Jon Nelson discusses the GM Personalized Automobile Security System. This video is sponsored by CARDONE. Brake & Front End: www.brakeandfr... CARDONE: www.cardone.com/
When these days have passed long into history, people will look back and marvel at our stupidity for giving computers so much control over our machines.
Our 2003 Saturn(which is a GM product) has the pass lock system with no special keys. The special resister is in the steering column(opposite the ignition switch). Like I said in a previous comment I replaced it years ago, reprogrammed it with the 3 -10min sessions an had no problems for years. It has started to mess up again and we just wait 10 minutes and the passlock light will go out and it will start. Also, we've notice that if we wait the 3-4 seconds after turning the switch to the on position for the passlock light to go out it seems to always start, no problem. (Maybe the resister needs a few seconds for the value to settle, maybe this has something to do with most people having problems when the weather turns cold).
Thank you for all the info. My trucks ignition switch was jacked up by would be thieves. The dealer replaced the ignition switch and supposedly reprogrammed the keys. It still idles rough and won’t stay running. Could screwing up my ignition w
I have a 2006 cobalt ss with a similar issue. What section should i be looking at for the short to ground issue? Id like to replace the ecm but first id like to fix the ground issue. Its going into engine power reduced p0601
That's a completely different issue man. Try your throttle body positioning sensor I want to say. I've had to deal with that more than once. GMs.electrical is far from top of the line. But replacing that sensor will often fix that shit.
Thanks for your explanation I found it very interesting, but I need to know if you can show a video with touch button keys, because I have a 2012 Cadillac SRX and it didn't work for me. Thank you
Yes the hood can be open. Also, to fix the issue of the security light staying on you must unhook your battery for 30 to 45 minutes or make sure the modules in your car don't retain old memory codes.
I was just going through and checking all my fuses which was a big mistake cuz I must have took the fuse out of the computer or something. Now I got the solid security lock on my 2012 Buick Enclave. I've tried this and the light does not go off after 10 minutes or around 10 minutes
I bought 2002 Tahoe on 2010 was installed with after market security alarm I used that for long time until both fob keys was bad so I decided to removed after market system and I start using original fob keys work okay but my Question is if I unlock the door with the key and open the door horn doesn't go off and the vehicle start normal is that normal ? my understanding is if we don't use fob key to unlock the door vehicle should not start and horn should go off please advice thank you and yes yellow security light working blinking and if i unlock from inside and I open the door horn goes off
I did that it turn on I move it to park it right and turn it off and started todo it again now I tried it with the key on and it’s been 1 hr and the lock have not turn off at all
On my gmc 2006 Yukon Denali I replace my ignition switch when I got the key with it my old key that came with the truck I can open the door but not my new key so I put in the new key and wait for 30 sec on the on position like 5 times and my light comes on then it shows off so I don't know why doesn't do that with my new key on my truck any suggestions and opinions or what should I do I'm trying to save money so I want to take my car to the GMC dealership
Key out of the truck take the positive cable off for three seconds then tap the cable to terminal three times give it five seconds reconnect the positive cable to the battery and go start the truck
@Perception Pressure Cleaning did this, now the security light is off... but the ignition is not programmed to the passlock2 and the truck will still not start
The light was going out for my truck either. After 2 hours of messing with disconnecting the battery and starting over countless times I decided to just turn the key to off and light went out. After turning the key back to on the light was gone so I tried just starting it and it worked. But once again I’ve tried everything I could thank of and it just eventually worked. Late to comment on your question but figured I’d share my experience if anyone new came to the comment section
2004 Pontiac grand prix gt replaced old tumbler with tumbler from salvage yard had new key made key guy can connect to computer but computer won't communicate to program new key and car will turn over but wont start please help asap
Ok my question is I changed the motor out in my 2003 Chevy Silverado everything wired back right go turn the key it will not do anything but the pass lock light is on so is that my problem
You didn't cover the passlock system in my wife's 2003 Saturn ion quad coup. I've replaced the device in the steering column opposite the ignition switch which has some kind of resister in it 3-4 years ago, relearned the resister value and it worked fine until this latest cold snap. It's once again occasionally refusing to start requiring a 10 minute wait. Thanks for posting this video. I don't want anymore GM products. My vehicle is a 2003 Suburban Z71 with 61k miles on it and NO special keys.
If the resistor checks out properly, then you may be having a problem with the past module or the body control module of where the the resistor tells the module that it has the right "key"and then the module sends the information to the ECM to crank and run the engine
I believe that you are wrong about PASSlock. The system is in the lock, not the key. So a copied key of any kind will work as far as I am aware. The system is easy to bypass if you wait long enough, even if you replace a component. But a copied key works instantly. Passlock prevents your knife/screwdriver attack, but most other attacks are just a matter of waiting the 10 to 30 minutes for the relearn, no programming required.
@@TravisJohnstonthenwbmxr4life no...just do the 3 steps and works. ..the turn the key after the car with the lock disappear and do it 3 times Just don't buy the ecm from flagshipone
My design the past lock does not care how the switch is turned The pass lock is only looking for the information from the hall effect switch,, unless we are talking about pass lock 3
After load testing my battery and found it was in spec with no starter activity.. Tried this method and It Started!!! Thank You !!!
This is the best video I EVER SEEN FOR GM besides few others professionals

