I recently got a 480i CRT that has no color or sharpness loss and after hooking my PAL Wii to it via component and I was blown away by my PAL Cube games just in 480i let alone 480P. It's amazing how much detail component brings out, I couldn't believe they were the same copies I played on as a kid.
You should of mentioned Wii2HDMI. It's not a proper scaler and adds jaggies to Wii titles so preference is on a person to person basis, but it does make the GC tiltes look better for sure. It's generally around $15-$20 online but it also has an external headphone jack for audio out as well. It's a cheap alternative worth looking into for GC on the Wii even if you don't use original discs. Every time I was like "you forgot to mention" it literally happened right away. I did that about 4 times! Great episode guys!
Para-holiX I have one and the quality isn't very good. Video signal is overly bright, and sound is extremely loud and distorted unless you output audio through the 3.5mm headphone jack. I wish the Wii got more love. Hopefully some time soon the Wii can receive something like the EON HDMI adapter for the GameCube. I would be so happy for something like that.
I've personally tested with the Wii2HDMI adaptor and whilst the quality might be a little bit better I came into a few sound and graphical glitches, particularly with Melee, and so I switched back to component.
I have to disagree with your views on the Dolphin emulator. I have played with the emulator alot, and at my college's last LAN Party, I hooked up the Mayflash Gamecube USB adapter and was playing 2-Player Mario Kart Double Dash at 1080p, 60 fps LOCKED. No hiccups, no stuttering. It was great and very nostalgic for alot of us at the party. Now there are numerous games that just don't work with Dolphin, but to completely write Dolphin off as something "neat to tinker with" but with no real functionality is not right in my opinion. I have also purchased the Mayflash Wii Remote adapter and have played a few Wii games on Dolphin again at 1080p 60fps locked. And again it's great.
+VGSoundtrackGuy Dolphin is anything but perfect, but it is hands down (in my opinion) the best modern emulator in existence. It's truly amazing! The compatibility is incredibly impressive for an emulator its age. I own a GameCube and a Wii but you haven't lived until you've played Brawl and Melee with increased resolution. The only downside is that in order to get it running at full speed you have to have some pretty hefty hardware (which thankfully I do). I can't wait to see just how much Dolphin will improve over the years. To be fair they also didn't completely write off Dolphin, I just suspect that they don't have as much experience with emulators. They can be rather finicky.
Zak S As of late, My Life in Gaming has persuaded thousands of viewers (including me) to research and invest into what MLiG has recommended. And they pretty much said in the video that Dolphin is "cool" but don't expect much. Which in my opinion like I said, is not right. I cannot tell you how much joy I've received from running my favorite childhood games at 1080p 60 frames per second locked on Dolphin. Dolphin is not perfect, but it DOES work and can be the best solution for HD def GameCube as long as the person is okay with a handful of games not working on the emulator as of right now. Because of the way MLiG talked about Dolphin, it makes it sound like a waste of time to download Dolphin because of it's lack of rock solid performance in some areas. So the average viewer, the GameCube component cables or the HDMI mod sounds better than Dolphin by the way this video makes it sound. So yes, in a way it does look like they talked about it just to write it off. They could of worded the section on Dolphin better.
VGSoundtrackGuy Their issues primarily stem from the emulator not being nearly as accurate as some of the better emulators for older systems like NES or Atari 2600. Those systems can have nearly entirely accurate emulation, but Dolphin has a long way to go to claim that for most titles at this point. Also, in my experience I've noticed the audio isn't nearly as accurate in terms of sound quality as original hardware. Like they said, it's fun to play with for now, but it has a long way to go to be generally considered accurate to original hardware.
Its 2018 pcsx2 runs almost all top games dolphin to . in hd if you wanna play some shitplie of fuck game thats not on the list no one cares its the main titles people play kingdom hearts 2 final fantasy mario kart star fox smash bros and on like seriously. But people us who are smart wont spend a dime on mylife in gameing s pils lf horse fuck shit not 1 cent or 1 dollar lots of dislikes by alot of my viewers from my webiste
Aside from emulating on dolphin, using the WiiU and Nintendont is probably the best option for ease of use and quality compared to GC and component cables. Plus more controller options like the WiiU Pro controller which is awesome for that.
