Welcome to the Letterman UA-cam Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.
She should've got up and taken the desk 😂
She actually got a chance to host her own talk show once, "Late Show Starring Joan Rivers", in 1986. It was the first show to ever be broadcast on the Fox network when it launched. The show itself didn't last too long though.
haha she did do that i think after this clip ends also
YES!!!! That would have been forever the funniest interaction ever!!
Great idea btw!
She did it
@@biffmasterson9786 i agree to that. They all should. Age gracefully.
We need more laughter today! I really wish we had more Joan! Truely funny!
Your comment really hit home- I’m 60 and I miss laughter on TV- it’s so political now !!! I just want to laugh ….😢
Well we can't look to Any of the Tonite Shows of Today anymore for laughs. Those days are sadly gone..
Dave may have gotten up and walked away. But quickly returned to celebrate one if the greatest comedians America has ever had. Few know how generous Ms.Rivers was, even to absolute strangers. She never forgot her own hardships.
She was stronger and more straight forward than 99.9% of Hollywood and New York and Atlanta’s media giants combined!!!
There were few, who was smart, witty and funny and fast enough to keep up with her!!!
Amazing, impressive, and impossible to replicate and/ or replace!!!
Respect for Joan Rivers!!!
Only one in a century!!!
We were lucky to experience her genuine unique talent, unstoppable fun, art, humor, honesty and genius!!!
You can make angels and ghosts laugh, Joan! We miss you, Girl!!!
That's why they killed her,she was a truth speaker. She could be arrogant at times but that was Joan.I miss her.
@@francescipriani1933 Or simply they were unprepared and unprofessional, who shouldn’t do such a serious medical procedure.
In my opinion, - because of her age and history of previous medical history-,
a bigger, more advanced facility should have been chosen for this ( or any ) medical treatment for her.
Where they are ready for any level of urgent treatment and care.
She might be still alive!
@@francescipriani1933Yea, she told the truth. 🙏🏼🩷🌸
@@funfan515agree. However it seemed she was a bit addicted to face lift procedures, she had do many and didn't take them as seriously as maybe she should have.
@@francescipriani1933and one tends to believe that who tells some truth as a joke...will be always save...
She was everthing!!! Did not care. One of the greats!!!😂
She said Michelle Obama was really Big Mike.
She was B O R I N G
She could be rude sometimes.
she told the truth about Obama's wife (the dude) and then a month later she had a little 'accident' and dies... lol
@@seaboardsystemproductions9714got murked for it
I Miss her so much, her witty comments are always funny
I miss her too. She was truly funny.
Joan & Judge Judy were close friends, that must have been a hoot to be a fly on the wall during their luncheons
Add Estelle Getty
Were they?
I didn’t know that. Man I would love to be a fly on the wall in that room.
No one knows stop spreading this
I’m not sure about Estelle Getty, but Judge Judy and Joan Rivers were in fact good friends. I didn’t know this until reading this comment. I confirmed it & there’s an interview on here with Judge Judy and Melissa Rivers and Judge Judy talks about their friendship and how much she misses her. Both amazing women and legends of their craft!
We saw her in Atlantic City several years ago, I never laughed so hard in my life as that evening! Pure genius!
I used to watch her reality show with my mother, I always laughed so hard. However, now that I’m older, I can relate more and truly appreciate her and the humor she embodies.
I saw her in Atlantic City many years ago, she was so funny.Suzanne Sommers was the was there.
Joan said 2 Suzanne Let me see your ring. Joan said Wow , you can tell your the 2nd wife they always get the bigger Diamond ring 💍, Lol😂
R.I.P. Joan and 🙏🏻
She never failed to crack me up...one of the greats
Joan Rivers was and will always be, absolutely wonderful.
He had the kindest things to say about her following her passing. Made me cry.
following her murder you mean
@@EricSeibert-g6l 💯
She insults the first "lady" of the most corrupt and evil president we've seen since Lyndon Johnson and suddenly dies in a routine cosmetic surgery? Sure. @Robert-bg7bl
@Robert-bg7blDo your homework?
I think "murder" is a bit of a stretch for medical malpractice. A completely preventable accident, resulting in the death of the patient/victim, is generally termed "manslaughter"…but did the doctor(s) and hospital get off easy by the courts?! 🤷🏼♂️
Dave laughing and thinking What was I expecting?
Dave up & bounced as if to show:
"I got nothing. I can't top that. Might as well go home now."
