Same here! I was fan FOR DECADES!!! She was the reason I watched the Red Carpet of awards shows. Fashion Police was my absolute guilty pleasure. People were surprised it was a hit. I was not.
Oh, he was one of the mob, doing the same stuff as everyone else, and competent, super competent. I'm surprised she didn't give Larry David the credit he deserves.
I've always said it was Elaine, Kramer and Constanza that carried the show -- BUT, Jerry was the straight man, the setup guy and he was great at it and it worked. It was a great dynamic between all of them.
Joan was brilliant in a way but she was also a bitter **** who had to put everybody down. Jerry Seinfeld may or not not be mediocre but it's very petty to say such things about others in your field.
@@Trollika_Devi bitter or not, she was making a good case of the irony of a not that funny male comedian making half a billion bucks in his career, retiring early, while a top of her game female comedian would work into her eighties to make one third of that.
My good friend Diamond Lil had the same surgery, the same week, as Joan did, and survived. They would have been greatest friends..... Now I miss them both. I wish Heaven was actually real, cuz I'd go to see them..

It's SO GREAT to hear the incredible Joan Rivers acknowledge her own brilliance. She's 1000% correct - she was, is and always will be funnier than anyone other comic. She was the best of the best and that will never change because she was an absolutely brilliant woman who could turn anything into an unforgettable joke. The world still missed her amazing humor but her honesty and sweetness as well.
This interview just shows what a genuine person Joan was, no BS about her!!!! Whenever I am feeling down I look on youtube for a Joan clip and life is good once again..... how I miss dear Joan......
I live for Joan's interviews where she's cracking jokes and being hilarious, and yet her "serious" interviews are so, so compelling. Goddamn she was a smart person--she wasn't Phi Beta Kappa at Barnard for nothing.
Have you seen the “joan rivers gets her head shrunk?” That is my favourite Joan Rivers interview, with a psychologist, and she gets into really serious matters. Joan tells the interviewer in the end that it was a tremendous experience.
People mistaken Joan’s stage persona for her real personality. A comedian always has a facade, it’s required. A comedian must be bigger than life because no one wants to pay to see normalcy. Joan played her part brilliantly. Crass, rude, unfiltered. Off the stage, everyone knew her as the best person. She gifted her team expensive necklaces (a story told to reporters by her assistants) and was always giving gifts. Her act calls Lucille many names and made fun of her appearance. Off stage, she loves Lucille. Yet, people only know her for being spiteful and rude. They don’t mention her business acumen and love for her fellow female comics and performers. Legend.
Never got the credit she deserved for being so intelligent. You can’t be a good comedian without being exceptionally bright and astute. Joan towered above the others with her perceptive abilities!
I miss Joan every day. This lady is still a powerforce of pure American talent made in New York.Eloquent, super duper smart, a trailblaser at it s best.Real comedic genius and on a league of her own.
Right?! No-one outside of America even knows Johnny Carson! He was a nobody! A local act!😒 Joan Rivers is an international icon! She was famous worldwide and loved globally!! ❤ She gives this Johnny guy way too much credit...when the rest of the world don't even know who he is?!😂
Robin Williams was someone I looked up to so much as a child. I was OBSESSED with Mrs. Doubtfire. I still am. As a kid, I remember Joan being someone who was glamorous and loved being rich. It wasn't until I was an adult that I truly appreciated her comedy and personality and I was in love. They died so close together. It was like losing 2 of my closest friends back to back.
*She was effective and a true once-in-a-millennium comedian and talent-a true, singular star-because in real life she was a fiercely intelligent woman who felt deeply and observed more deeply still. She'd hate to hear this, but yes, Joan, you were, are, and will forever remain an ICON.*
This is the reason why I will forever love and admire this woman. She conquered in an all male business, then paved the way for other female comics to make it in the business. I loved Joan. I didn't know her, I've never met her (Wish I did), but I absolutely loved her. Seeing these interviews that I've never seen before pop up here and there makes me feel as of she is still around.
The QUEEN of comedy! I have loved Joan since I first saw her. She was a comedic genius. I miss her terribly. The best and funniest lady. Thanks for sharing this. RIP Joan ❤️🙏
She was such an intelligent person. So much wisdom coming from her mouth. Listening to her have a “non-comedy” conversation is just so warming. Educational even. I miss her so much ❤
No one ever has a bad word to say about Joan Rivers and that in itself is a major statement on who she was and what she was all about. She came into my place of business one day with her grandson Cooper. She was nice to everybody and treated everyone with amazing graciousness and respect and I'll never forget it. She was a class act for sure!
I’m so glad to have seen this interview. There was an evening with Joan on British TV back in the eighties. In the audience were many comic personalities sitting there nor knowing if they should laugh. More fool them. She comes from another planet and brings joy to everyone.
29:17 "And, I will still go on stage and I still think I'm funnier than any of my contemporaries that I'm working with now." I firmly believe there is huge difference between confidence and conceit, but only a fine line that separates them. What she says there is the pure confidence of an artist who knows their craft with flawless accuracy. Clearly, she knows where the line is. R.I.P. Joan Rivers. A pure gem.
This world became a less bright n funny place when Joan died. I miss her literally every day. Fashion Police and everything else she was doing gave me life and no matter how tough life was I would think, “At least I still have Joan to make me laugh”. We love and miss you dearly, Joan ❤️🥺
Thank god she always stayed busy and did so many interviews and shows. Everyday I can still find something new from her like she’s still actually here.
Miss Joan Rivers truly was one of the greatest. Loved her tremendously then and I still love and miss her to this day. She will forever be a legend and an icon. 💖
NO ONE could touch her. She was so insightful and hilarious. Cruel? Sometimes, perhaps, but the truth hurts and she laid it all out there. She is so, so, so missed in the horrible social climate we find ourselves in now...
When I see her videos I feel like she was a member of my family . Seeing her hits my heart that much. She was able to give her true self all the time and thats admirable . She was a tough hard core comic and a true lady with a heart of gold .
I have always loved her and she helped me get through life. I met her once and wished I spent more time with her. What an amazing performer and talent and even more the kindest human being

She was one of a kind. I still love to see her, as she is one the funniest people on TV I have ever seen.
Went to a show at a casino nightclub to see her with a friend…had a table in front of the stage…she used us in her crowd work (calling us sl@ts) neither of us offended in any way (absolutely hilarious)….after the show she came to our table and sat down for a moment…gave us an autographed book and thanked us for being such good sports! She was so gracious and kind❤️
I miss her so much. Seven years on and I still find it hard to believe she's gone. Funniest person in comedy, no one will ever outshine her.
Same here! I was fan FOR DECADES!!! She was the reason I watched the Red Carpet of awards shows. Fashion Police was my absolute guilty pleasure. People were surprised it was a hit. I was not.
Joan invented "extra". Noone did it better.
Too right! So happy to have seen her in stand up - several times in NYC.
"I step over assistants." She slagged the Obamas, Barack sent a lovely message when she died. Joan raised the bar.
"So smart dick", never heard that before.
I’m so glad to see something I’ve never seen of hers. She is just magical.
Right! I hope Carrie Fisher has some gems hidden as well.
I soooo MISS HER❣️❣️❣️
I wish Joan believed she was beautiful as we saw her. And Carrie believed how brilliant she was.
I'll just pretend this is recent and she's still blessing us with her presence. What an incredible piece of work this lady is!
