- So I just picked up a 2012 Golf R last week, and I've been hearing this really annoying rattle inside in the front passenger area. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from for the life of me. Finally sourced it to being the fuel rails that run through the frame where the floor turns up to the firewall (green line to be specific).
A quick ziptie (not too tight) and making a little slack on the line, and the problem has disappeared! FINALLY!!! - Ігри
Had the SAME ISSUE and it was getting me to go crazy!!! The VW guys fixed it with some foam (to fill up the gap space) and the problem was solved. Your solution seams to be more professional!!!
thanks !
Thank you so much! Heard about this issue forever, thennit showed its face on both my MK5 GTI and my MK6 R! Will be happy to do this quick fix on both! Thanks again!!!

Jacob I have the same issue, has the rattle come back? Also is it pretty easy to remove the plastic shield on the bottom?
Nope. Stayed quiet, and yeah they're easy to remove.
bruh if all it takes is a few zip ties why the FUUUUCK don't they do that at the factory
If you ever find the answer, be sure to let us know!!
Hey I'm having the same rattle on my 2015 mk7 tsi but not a gearhead so not sure what to open up to access that fuel line. Any help?
I'm not familiar with the MQB platform unfortunately. However, I am sure it is similar and you just need to find the screws holding the plastic trays in place under the car.
i have what i think is wastegate rattle.does this fuel line rattle sound like a metallic can type ticking noise especially on cold starts?
Sounds more like plastic tapping really fast. I would usually only hear it at idle rpms, so at start up, coming to stop signs/lights.
Beauty and the Beasts hey man do you have any videos of the actual rattle? Mine has been doing this on and off for the last year. I notice it more at certain temperatures outside, did your rattle go away if you were parked or sitting at a light and gave it some throttle in neutral? I notice mine completely stops when I do that, then when it’s back at idle it starts up again and goes away randomly.
No videos of it anymore unfortunately, but it was pretty obvious. Sounded almost like there was a woodpecker under my front passenger footwell. Only really heard it at idle rpms while stopped.