Found Gamecube component cable in a box of old game stuff of my dad's. I remember last year we sold some stuff to a local retro game shop. The owner was very interested in the GC component cable... but my dad changed his mind and decided to keep it. He past away, so all that stuff is mine. I'm never selling the component cable!

$7 component cables are why I prefer to play GameCube games on my Wii. I'm not a fan of modding my consoles =\ And I don't use my Gameboy Player enough to justify dropping $200.
Hello! Please could you give me some advice? I want to buy a Wii to play progressive scan Gamecube games; I got a nice, little 20 inches full hd TV with HDMI port. I've heard that the Wii2HDMI converter stretches the 4/3 original ratio of the GameCube games. Is there a way to correct that? Can I adjust the screen ratio with the TV's own menu options? Thanks in advance!!
@Risen General 6 months later however, a lot of people (me included) don’t like to emulate games and would rather play on the original hardware (or pc through steam etc)
your videos helped me beat Super Mario Galaxy. your voice is just perfect to just put on in the background and get in the zone to beat some of the harder levels, plus they're long so I don't have to change videos much. As an added bonus I have extra knowledge of GameCube cables and mods lol
I loved my gamecube when I was growing up. I ordered the component cable from their online store and still use it till this day. I hook them up to my 65 inch samsung LED tv now. I made sure when I got a new TV back in the day that it had component inputs, and my RCA 27 inch tv did, even though it was 480i, it sill looked great. My dad also had a big 65 inch mitsubishi tv from back in the day, and I would take my gamecube up and play new games on it in 480p. You better believe I played Metroid Prime day on in 480p on my dads big screen. Great video. I would say also about n64 video, that newer tvs, especially higher end tvs, do a much better job at n64 games over composite video. The upscaler on my samsung smart tv looks awesome! When people see it, they can't believe how good n64 games look on it. Much better than my 2008 lcd samsung, which made n64 games look like garbage.
+Paul Anderson [Try4ce] I agree, N64 composite on my Samsung HDTV is (in my opinion) perfectly acceptable. The noise and ugly edges normally associated with composite video is significantly diminished on the N64. On the GameCube though, composite is as ugly as it usually is.
Excellent, excellent entry to this series, and well worth the wait! I don't think I've ever been as excited about the GameCube, ha ha. I was waiting for that segment on the GB Player, and was not disappointed with the information presented. I'll look into some of the options mentioned. :) You know, a few years ago I found three brand new, official Nintendo component cables at a game shop in Japan for 700 yen each, which at that time was about 8 dollars or so. Sadly, I ended up selling them all for $75 or so each a little while later since I needed the cash. Wish I would have kept just one, if only to record portable games, since the Wii option for normal GC games works fine for me. I'll be keeping an eye out for the D-terminal cable from now on, though...somehow I didn't even think one existed for the GameCube.
+Jimmy Hapa (Import Gaming FTW!) [Try4ce] If your only need for an actual Gamecube is GB Player, I think you might be happy buying a PAL system with RGB cables and homebrew capability.
I have the GC component cables, VGA cable, and RGB SCART cable modified from component for NTSC consoles. I had all these three since back when the Gamecube was new and I only just recently found out how expensive these cables have gotten. Funny they've been sitting in a box in my storage for over a decade...
Thank you for saying using a Wii for GameCube 480p display is perferctly fine in your video. I've been arguing that for ages and for at least 5 years now have been perfectly fine with playing GameCube in 480p over the Wii's component cables (and even on an unofficial 480p passthrough HDMI adapter). I know that the GameCube has the GB player but I was never too big on GameBoy games and so I just simply use GB/GBC/GBA emulation on the Wii for my occasional GameBoy fix.
