Why would such a gifted and talented Soul, feel he could only end his life with an air gun. Jerry...rest in peace, no longer tormented by your personal demons....salute!
What a sad moment in music that was. I read that it put him in a coma but he was determined to be unrecoverable from the state he was put in from the brain damage. Truly a tragic loss. I think about Jerry's voice all the time and wonder why, but then you can hear the sorrow of his voice in many of his performances. Something about that in Jerry Hadley may have fueled his entire career before the decline in Opera weighed heavily on him, especially when entering the later half of his life.
These duets with Thomas Hampson and Jerry Hadley are some of my very favorites. Their voices are so full of emotion. Rest in peace, Jerry. Such a tragedy.
They also sang this as part of James Levine's 25th anniversary at the Met--sheer perfection. Can't hear Jerry Hadley without feeling a pang at his leaving this earth way too soon--I can imagine him, under other circumstances, going on to have quite the impact at a teacher.
“Discovered” Jerry Hadley when Hampson brought him along for what Seattle audiences thought was going to be a solo recital. Wow! Everyone in the house (some 3,000) was and still is grateful for this introduction. Both men did solos as well as duets. One of my favorite memories, from the early 90s.
It's good but if you like this song try this one ua-cam.com/video/5PYt2HlBuyI/v-deo.html its Jussi Björling & Robert Merrill. I'ts the absolut best in my opinion by far :)
Magnifico , potrebbe essere un inno ufficiale per le coppie Gay .Quando in Vatikanistan , pardon Italy , saranno permesse le nozze per tutti , vorrà' ascoltare questa aria con l'Uomo della mia vita.
Two beautiful voices and a gorgeous duet. What a pity that Hadley's voice began to slide down afterwards. And no doubt in my mind that this is the reason why he took his own life. Also, no doubt that his "nutcase" teacher Tommy LoMonaco caused it all with his insane method of laryngeal manipulations, et al.!!
This is so beautiful, even if it brings sadness to listen to. Poor Thomas Hampson must have been heartbroken to lose such a good friend. ❤

OMG I had no idea. What a loss to music.

They were lovely together. Such a pain to loose Jerry so early.
What a lovely performance. And so on brand that a Boston Pops audience would start applauding before the music ends!
Tom and Jerry. ♥️

Bizet è sempre meraviglioso, quante emozioni suscita.
Beautiful ❤
*”how could you think i’d ever want to hurt you?” she said, and crumpled to the floor.*

Unfathomable that Jerry Hadley blew his brains out. :(

BRAVI
Tragic end for jerry
What shall it profit etc etc!
Brotherly love surpasses all other loves
Jesus the saviour!
Two tenors. One undeveloped and one VERY developed. The real deal is standing to the right...
Are you kidding: two tenors??? Bizet wrote it for a tenor and a baritone and Mr. Hampson is indeed no tenor, but Mr Hadley
Michael Füting
Not kidding. Hampson is no real baritone , he’s more of an undeveloped tenor.
@@draganvidic2039 Do you think he could be what we call a Heldentenor?
Michael Füting
That I don’t know
@@draganvidic2039 your completely right! We call Hampson an undeveloped tenor! His voice has no depth. Jerry Hadley on the other hand is AMAZING.
大哥作为一个英国人,英语说得真好
Ik doe allen de colecte😅❤😇🥰😅
Americans are not known for opera. Valiant peerless effort.
Is it me or is the tempo way too slow?
You'd expect Hadley to pronounce French better when speaking.
Hadley raises his chest while breathing. Big mistake. But it goes with his thin white tone. Vocal destruction is the result of singing like this.
