit but im not sure id buy it again
I literally love my 2020 Trailhawk Elite. Definitely would recommend. Though I wish the steering was a little more stiffer, a full digital display cluster would have been nice on this trim, it was a 3.6L as acceleration from a full stop feels like it's pushing harder and that ugly muffler was a bit more discreet. I have never felt so confident on any road though.
I am on my 2nd trailhawk and love it. I had wranglers before but never got into hard core offroad.. The trailhawk is more comfortable and way cheaper. It is also does suprisingly well on trails.
its the real deal for sure.. thats why i own a 2019 Trailhawk Elite.. lil less offroad capabilities compared to the Wrangler but way more civilized. thats why i needed one to tow my SXS everywhere.
It's definitely going to be a more interesting comparison when the broncosport has been out for a longer period of time because the more competitive version is going to be the Badlands which is sitting around 39,000 you can get a trail Hawk for under 30k new. Might be a year or two before the bronco is offering rebates
I have a 2019 Cherokee trailhawk and I love it. I have taken it on several OHV trails and it is a beast offroad. With all the underbody skidplates you really don't have to worry about much.
I just picked up a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk I am really happy with its versatility and overal driving dynamics. I never thought I'd own a Jeep. I have been a GM guy my whole life.
I had a 2015 KL trailhawk and it definitely saw the mechanic a lot more than my nissan xterra. That being said it was an awesome vehicle, I've taken these off road with fully specd out wranglers and it did everything they did. No sweat.
I bought the Cherokee Trailhawk last year and I needed to find one without a sun roof. There's much more head room without it. I couldn't even get in the Jeep without banging my head. And I'm not that tall. But without it, it's the perfect vehicle for me. Love it.
@@MrNuthed In the middle, yes. But the mechanism needs space, and that makes the roof lower around the window. So you feel comfortable and when you move your head you smash it against the sides. It's weird :l
I love mine. It is my second cherokee, my first was a 2014. I now have the 2019 Trailhawk. It is a great all weather commuter for my long drive to work.
Hey Steven, you should perform the decibel test in that with the roof shade open and closed while going down the road at highway speeds. It sounded noisy.
Great review as always guys. I had a 2017 for awhile. Unfortunately had to give it up once I had two kids in car seats. At 6’2”, my knees were in the dash.
I love being 5’8" with a 30" inseam. I fit in everything. Motos generally fit me like a glove too. 'Reclined airplane seat in front of me? 'Not a problem. I barely even notice.
Just bought 2021 Cherokee trailhawk. So far I it's been great. Had 1999 TJ, lot of fun. Nice 3rd car. This is just awesome off road or 900 mile interstate trip.
Wouldn’t the subie Forrester be more of a competitor to this jeep instead of the Outback? I mean all three vehicles are very nice and very nice off-road too!
You don’t have 33’s. max with pinch weld grinds is 32 inch tires. Literally impossible to go bigger than that. Also with 2 inch lift and 32’s you are looking at a 3.5 inch lift.
@@hayden8693 I actually do have 33s. I have custom fenders that will allow 35s if I take it up a few more inches. I don't know what kind of trailhawk you have but I have out lots of money Into Customizing the way I like it. My 33s do rub on the control arms when I turn to sharp but other then that it does me good.
I like these jeeps a good bit. I am in the middle when it comes to the looks department but it would be a nice addition to my 99 wrangler TJ. The TJ could be for having fun and hard offroad conditions while the cherokee can get better MPG, haul kayaks easier and is better suited for a longer trip.
I have the 2019 Trailhawk Elite and with the exception of the small storage area ie trunk space I love everything about it. Mine has everything but an upgraded stereo. Bought it used 4 months ago with 52000 miles on it. The only other complaint I have is I wish it had a Pentastar motor instead. It's only 12 HP more then the Jeeps 3.2 but seems a lot faster on the get up and go. I know Jeep is kept a separate entity but they can put the Pentastar in the Jeep and just change the name....... Maybe call it the Pentatonix then the motor would be in perfect harmony.
Wait til the refresh comes, later this year. The 2021GC-L is the three seater and there isn’t a Trailhawk version. I had the 2018 Cherokee TH, then upgraded to the 2020 GC Trailhawk. Love it!
I enjoy your reviews, they're to the point and non-biased and you actually test the vehicles rather than driving down a gravel road and claiming to be "offroad". Someday I think I'd like the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, and the 5.7L V8.
A lifted Mojave version with an updated transmission would get me back in a Cherokee. My ‘17 trailhawk version was pretty good off road. It did way more on the trail than I thought it should do. 😬 Pretty impressive for a cross over.
Good overview like all the testing. I have a 2019 models same red Trailhawk elite just without sunroof. I'm not over 6ft and I had no complaints from passangers in the rear yet. I used to have trucks all different size and models, but at this point I don't need one. This little Jeepster still makes me feel good and fulfills all the duties. I got the V6 for the 4500lbs towing capability, now I'm looking for a decent ~3500lbs small camper. Keep up the great work!
I have a 2020 and I love it. It handled every trail I've been on with no problem. I have the 3 in lift and 32 in BFG KO 2's cause the firestone tires that come with it SUCKS.
I have a 2019 Cherokee trailhawk. It definitely will go places you wouldn’t expect it to go. The rear locker is a nice party trick. I have another year on my lease and then I’m hoping there will be a KL Cherokee Trackhawk with the hell cat engine by then. Why not??
Having an older forester, I was think a new one with turbo and a locker would be great. Doesn’t exist. But this does! Had no clue this has v6 hp and locker etc. Could be a nice upgrade since subie doesn’t have anything like this.
You missed one thing as im an owner of 2019 elite ! If you notice when your driving ! The driving lights / fog ! They turn on when you turn the wheel in that direction !
Not exactly. The first gear isn’t used in normal driving. It’s locked out because it’s a very short gear. The only way to access the 1st gear is to put it in low range. So no. It’s not a real 2 speed transfer case. The clever marketing.
I've always wanted a Jeep. We bought a 2019 Cherokee with the 2.0L turbo. Some moron dinged the door while we were at the theater. Still love the thing though. We get some crazy winters and the Jeep has no problems.
Agreed with the comment about the Good Year AT tires. Have a set on my 2016 Colorado. They are not that great in the snow. They have done "ok" on the light offroading we have done.
just find out the video, I got a 2020 TH for 1.5yrs. Its was nice to drive on road. I am thinking go offroad or camping sometime. I think may lift for few in, may be the best.
I disagree. The rear undoubtedly looks better after the redesign, but the older front end had more character. The new version is more boring/pedestrian looking.
I seriously considered one of these. I think they are quite nice and capable. However, the back seat completely disappeared when I set up my driver's seat so that kind of defeated the purpose. I bought a Ram 1500 in November and I'm very happy with it so far. Great truck. Tons of room. I'm about 6"3' and I have pretty long arms and legs.
Just bought a 2020 Cherokee trailhawk and its been great, picked up some snow tires with studs cause i live in canada where we get lots of snow and i found the destinations weren’t great on the highway when its icy, but so far the vehicles been awesome
I had a 2015 and my Family has their 2016, only issues were with both were with the Transmission Module .. the Dealer network is horrible for service.. but overall a great Daily. The Jeep Can tow great and is a beast in the winter.
Loved my 2017 Cherokee Trailhawk. I kept surprising the hell out of lifted rigs where i could take it, time and again. And the tow rating beat the best wranglers out there lol. I took mine through 95% of Hells Revenge for my very first hard core off roading run lol. Was pretty dumb to do such as a noob, but I only passed on Hells Gate and the Elevator. Did everything else. But, couldnt pass up a 2019 JLUR modded project at my dealership. I would recommend one of these to anyone though. She wouldnt make the power line run though. I think the clearance wouldnt be enough in the mud pit before the rock hill. THs are capable in any place where they wont leave their wheels hanging, or water too deep. Intake is a little low, at least in the older versions.
@@rodgood All while being completely scared shitless too lol. Lucky I had some good spotters volunteer to patiently show me what to do. First time out, you are tempted to do as you feel, and not listen to spotting. Good lessons learned.
I like the OG KL front end. The new one looks too much like a compass. Not that there's anything wrong with the compass, there's just no mistaking the older KL.
Engine 3.2L V6 24 V VVT with ESS the over head valves are controller via solenoids so reduced smog better fuel mileage and power when needed. Mine is orange blackout but they couldn't resist chrome nuts and tips why I don't know. Maybe it's a Dodge thing. Also some of the Cherokee people not happy with Cherokee badging.
Always wanted an suv instead of truck w/canopy so bought this identical one 3 yrs ago and really can't complain. Tows well, rear locker👍, good on highway and can crawl in back and crash anywere, paint scratches easy though but whatever.
Great to hear this from Canadians. Steve loved watching you on that other off-road channel based in the US but I’ve craved that Canadian perspective. We’ve been looking at a new SUV to add to the fam and this may have just sealed the deal.
It’s supposed to do that. If the headlights are on if you steer pretty far left or right that fog/driving light comes that side. If you have the fog lights turned off. It fills the dark spot good when turning.