@@mylifeingaming Excellent! I'm waiting to see your review of those units before deciding which one (if any) to purchase. I have component cables that I built from a D Terminal cable so I'm not absolutely needing one but HDMI would be nice. You guys are my favorite channel on youtube, I've watched basically every one of your videos. Your videos are the reason I got into modding my own consoles and invested in a framemeister some years back. Even as an AV Engineer, info on a lot of this stuff is scarce. Really helpful info on RGB mods and cables. It's become quite the hobby for me! (hoping to get OSSC and Gscart soon)
DatGameCollector Dreamcast is simple to get the best signal from it. It naturally outputs a VGA signal, so if you use the Dreamcast VGA box (I got mine for about $50) you'll get amazing quality video. I was astounded by how incredible the Dreamcast looked over VGA. It truly made all the difference. There IS a new HDMI cable solution for the system, and while it looks miles beyond the standard composite, the VGA box is still notably clearer. Try that out if you have the ability to use VGA. My new TV has VGA on it and I've never seen my Dreamcast look more beautiful.
The poor thing is that UA-cam compresses the video and you don't get to see the real differences between those cables. Not at all. Excellent video, greetings from Brazil!
Lol i just want you all to know that this channel has given me alot of great feeling like back when i was a kid. i had been waiting all week for it and i woke up today like it was Christmas when i saw the notification with that my life in gaming logo! lol Alas i must wait again.....:) I want my cube modded.
I am so incredibly glad those crappy expensive component cables aren't the only solution. It's also nice that you showed a modder's work who won't cut into the Cube's case and make it look as natural as possible. I just think it's ugly to cut holes in the plastic instead of working around it to use the existing holes for outputs.
Dennis Forstner Using the official Wii U GC adapter with both USB 3.0 ports plugged in is better than using a third-party adapter, because on Dolphin, the dead zones on the left stick are dead-on.
if you have a wii U you can also install the nintendont homebrew to play gamecube games and you can use the wii U gamecube adapter to use proper gamecube controllers :)
Dear my GameCube, I love you. Very much. But you don't have a Digital AV Out port. This makes me sad and I'm probably going to sell or trade you, because all I want in life is to play Windwaker and SSX3 in 480p. Sincerely, Matthew P.S. This video was amazing. Thanks so much for putting the work into it. Once I track down an older GameCube, videogameperfection will certainly be getting a chunk of my money.
That's definitely an option. I really like the simplicity of just sticking in a disc and hitting the power button, though. I'm hoping the HDMI out mods will get a little more affordable in the next few years.
I use a Wii2HDMI for my Wii. It works pretty well, but I found out the hard way that certain Virtual Console games do not support the Component AV Interlace mode, the mode that converts the 240p to 567i. For now I've just swapped between HDMI and composite cables whenever I want to play one of those problem games. But I'm looking for a more permanent fix. What's really strange is that even the HDMI inputs on my generic SCART scaler and S-video scaler didn't recognize the 240p Virtual console games, and that's despite the fact they it recognized PS1 games output through the PS2 to HDMI adapter! I also found the image to be significantly darkened whenever upscaled through these scalers, whereas the Wii2HDMI on its own had more vibrant colours. The Wii2HDMI has 1080p printed on it and the box says it upscales to such resolution. But in fact it's just an analog to digital converter without any upscaling. Supposedly, you can activate the upscaling by sticking a straightened paperclick into the little hole on the side, but it does nothing. All I can feel with the paperclick is the other side of the inner plastic casing. The RGB SCART cable might solve all this, but I can't seem to find the official cable on ebay. I'm not risking my money on a generic SCART cable, they typically have noise in the audio and video. The only company I've trusted with generic SCART cables is Retro Gaming Cables, but they don't sell Wii cables. How does the DVDO iScan Micro handle 240p and 288p content? Would it work with the Wii2HDMI in outputting Virtual Console games that don't support the component interlace mode? Or is it possible to at least mod the Wii2HDMI so it simultaneously outputs composite AV through its 3.5mm headphone jack?
Jarrah White Actually there are some Wii2HDMI adapters that DO upscale. Mine does, but that adapter is known for having many versions that don't upscale at all, while keeping the "1080p" graphic on the adapter. It all depends on which version you buy. Mine is the Tomsenn version and it has actual 720p and 1080p ouput on it which can be toggled between. I'd show you screenshots but UA-cam doesn't really allow that.
Great episode. I remember buying 3 component gamecube cables back in the day off the nintendo store site for like $30 each, got 2 of them for my friends.