🤣🤣🤣
@maestroaxeman Yes! Dave always got the last big laugh with his guests. He had no comeback for that. It was actually a big compliment to Joan.
They were both hilarious here.
Dave wasn't expecting her to say "dump". So funny.
Love ya Dave!
A friend of mine can't stand for anybody to talk about using the bathroom. My filthy sense of humor has made him shudder. Dave must not be able to handle bathroom humor.
Such a legend, and I'm so grateful to have met her in person years ago at the Spago restaurant on the Sunset Strip! Joan was very nice, took a few minutes to chat, when I informed her I had tickets to her late night show on FOX.
Fast forward 3 weeks, went to see her show, and due to meeting her, was able to get 2nd row seats right in front of her! 🤗
I cried when she passed, and still miss her to this day.!😢
Thanks for the great story!
Lucky!!
Nice memory. Shame how she went. ❤🎉😊
That stretched leathery face is an eye sore. Some people still worship her but many like myself are elated that she’s gone.
Wow! That must have been awesome!!
I love Joan Rivers. She is sooooo missed!
Rest in Peace, Joan. 🕊
I still FEEL her presents 🎁 presence 👁🫵👋🏼🖕🏻🦾✌🏽🙌🏻🤙🏿🤦🏼♀️🥊🍾🥂👻🤭🤫🤗😘🥰
🙏
I almost died the way she did.
I loved her! Damn it’s a shame she’s gone.
So agree! 💯
I didn't quite understand how smart she was as a child. She really knew how to command a room
I guess Dave had to take a dump.
🤣
Thanks again.
Loved them so much!!!!
Dave tried so hard to get that image out of his head...when he couldn't shake it...he was off. 😆
He was probably a big June Allyson fan. Lol.
It probably was scripted. Especially since they talked about her walking out of the CNN interview when questioned about her jokes.
I think Dave had to take a dump 😊
What a Legend ❤still miss her.😢
Same. Absolutely admired her for her moxie and hutzpah.
I’m so glad she didn’t have to see the world turn suddenly offended by everything! She passed just in time!
Bless this soul....God, I miss her!
They had just talked about the time Joan got up and walked off an interview on CNN.
Thank you for the context.
Saw it and it was warranted and great! Loved it.
That's important context, that makes it funny instead of cringy and awkward.
Thanks for telling us that very important part of their conversation!
Johnny Carson did her wrong when he didn't have her take over The Tonight Show
Agreed!
Exactly! Worst, he blackballed her when she told him FOX gave her a talk show. It was talked about Carson was furious and refused to speak to Joan. Added Carson never invited her back as a guest on the Tonight Show. Joan was genuinely hurt, she believed Johnny was a close friend and would be happy for her news. Johnny and his ego took the news as a betrayal.
@@MrPrincepopYeah sounds like Carson was A real POS
❤ loved her wicked sense of humour
Joan was one of a kind 😂😂😂😂😂
and then some
When she died, our freedoms of speech died with her.
She was brilliant!..... Nuff said! 🤣
She still is, her brilliance thankfully lives of here as well as many other places. Her comedy as well as genuine self live on for generations to see.
One of the funniest comedians of our Era 😂
I was lucky enough to have seen her live back on July 7,2013 @ Foxwoods Casino in CT & she was absolutely amazing. She offended everybody. It didn’t matter what color you were, your sexuality, whether you were heavy or thin she just said it all and none of us could stop laughing because it was just so funny. She was amazing live.
She was truly one-of-a-kind. I miss her dearly. ❤
You never knew what was going to come out of that woman's mouth.
Oh man how I miss this woman 😂 so hilarious...in my opinion Joan Rivers and Robin Williams were 2 of the greats...they could always make me laugh on my worst day...I secretly wanted Joan as my Mom 🌹
She was one funny lady. Probably the funniest. 😂
Miss ya Joan.
She got me through some dark times. Love the way she understood comedy, a way to get you to laugh at your own misfortunes and tragedies, such is her beautiful legacy. Love you and miss you Joan
I’m so glad I came across your comment because I can completely relate! She definitely helped me get through some rough times as well. She was so inspiring just by being herself. She’s truly missed. ❤
We miss you, Joan! ❤
Love how, the band leader says to the infamous Joan Rivers, "Congradulations!". Only she can best David Letterman on his own show, love it, love it, love it! She was THE BEST!
Wowza.
What a before and after contrast!
From an unmoored ghoul to way cool.