Yeah these designer are just foolish all that just to start and drive .

THANK GOD!!!! A video that takes its time explaining in detail 🙏🏽

Thank you so much I haven't tried it but you just explain a problem that was hindering my transportation !huge !!
How about making a video for pushbutton start vehicles.
My 99 chevy express has a regular metal key...im very confused of what I have
So what happens if the lock symbol only appears the first run and not the second and third time
Same problem I’m having! Any solutions?

My 2004 Humner only shows me the solid battery light when i put the key in and does not crank ....nothing happens
So what is it whatever comes first 10 min or wait for the light to come out
Can you do this with a cut key?
True story this works ✅💯
I tried this several times,, no luck... Any suggestions?

I'd rather take a chance with my car being stolen then deal with P.A.S.S.
Agree, I've been dealing with this problem for months now

What do you do if the security light does not turn off after the 10 min? This procedure has not worked for my tahoe
That's my question
Can the hood be open when doing this key relearn?
Yes the hood can be open. Also, to fix the issue of the security light staying on you must unhook your battery for 30 to 45 minutes or make sure the modules in your car don't retain old memory codes.

You said you waited 30 seconds? You need to turn the key on and wait 10 minutes until the theft light goes out. Then do it again, two more times.
My security light never turns off after 10 mins....someone help
Try charging the battery
what happens if my security light stays on and doesn't turn off after 10 min on accessory? 98 gmc sierra
we've had a lot of trouble with Pass lock EVO module, You can find them in a junkyard or rebuilt with a lifetime warranty
Key out of the truck take the positive cable off for three seconds then tap the cable to terminal three times give it five seconds reconnect the positive cable to the battery and go start the truck

My security light remains flashing and reprogramming doesn't work
You have to do leave the key in on position for 10mins until the light turns off then go to off position. Repeat 3X. 30 minutes operation

I have that exact problem with monr
i have a 2009 g5 and i put a used ecm and followed the 30 min video to thinking my car would start now its not reconizing my key and wont start at all
I put a transmission in and now it won't start checks grounds got 12 power to ign and inj but no signal it didn't have that problem before
Did you ever figure out what it was? I'm having the exact same problem you were right now lol
I believe it was a ground wire near the bell housing
Won't start or won't crank two different problems,, You can only still crank the engine with a faulty pass lock but the engine will not run
Ok my question is I changed the motor out in my 2003 Chevy Silverado everything wired back right go turn the key it will not do anything but the pass lock light is on so is that my problem
How did you fix it...same problem here
@@sharleekuchynka7286 have you found a fix?
2003 has vats not passlock. Have to have vats turned off with tuning software.
I dont get it if one key is programmed why do i need to relearn the second key? all keys are same cut
Because the computer needs to learn the transponder in the key, which is not the same for each key.
Passlock keys do not have a magnet inside. The magnet is in the lock cylinder. The name gives it away. PassLOCK, instead of passKEY.

Mother efer GM the only one who can’t figure to start the car, is the owner themselves. But a real theft? Won’t be a problem.

Now what??
Ain't that a load the Colorado I think has a prob w8th bcm but full size don't often damage ecm
My 2005 buick century has the security light on when I turn the car on and drive it why would gm do this freaking dumb tf
Mine is running with passlock light on..... this procedure does not work.
great!
No passlock?