I actually bought the official component cable direct from Nintendo back in 2003 just to play Metroid Prime in 480p, and have hung onto them ever since. Upgrading from blurry composite was an absolute revelation at the time -- not being a PC gamer I'd never seen a game look so good. I had no idea the cables were so sought after! Or that Nintendo took the port off later revisions of the hardware. I remember the package they came in had Japanese writing all over it, which seemed really strange for a Nintendo product to not have localized packaging.
I was wondering that too. I'd think probably not, there's too many variables and different ways people go around displaying an image. I watched the full video and I still don't know if I learned anything, hahaha!
+HiTechnic [Try4ce] My understanding is that the HDMI mod does absolutely nothing that can add any lag on its own. However, because it does not do its own scale to HD, the input lag is completely reliant on how fast the display is.
+HiTechnic tbh you can just buy an hdmi converter for your Wii (google around to find the good ones as there are a few duds) from amazon, and play Melee/Brawl/PM on a good monitor with no factoring frame loss (i.e you're only losing 1-2ms at most, no frame loss) and it makes recording a breeze. If you're looking for a more pricey option, the avermedia LGP line has a component to mini HDMI connector so that you can just run component in and then hdmi out for the same effect while also being able to record with just two cables (the LGP itself shows visual feed on the computer through a mini usb connection and using their recording software.) Both options look good either way.
the analog cables won't have any lag, but if you use something that involves digital (hdmi) it will. but also keep in mind old CRT tvs have basically 0ms delay, while high end HDTVs can have 70ms delay. so if you care about competitive smash, play on a CRT TV or you're wasting your time.
+BladeBlurX I also want them to go back to the TurboGraphix, Neo-Geo, Game Gear (since they ARE covering GameBoy), Sega Saturn, and Sega Dreamcast. Also MAYBE the Wii, but I'm almost positive that the Wii U has better picture for Wii games, at least, from all of the time I've put into each.
***** I'm really hoping this isn't the case. I just got rid of my PS3 Fat that was backwards compatible with PS2. That thing was sooooo noisy. It sounded like it was getting ready for takeoff. I want to play my PS2 games looking good on an HDTV, but not if I have to listen to that noisey fan. I'd probably take the second best option.
Awesome video! Having recently come into posession of a mint condition Gamecube, I've been disappointed with the video quality through my HDTV. Once that plug and play solution that's mentioned here is available, I'll be ALL over it!
It's a shame you wrote off Dolphin as buggy/hiccupy. You guys didn't mention that it's dependent largely on your hardware; my system pretty much never runs into issues running supported Dolphin games. Gamecube emulation is CPU dependent. Would have been good info to be giving people.
+Knots [Try4ce] It's definitely impressive, but even with the dev build and some assistance (on a pretty beefy computer), we saw enough quirks to make us feel like the experience wasn't quite what it should be. But do note that emulation is not our area of expertise or the focus of our show. It's always primarily about what can be done with original hardware, but we do like to mention emulation if there's something interesting about it.
Great vid! I've been grappling with getting nice picture for my Gamecube for ages, this was super informative. Loving your work, keep it up! Thanks guys!
NY Prince I got mine for 12 quid, which amazingly means that the 20-quid SCART cable I have it hooked up to my CRT with costs more than the console itself.
Eh, the video quality out of the Gamecube's digital out is generally quite a bit cleaner than Wii's, so the Wii sits in the closet and the Wii U and GC are hooked up instead.
@@dalton2k538 It's absolutely marginal, barely recognizable as you can see in this vid. On top of that playing GC games via Nintendont on Wii improves framerates due to the higher clock speed of the Wii hardware.
If you pay attention to their reasoning in the video, some people feel the Wii distorts the colors a bit, which can be seen best in the side-by-side comparison of the red, green, and blue bars they showed in the video. For most people, though, the Wii is a great option.
Did you watch the video all the way to the end? They explicitly listed Dolphin as an option and fairly discussed the pros and cons that the emulator had at the time.
