Glad he got to hear his favourite music as he went onto his new journey.
Hello :) Your Dad and mine clearly both loved this beautiful piece of music, which always has the power to reduce me to tears. My dear Dad died in England, early in the morning on 04Mar22. I will be ever grateful that on Sunday 27Feb22 I, via Skype, was able to play another favourite of his (Fuer Elise) which actually awoke him briefly from the deep, dementia-induced sleep he was in. It was wonderful that he recognised another favourite piece of music.
Sorry to hear about your dad. My dad died way back in 2004 and he loved this song and it was played at his funeral. Every time I hear the song it brings so much emotion and reminds me of him. I certainly have grown to appreciate these amazing songs and tenors as I've grown older. My dad's favourite tenors were Jussi Byorling and Placido Domingo but I still remember him saying that Pavarotti was possibly the best of them all.

This is indeed a gorgeous version. Another is the live concert performance with Jonas Kaufmann and Dmitri Hvorostovsky (RIP); they both put so much feeling into it. My mother truly loved this duet, and always think of her when I hear it. I was so lucky to be able to see the Met Opera's exquisite production of The Pearl Fishers/Les Pecheurs des Perles with her, just a couple of years before her passing.

I just discovered this amazing Opera Duet - and listening to Pavarotti sing, unbelievable... What I wouldn't give to have been able to see him sing live.....
I had the great pleasure to see him perform in a solo concert many years ago. I was close enough to not only hear but ts see him. He was not only a great artist but he had the ability to make every person there feel like he was singing to them alone. An evening I will never forget. BRAVO

Now if u and Thomas Kohler sang it THAT would not come close! But this, this does come close! Peace!
Great, almost as perfect as Dmitri Hvorostoski and Jonas Kaufmann.
Well, actually there is no comparison. DH was a good singer but nowhere as good as Ghiaurov, but Kaufmann - - - are you kidding me? He sang with a fake technique and now his voice is ruined
This is sublime
Here comes the fire. OMG. They're covered in it. But the ad was tragically placed.
How is it possible that the world has no clue and today accepts the HORROR voices ..listen ..listen...there is no voice in the world today with that height ..both of them,... technique ..why??? Are the sounds different???...no throat...no pushing..drama..yes. But destroying the voice in the throat...no no no...listen and object to the stuff that they are selling today . We need REAL BEL CANTO, REAL VOICE...THAT KNOW HOW TO CONNECT TO GREATNESS AGAIN!!!
Восхитительно!
I still prefer the Bjoling...., Merrall rendition, just superb.
if only we could have heard them through today's recording ability!
that is the best to me, but this version is great, seem very early years of Pavarotti, it is different thing at later years when he did ton of recordings...
Wunderschön :)!!! 😁 😂 😂 Mein Herz geht auf!
Pavarotti's French diction could have been much better.
Better is not possible…
Pavarotti , the best lyrical tenor ever. Beautiful voice.
Прекрасно! Благодаря Ви!
I love the lyrics written by Bizet for Carmen too.
Magnifique, chant bien conduit , dommage pour l'accent .....mais j'ai préféré le duo Bjoerling Merril
Qui est à mon avis la référence dans le domaine des registres non légers.
Me to!
Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the only version of the duet I understood the French ! God I like Nicolai
One of my late fathers favourites 😢