May all our changes be that positive 🎉🎉
Joan Tivers was so intelligent she had the fastest wit ever known. For her to be able to deliver such lines was incredible
You typed Tivers. 😂
(And then I had to edit MY typo 😂😂😂)
Misspelled ......
....Rivers...
@@raymondquick33misspelled Rivers
Amazing Joan.❤
Dave your just a talk show host,it's not about you! Joan was killing it
And that's exactly why he walked off and relinquished the throne. He walked off TO RECOGNIZE her comedic brilliance, and the fact that he wasn't needed with her there. You couldn't have missed his point any worse. You're 180 degrees off.
Joan was the funniest woman and top 10 funniest people of all time
Absolutely. I can't think of a single woman funnier than Joan. And what I loved about Joan is that she roasted everybody. But for every 1 joke she told about someone else, she had 10 even worse jokes she said about herself.
If you've ever seen her on The Jeselnik Offensive with Dave Attell, its the funniest damn thing
@@joeybaseball7352oh by worse you mean good lol
She was and will always be the funniest person on earth
I miss you Joan ❤❤ I was lucky enough to meet her when I lived in Manhattan, she was wonderful!!
Wonderful to catch up with ya Joan in these video's, love
The comedic truth of Joan Rivers always gets me rolling 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Just adored Joan Rivers! 💕👏🏻👍☺️
Oh, and Dave, of course!🤸🏼😂 simply the best.
Forever grateful Ms Joan Rivers daughter Melissa and family. THANK YOU!!
I just loved her
We ALL loved her. Who didnt. I remember texting my brother the day she passed and my brother didht believe me; he said Joan was playing a joke 😢
A friggin LEGEND!!! Gone way too soon!!! Joan was a BEAST!!! A TRUTH TELLER!!!
She was a Natural comedian 👑 Joan Rivers .
I remember buying one of her birthday cards that read “I was going to get you a present but what do you buy someone who has had everyone” 🤣🤣
“ I’ll just take ovaa” 😂
i still watch Fashion Police and no one can match her.
We love you Joan Rivers❤❤❤
One of the GREATEST moments of talk show television…
She will be forever missed, and that’s an Icon in my opinion she was the queen of comedy.
ALWAYS❤AMAZING
LMAOOOOOO DAVE WALKING OFF WAS HILARIOUS LMAOOO!
Love Joan Rivers. She knew the facts and she didn't mind speaking them!
Loved & Seriously Missed
she was the absolute best ❤😂, OMG she always had the best delivery 😂that was the last thing Dave thought he would ever hear on his show, biggggg balls joan🎉❤ we are all still 😂 laughing are ass off😂😂😂
If only he had been wearing Depends, he wpuldnt have had to run so fast.
Loved Joan Rivers 😂❤
Love 💘 and miss you joan, she got me in tears 😂❤
And Dave took the jacket off. That’s what I loved most about Norm’s impression of him.
The scary thing is, in the last minutes of her life she probably knew they botched up in that clinic and wasn’t able to say any words or what she wanted to say.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤The best of Dave❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That’s why Joan is the queen of the one liners. ! 😂😂😂❤
See you in heaven Joan Rivers we watched it when you walked into the hospital and I remember what you said😢😮, and came out in a different way😢 rest in peace Joan , you are missed😢
Yes. I've been waiting for someone to say that.
Joan was a survivor and she was never cruel she used to say don't ever do someone what you wouldn't want done to yourself
The world needs Joan Rivers back 😢
What Queen Of Comedy will ever have Hugh Jackman sing "Quiet Please There's a Lady on Stage" during her funeral? Classy lady.
She’s the best ❤
Dave knew there was no topping that joke. Joan was genius!
It’s nice to see Letterman speechless 🤣The world is to boring without Joan🥀🌟
Dave is the Ken Griffey Jr of comedians! Total GOAT!
Simply the best
Wonderful woman. She did so much for people.
One of the best comedians ever
This LADY puts the FUN in funny
Dave must have needed to take a dump as well lol
Ha❗️😂
I miss her so much ❤

Joan and Dave are the best
She was speaking the truth in such a funty way👏
That caught me off guard 😂
Best comedian ever!!!!!!
Legendary!
My first love was Joan Rivers. I was in the 7th grade, and my mom let me stay up to watch her host the Tonight Show. I begged her to take me to see Joan when she came to our city. I still have the yellow and black zebra print-checkered shirt I wore that night. Great memories.