Wow. That intro gave me so much life. In fact, this is even better than High Score on Netflix! Thank you 🙏🏼 Edit: I’ve been playing my GC games on the Wii U thru Nintendon’t and it looks awesome. Very crisp imo

I bought a Japanese D-terminal cable from eBay a few years back for $30-ish and replaced the end with the three component leads I needed for my TV. Works great and minimal soldering was needed.
24:05 I'm a little confused. You say that the PAL GameCube only supports Sync-on-composite, but retroRGB.com recommends using the SNES Sync-on-luma cable for the PAL Gamecube. retrorgb.com/gamecube.html
+Jarrah White [Try4ce] I'm pretty sure that's accurate. It doesn't support S-video, so I don't know where it would pull sync-on-luma from (as far as I know, that's where luma always comes from, but I'm no expert on that matter). I forget if I double-checked all these things, but unfortunately the system is out of my hands now.

I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS.
+Zak S I run melee on 2x with a n AMD x4 860k
I have wii u emulation of the new smash bros that blow your socks off in 2160 on a laptop so . the guy making this video is making money from some sponser to advertise bullshit basically. I mean dolphine has 75 percent of games playable as of right NOW. If your games not in their go get a junk cube and run it at shitty quality. But people us who are smart wont spend a dime on mylife in gameing s pils lf horse fuck shit not 1 cent or 1 dollar lots of dislikes by alot of my viewers from my webiste
Came back almost 2 years later for a clarification on my retro project (because of this series!) and this series is still #1.
I actually thought the Wii-side looked better in that blind test.
Great video guys!
Hahaha :D Great to see Joe from Gamesack and Game Dave doing a cameo!
Nintendon't on Wii U is what I use for my Gamecube games and I love it, pretty much mainly use it now.
Aside from emulating on dolphin, using the WiiU and Nintendont is probably the best option for ease of use and quality compared to GC and component cables. Plus more controller options like the WiiU Pro controller which is awesome for that.
PairUnormal Guys You can even use a PS2 controller as well.
+mitu123Copper the image quality on wiiu is same of digital gamecube?
***** Pretty much, yeah.
mitu123Copper is nintendont an easy program to install on the Wii u?
I have watched hours and hours of these videos and I still play all my games on a composite 14" crt that doesn't even have stereo sound
GameBoy Guild Same! 😂
This is actually the best video I've watched on YT since 06. Outstanding.
Finally!!!! I've been waiting for weeks for this!!!!
Oh and #Newintroisgreattoo!!!
How come this channel doesn't have more subs? This is top quality stuff. Keep at it, you earned a sub.
+John Doe It's niche stuff and will probably go way over the heads of most casual gamers. Great channel for a limited audience, but I'm glad they're doing their thing.
i agree with you, all channels need to start somewhere.
+justin halen stfu. You are probably ugly AF. You can't say shit about them. You're being stereotypical by saying "nerds." Just because they are smart about retro gaming video quality doesn't mean they're nerds. Dumbass
Because people like viral garbage consisting of info regurgitated from Wikipedia.
I like "viral garbage" but I also like stuff like this too. :D
@@stonerdemon some won't. I use the hyperkin one and get 4:3
@@gilesgames8860 Thanks for the info, dude! I think I'll play with component cables on my 27" CRT instead.
@@stonerdemon definitely a good option!
@Risen General 6 months later however, a lot of people (me included) don’t like to emulate games and would rather play on the original hardware (or pc through steam etc)
Long live the GameCube!!!!😁👍🏼👌🏼
I don’t why i just keep watching this series over and over again.
[Try4ce] This video is mostly out of date now!
your videos helped me beat Super Mario Galaxy. your voice is just perfect to just put on in the background and get in the zone to beat some of the harder levels, plus they're long so I don't have to change videos much. As an added bonus I have extra knowledge of GameCube cables and mods lol
I have a Trinitron Crt TV at home still. Looks good to me.

I got my Component Cable for $10 at a Play N' Trade. I got REALLY lucky.
You know, a few years ago I found three brand new, official Nintendo component cables at a game shop in Japan for 700 yen each, which at that time was about 8 dollars or so.
Yes actually, been wanting to sell them but never sold on eBay and a bit scared by it. Interested?
Yes I have PayPal and use it a lot.
Yes.
