  • This video covers why you have to jiggle a key in your ignition, decoding your bitting on your key, and rekeying a new ignition kit from a auto parts house.
    This is pretty detailed work so please try to find a local locksmith prior to attempting if you are unfamiliar with working with tiny parts!
    If you are having to jiggle your key in your ignition switch from a circa 1995-2005 ish GM vehicle and think you need a new ignition FIRST & FOREMOST get your key decided by a locksmith and CODE CUT back to original before you buy a new ignition. If the problem (with jiggling) just started 99 times out of 100 the fresh code cut (not a copy of your jet but cut back to original like we show in this video) will work in your ignition just fine again.
    If you let the problem persist you will eventually mess up the ignition and it won’t turn at all leaving you stranded so get it tended to immediately when you start having issues! Or don’t, and spend a WHOLE lot more money fixing it!

    A great instructional video takes a complex task and explains/demonstrates it where you feel like you could do it yourself!

    The first 3 seconds of this video says it all. You can just take your title or registration or some proof of ownership to most makes of vehicles to the new car dealership and get a new ignition key made from the original digital record for that vehicle without having to get a copy made from worn key that doesn't work good. No old key needed at all. Like any problem going on with any vehicle...The longer you wait to take care of any problem, the more problems it will create and the more it will cost to get everything corrected.

    Lockset was completely jammed. I don’t have an air chisel, but was successful using a cordless vibrator. Thank you!

    Thank you for all that you do to show us the right way to do things.. I just watched this video and I know it wasn't the first time I've seen it but that little punch machine is too cool... I did have to rewind for one second at 19:03 because I thought I noticed that you stamped it at a 2 and a half cut and not a full 3 cut... Not that half of a cut would really hang up much in a non warded GM side bar cylinder, and only then if the key was inserted with that side down, but it caught my eye... Thanks for all you do for everyone here.

    Very well done. I have not done any auto cylinders with what I call the half wafer and spring in the middle. When I did my tailgate (GMC 09 Canyon) it used full wafers and spring on the side. My daughter wrote off her car and the replacement is an 08 Toyota Corolla where the truck cylinder needs to be done.

    Jedi Key master Jason, a very good tutorial thanks.
    I'll nod and you hit it lol. Im suprised the customer didnt get a spare key as any other key of theirs is likely to be worn too.

    I like to use a spring loaded punch that I modified the tip just for the GM spring caps. Works great except when I slips and pokes my finger but that does happen a lot. LoL 😂 😂😂

    I watched this video in hope to understand the issue I have. The key in a 2006 Silverado intermittingly binds and doesn't allow it to rotate. I replaced it with budget kit and a different one that was suppose to be better. Both rotate better but do not start the truck. It runs for one second and shuts down. The truck is not equipped with PATS. Reinstall the old lock and key and it starts fine. What am I overlooking?

      you should be able to find a locksmith in your area that can perform this task, make sure not to call a scam company. If it sounds like a answering service that can’t give you a range of prices up front hang up

    This is not really a comment but how do I remove the key cylinder when it doesn't have the Springs in it it gotta put back in without the Springs and now I can't get it out What do you suggest I do

    • @selock
      @selock  Рік тому

      How does it not have the springs in it? With no springs the wafers will not fall into the correct position to allow it to work.