FYI my wife and I owned a 2015 trail hawk & sport with the zf9 speed transmission ..sorry to say nothing but problems,jumping gears . .down shifts out of nowhere ? ? Various duel ac problems , brakes . .the Dealership tried there best to fix the issue's. .but that could not be done . .both vehicles had less then 25 k on them..sad because we both liked the Jeep . .just spent too much time in the shop ! Both traded for 4 runners . Not 1 problem with either one . .very sad because we always buy USA products , but when you have the headache that we had after spending close to 70 thousand for 2 vehicles . .it really was a no brainer..like myself & other's I think you guys are very informative and good at what you do ..just watch the info given on that zf transmission . .thanks for what you do .
Fun review, I own a 2018 TH. The 3.2L V6 is a great engine, but one thing that annoys me is that slight gas pedal movement at lower speeds does not translate to slight increases of speed/power - you have to put your foot into it to get the vehicle's logic to kick down the transmission and shift before it starts to let you feel any power. A tremendous amount of power hitting the street is far more reliant on that transmission downshifting that the engine actually torqueing up. However, if you stop on it, the engine really does deliver, and that nearly 300hp crossover really does put a smile on your face. Mine doesn't have the sunroof - never liked 'em. Every vehicle I've ever had with them, I never used them and had to deal with either leaks, drainage issues, rust, or scum buildup. Interesting to see the sunroof on this model introduces headroom problems - plenty of headroom in my 2018 TH without the SR. Love the review on the tires, I appreciated that. Love the Mr Rogers backing track, by the way.
I almost bought a new one of these but after doing a lot of research I don't want one because there are lots of problems with it. I am going with a Toyota 4runner TRD off road (Which he neglected to mention). They come with a locking rear end and low range transfer case and are way more reliable and hold their value much better.
I like it, I still prefer the look of the XJ though. Not to mention the thing that made the old cherokee(xj) so great, it's simplicity. Easiest vehicle to work on that I ever owned.
I hate the modern CUVs for offroading. The Cherokee Trailhawk is top of the class though. The Bronco Sport Badlands is a 2nd, but the Cherokee Trailhawk takes it...real rear locker, low-range, 2.0T power available now, and towing capacity. It's also rated for MPG similar to my 2.slo/CVT Crosstrek. It needs a set of siped mudders. Duratracs? Not much else will fit a stocker. A winch too.