Go to flickr.com/adelgary and look at the 4 most recent photos uploaded.
I sent you a message on Facebook.
Danny C. Competitive melee players just have a hard-on for expensive peripherals.
+Slater Brazeal Nah, it's more the fact that GameCubes are much simpler and faster to setup in a tournament setting than Wiis.
Danny C. wii component and the gamecube component cable video quality looks the same.
something interesting dolphin can actualy acces the stereo 3d capability and so emulate in full 3d every games with a compatible nvidia hardware.
😱
+Helloz World wii included.
Some of the best production quality on retro gaming I’ve seen online, subscribed and thanks!
You guys should do a video on the more recent developments regarding the various plug and play devices on the market. Lots of them out there now.
[Try4ce] Check back in the very near future!
So when I sent my Gamecube in for the digital out version, I actually traded in for an older system... Interesting.
my favorite system of all time. been waiting for this video for a long time. do dreamcast next.
1chi TheKilr vga and PC Monitor best combination especially PC CRT Monitor
Can you guys do one on Wii, or the original DS? I'd love that :D
cocoqui Theres really only one way to view DS Games. Thats through an actual ds, dsi, or 3ds. Or a Emulator.

"The age of cartridges on home consoles was over." Nintendo: INTRODUCING THE SWITCH!
I am so incredibly glad those crappy expensive component cables aren't the only solution. It's also nice that you showed a modder's work who won't cut into the Cube's case and make it look as natural as possible. I just think it's ugly to cut holes in the plastic instead of working around it to use the existing holes for outputs.
just wanted to say this is an amazing channel for retro gamers like myself. Please keep up the good work!
Emulation is a pretty good option if your willing to tinker with the settings. Playing with a 360 controller is weird though.
Other than the occasional frame stuttering I haven't noticed any issues with Dolphin. It's not even a big stutter, just a small one.
You can buy some really awesome USB retro console controllers. I have a USB N64 controller, and it makes emulation so much cooler.
You can buy a port or use the Wii U GCN controller adapter.
Dear my GameCube,
I love you. Very much. But you don't have a Digital AV Out port. This makes me sad and I'm probably going to sell or trade you, because all I want in life is to play Windwaker and SSX3 in 480p.
Sincerely,
Matthew
P.S. This video was amazing. Thanks so much for putting the work into it. Once I track down an older GameCube, videogameperfection will certainly be getting a chunk of my money.
I guess you don't want a Wii with the component cables?
That's definitely an option. I really like the simplicity of just sticking in a disc and hitting the power button, though. I'm hoping the HDMI out mods will get a little more affordable in the next few years.
Matthew Black What about using GCVideo?
+samuraispiritsx Damjn
I actually bought the official component cable direct from Nintendo back in 2003 just to play Metroid Prime in 480p, and have hung onto them ever since. Upgrading from blurry composite was an absolute revelation at the time -- not being a PC gamer I'd never seen a game look so good.
I had no idea the cables were so sought after! Or that Nintendo took the port off later revisions of the hardware. I remember the package they came in had Japanese writing all over it, which seemed really strange for a Nintendo product to not have localized packaging.

Still a rip-off but it looks professional.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I've been WAITING for something like this for years! If I ever get any cash for these, I'll keep this video in mind!
LOVE the Advance Wars theme for the Gameboy transition
So my final question is does this eliminate input lag enough for competitive melee?
Monitors, not hdtvs man
Wow a gamestore near me had component cables selling for only 2.50.................
nice profile pic MISSION COMPREE
I'm sure you mean composite cables.
Starner Nope they were component. I think I would know the difference between the 2.
FENTSKIM888 Might want to buy them all then, since they're only $2.50, which is 1/100 of what they go for.
+FENTSKIM888 maybe for wii
Now I just need a PS2 video. Because Gamecube/XBOX still look good on an HDTV, but PS2 games look horrid!
+Blandrew Yeah, it'll be nice to see 60Gb PS3 vs PS2.
Apparently, PS2 looks best when hooked up with packaged PS3 component cables.
*****
I'm really hoping this isn't the case.
***** Ohhhh....thanks for the clear up. Might just have to order some online. Thanks!
Really enjoyed this one. Can't wait to see you guys do PS2 and Xbox as well.
Awesome video! Having recently come into posession of a mint condition Gamecube, I've been disappointed with the video quality through my HDTV. Once that plug and play solution that's mentioned here is available, I'll be ALL over it!
unfortunately now that I've played mario sunshine at 1080P with antialiasing on dolphin emulator, i just cant play the original.
DW_Drummer well, at least i'm not the only one ;-;
Play in 480p and linedouble to 960p with OSSC and also use an Mclassic Upscaler which has zero Input lag now you should have close to emulator picture
+My Life in Gaming yeah. I figured all of that. it does take a bit of configuration on a per game basis to get desirable results, anyway.
Holly Chan Fuck you.
just installed nintendont on my wii u... wii u upscales wii games to 1080p so playing gamecube games on it is the best quality ive seen
I bought and still have the GC component cables back in the day.... I'm so glad I kept them!!!
Great vid! I've been grappling with getting nice picture for my Gamecube for ages, this was super informative. Loving your work, keep it up! Thanks guys!
$300 for a video cable? I'd be better off emulating GCN titles off Dolphin if that's the case. :P
True dat!
Just shake your ass in the club for 300$? R u dumb?
Well how do you rip a GCN Bios anyways?…
***** What is HLE?
You have to be kidding. Dolphin can run Melee at 1080p, 120 fps , and supports online play. It's flawless.
GC Component cables are $300 now.
danekarl right, but wii (which is also a gamecube) has component cables for $10 tho xD
_ JAKEDOWN951 Wii component cables wont work on the GameCube, sadly
tiagovalen I know because it's missing a chip, but a wii is a gamecube was the point. Play gc games on wii via component at fraction of cost
danekarl That's ridiculous.
I play gc games on my wii and i play in 480p, problem solved.
My wii has no component cables yet.
Yep, a used Wii is super cheap too.
The production quality of this video is outstanding. Great information too!
I have those cables ... where very expensive. It is totally a great experience to play gamecube games. Great video.
13:15
Blackak YEET
but... you can use a wii for gamecube games and they look better too that way
If you pay attention to their reasoning in the video, some people feel the Wii distorts the colors a bit, which can be seen best in the side-by-side comparison of the red, green, and blue bars they showed in the video. For most people, though, the Wii is a great option.
the family edition of the Wii doesn't play GameCube titles.
but what about the pal 480p bieng removed from GC game software? Just get 576i?
Wait, is that just for PAL and not north america?
The Wii is ultimately inferior because it cannot use the Gameboy Player.
Good video, but I'll stick to Dolphin.
Xeno Esquire I use it just for netplay smash and soul calibur haha
I use it for every Wii and Gamecube game I like to play.
Xeno Esquire wow ur cool
Did you watch the video all the way to the end? They explicitly listed Dolphin as an option and fairly discussed the pros and cons that the emulator had at the time.
I did.
It was good.
But I'll stick to Dolphin.
I can't believe I HAD a GameCube with the Component cable and sold the whole thing to a Microplay Store!
As always great show guys!! can´t wait for Dreamcast episode!!
Speed the video up by 1.25x to fix his slow ass speech
I love the passion that you guys have, and even if I don't do well with electronic and soldering and stuff, this is quite interesting.
Wow. That intro gave me so much life. In fact, this is even better than High Score on Netflix! Thank you 🙏🏼
Edit: I’ve been playing my GC games on the Wii U thru Nintendon’t and it looks awesome. Very crisp imo
another great RGB master class video guys keep it up.also im loving the new intro theme you guys have (i loved the original but for now im loving this new one as well).
I bought a Japanese D-terminal cable from eBay a few years back for $30-ish and replaced the end with the three component leads I needed for my TV. Works great and minimal soldering was needed.
This was a really cool video! You've earned my subscription!
Wow! Thanks for this guide guys! You just made my Gamecube look waaaay better (I'm using the Wii with Component cables and 480p mode).
God damn. Your videos are outstanding.. Incredible! So interesting and enjoyable to watch.
Holy Smokes! This provided all the information I needed about Gamecube cables. Thanks! Subbed!