Run it up the hydro line and usual off-road course, I would be interested to see how it compares to the 4Runner. As always fellows great content.

Yep I agree. I would love to see a V6 Rav 4. It would be hard for me to ever own a 4cyl even if it had a turbo,

I like it. The lights on the earlier models was something I didn't like but this one is much better.

I have a 2014 and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Trailhawk a are just badass.
I have a 2019 Cherokee trailhawk and I love it. I have taken it on several OHV trails and it is a beast offroad. With all the underbody skidplates you really don't have to worry about much.
How has the reliability been

I just picked up a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk I am really happy with its versatility and overal driving dynamics. I never thought I'd own a Jeep. I have been a GM guy my whole life.
I had a 2015 KL trailhawk and it definitely saw the mechanic a lot more than my nissan xterra. That being said it was an awesome vehicle, I've taken these off road with fully specd out wranglers and it did everything they did. No sweat.
I bought the Cherokee Trailhawk last year and I needed to find one without a sun roof. There's much more head room without it. I couldn't even get in the Jeep without banging my head. And I'm not that tall. But without it, it's the perfect vehicle for me. Love it.
Weird. Usually you get a couple inches more because of the moon roof.
@@MrNuthed In the middle, yes. But the mechanism needs space, and that makes the roof lower around the window. So you feel comfortable and when you move your head you smash it against the sides. It's weird :l

I love mine. It is my second cherokee, my first was a 2014. I now have the 2019 Trailhawk. It is a great all weather commuter for my long drive to work.
Hey Steven, you should perform the decibel test in that with the roof shade open and closed while going down the road at highway speeds. It sounded noisy.
Great review as always guys. I had a 2017 for awhile. Unfortunately had to give it up once I had two kids in car seats. At 6’2”, my knees were in the dash.

I love being 5’8" with a 30" inseam. I fit in everything. Motos generally fit me like a glove too. 'Reclined airplane seat in front of me? 'Not a problem. I barely even notice.
The 2019 Trailhawk's lines are the best of the bunch. They look awesome!

Just bought 2021 Cherokee trailhawk. So far I it's been great. Had 1999 TJ, lot of fun. Nice 3rd car. This is just awesome off road or 900 mile interstate trip.

I got a 15 trailhawk and I have a 2 inch lift on her with 33s, added an extra 4 to 5 inches to the total clearance.
What’s your mpg like
@@alaricwertz541 it didn't change much at all. Normally get around 24 to 26 MPG on highway.
You don’t have 33’s. max with pinch weld grinds is 32 inch tires. Literally impossible to go bigger than that. Also with 2 inch lift and 32’s you are looking at a 3.5 inch lift.
@@hayden8693 I actually do have 33s. I have custom fenders that will allow 35s if I take it up a few more inches. I don't know what kind of trailhawk you have but I have out lots of money Into Customizing the way I like it.
My 33s do rub on the control arms when I turn to sharp but other then that it does me good.

I like these jeeps a good bit. I am in the middle when it comes to the looks department but it would be a nice addition to my 99 wrangler TJ. The TJ could be for having fun and hard offroad conditions while the cherokee can get better MPG, haul kayaks easier and is better suited for a longer trip.
Nice review. I have an '18 Trailhawk and love it. Well mannered on the highway and truly amazing off-road.
I have the 2019 Trailhawk Elite and with the exception of the small storage area ie trunk space I love everything about it. Mine has everything but an upgraded stereo. Bought it used 4 months ago with 52000 miles on it.
The only other complaint I have is I wish it had a Pentastar motor instead. It's only 12 HP more then the Jeeps 3.2 but seems a lot faster on the get up and go.
I know Jeep is kept a separate entity but they can put the Pentastar in the Jeep and just change the name.......
Maybe call it the Pentatonix then the motor would be in perfect harmony.

My ‘17 trailhawk version was pretty good off road. It did way more on the trail than I thought it should do. 😬 Pretty impressive for a cross over.
Good overview like all the testing. I have a 2019 models same red Trailhawk elite just without sunroof. I'm not over 6ft and I had no complaints from passangers in the rear yet.
I used to have trucks all different size and models, but at this point I don't need one. This little Jeepster still makes me feel good and fulfills all the duties. I got the V6 for the 4500lbs towing capability, now I'm looking for a decent ~3500lbs small camper.

I have a 2020 and I love it. It handled every trail I've been on with no problem. I have the 3 in lift and 32 in BFG KO 2's cause the firestone tires that come with it SUCKS.
I have a 2019 Cherokee trailhawk. It definitely will go places you wouldn’t expect it to go. The rear locker is a nice party trick. I have another year on my lease and then I’m hoping there will be a KL Cherokee Trackhawk with the hell cat engine by then. Why not??

Having an older forester, I was think a new one with turbo and a locker would be great. Doesn’t exist. But this does! Had no clue this has v6 hp and locker etc. Could be a nice upgrade since subie doesn’t have anything like this.

You missed one thing as im an owner of 2019 elite ! If you notice when your driving ! The driving lights / fog ! They turn on when you turn the wheel in that direction !

Not exactly. The first gear isn’t used in normal driving. It’s locked out because it’s a very short gear. The only way to access the 1st gear is to put it in low range. So no. It’s not a real 2 speed transfer case. The clever marketing.

I've always wanted a Jeep. We bought a 2019 Cherokee with the 2.0L turbo. Some moron dinged the door while we were at the theater. Still love the thing though. We get some crazy winters and the Jeep has no problems.
Agreed with the comment about the Good Year AT tires. Have a set on my 2016 Colorado. They are not that great in the snow. They have done "ok" on the light offroading we have done.
just find out the video, I got a 2020 TH for 1.5yrs. Its was nice to drive on road. I am thinking go offroad or camping sometime. I think may lift for few in, may be the best.

I disagree. The rear undoubtedly looks better after the redesign, but the older front end had more character. The new version is more boring/pedestrian looking.

I seriously considered one of these. I think they are quite nice and capable. However, the back seat completely disappeared when I set up my driver's seat so that kind of defeated the purpose. I bought a Ram 1500 in November and I'm very happy with it so far. Great truck. Tons of room. I'm about 6"3' and I have pretty long arms and legs.
How much room you get in the back depends on who's sitting up front. Right?

Just bought a 2020 Cherokee trailhawk and its been great, picked up some snow tires with studs cause i live in canada where we get lots of snow and i found the destinations weren’t great on the highway when its icy, but so far the vehicles been awesome
Firestone Destination AT2s are awesome. Good off-road traction, Severe snow rated (3 peak), and smooth & quiet on-road.
I had a 2015 and my Family has their 2016, only issues were with both were with the Transmission Module .. the Dealer network is horrible for service.. but overall a great Daily.
The Jeep Can tow great and is a beast in the winter.
Loved my 2017 Cherokee Trailhawk. I kept surprising the hell out of lifted rigs where i could take it, time and again. And the tow rating beat the best wranglers out there lol. I took mine through 95% of Hells Revenge for my very first hard core off roading run lol. Was pretty dumb to do such as a noob, but I only passed on Hells Gate and the Elevator. Did everything else.
But, couldnt pass up a 2019 JLUR modded project at my dealership.
I would recommend one of these to anyone though. She wouldnt make the power line run though. I think the clearance wouldnt be enough in the mud pit before the rock hill. THs are capable in any place where they wont leave their wheels hanging, or water too deep. Intake is a little low, at least in the older versions.

I like the OG KL front end. The new one looks too much like a compass. Not that there's anything wrong with the compass, there's just no mistaking the older KL.

I have rented those a few times and went off road they completely surprise me everytime especially on the beach

Engine 3.2L V6 24 V VVT with ESS the over head valves are controller via solenoids so reduced smog better fuel mileage and power when needed. Mine is orange blackout but they couldn't resist chrome nuts and tips why I don't know. Maybe it's a Dodge thing. Also some of the Cherokee people not happy with Cherokee badging.

Always wanted an suv instead of truck w/canopy so bought this identical one 3 yrs ago and really can't complain. Tows well, rear locker👍, good on highway and can crawl in back and crash anywere, paint scratches easy though but whatever.

It’s supposed to do that. If the headlights are on if you steer pretty far left or right that fog/driving light comes that side. If you have the fog lights turned off. It fills the dark spot good when turning.

FYI my wife and I owned a 2015 trail hawk & sport with the zf9 speed transmission ..sorry to say nothing but problems,jumping gears . .down shifts out of nowhere ? ? Various duel ac problems , brakes . .the Dealership tried there best to fix the issue's. .but that could not be done . .both vehicles had less then 25 k on them..sad because we both liked the Jeep . .just spent too much time in the shop ! Both traded for 4 runners . Not 1 problem with either one . .very sad because we always buy USA products , but when you have the headache that we had after spending close to 70 thousand for 2 vehicles . .it really was a no brainer..like myself & other's I think you guys are very informative and good at what you do ..just watch the info given on that zf transmission . .thanks for what you do .
Fun review, I own a 2018 TH. The 3.2L V6 is a great engine, but one thing that annoys me is that slight gas pedal movement at lower speeds does not translate to slight increases of speed/power - you have to put your foot into it to get the vehicle's logic to kick down the transmission and shift before it starts to let you feel any power. A tremendous amount of power hitting the street is far more reliant on that transmission downshifting that the engine actually torqueing up. However, if you stop on it, the engine really does deliver, and that nearly 300hp crossover really does put a smile on your face. Mine doesn't have the sunroof - never liked 'em. Every vehicle I've ever had with them, I never used them and had to deal with either leaks, drainage issues, rust, or scum buildup. Interesting to see the sunroof on this model introduces headroom problems - plenty of headroom in my 2018 TH without the SR. Love the review on the tires, I appreciated that. Love the Mr Rogers backing track, by the way.
I don’t have the sunroof either- my wife has had several vehicles with them and we rarely used them. I wouldn’t pay extra for one.
I almost bought a new one of these but after doing a lot of research I don't want one because there are lots of problems with it. I am going with a Toyota 4runner TRD off road (Which he neglected to mention). They come with a locking rear end and low range transfer case and are way more reliable and hold their value much better.

I like it, I still prefer the look of the XJ though. Not to mention the thing that made the old cherokee(xj) so great, it's simplicity. Easiest vehicle to work on that I ever owned.

I would like to see this with a 1-3 inch lift and larger, more aggressive tires from the factory as a "Rubicon" model. That's just me.
You can get 2-3 inch lifts.

I would take my Trailhawk over an Outback any day of the week. I live up in the mountains on dirt roads. The rear locker is god send!
I hate the modern CUVs for offroading. The Cherokee Trailhawk is top of the class though. The Bronco Sport Badlands is a 2nd, but the Cherokee Trailhawk takes it...real rear locker, low-range, 2.0T power available now, and towing capacity. It's also rated for MPG similar to my 2.slo/CVT Crosstrek.
It needs a set of siped mudders. Duratracs? Not much else will fit a stocker.
