It looks like little consideration was put into where they are because objectively speaking, none of them belong that low and there's *no way* they are worse than the funny cat!

Pichu has insane combos but is the lightest character in the game that has to harm himself to do said combos. And yeah Chrom is insane besides his recovery but that recovery is a major weaknesses. Essentially being dead the moment your knocked off stage is a huge weakness.

Sometimes chars just fall out, doesn't combo reliably into up-smash, it's super random on which side the opponent is knocked out when cancelling the nair, up-tilt doesn't hit small characters as a combo extender and is often too slow... there's a lot of problems, the tail being the least important one. If his offense were more consistent I'd think he would be pretty good

@@silaspq Timing mixups make parrying a lot harder than it looks. If you parry too early you get hit, if you parry too late, Ike is safe. Ike can also mix up with tamahawk grabs and stuff too, and then you still get combod. Ike is by no means good, but low tier is hilariously stupid. The character is like mid tier. He doesnt need a more complicated gameplan, because he already has a powerful RPS setup that he forces you to play. The one tool he DOES have is incredibly powerful, even if it is linear, and he has ENOUGH mix up room so that you dont have a one answer solves all solution. "Just parry" doesnt actually work if you dont know if he's gonna tamahawk you or not, or what timing he's going to nair. That shit only works vs bad Ikes who have one braincell and cant mix up anything. Good ikes who actually know how to mix up timings are way tougher to beat because you have to actually read them to win those situations, because its an actual RPS situation. Of course, the linearity of him is still bad, which is why he's only a mid tier, but he's definitely better than the low tiers.

I think Sheik suffers from Shulk syndrome: a solid character that is overrated because “played perfectly” is the best character in the game… but it never happens.
I think putting characters in tiers based off of results is valid, *IF* a lot of people play that character. But for characters like Wario and Yoshi? Nah. Those characters are not that good. They are being elevated by the players. A (not A-tier) tier should be determined by how many plays the character and how well do they normally do. Not "This character has ONE GUY that gets results with it so let's put it in S/A." Steve is the perfect example because people with normally not great results all of a sudden got Top 8 or even won. I don't count Acola in here because he's obviously good and was a kid when Steve came out and still is a kid so him having had results pre-Steve makes no sense.
This tier list is truly less accurate than 2023's. The entire D+ tier is wrong and all belong higher than they are placed. Thank you Marss for acknowledging that Yink is cracked.
K. Rool main here. No way is he worse than Dedede. Dedede has big damage that's INCREDIBLY slow. K. Rool has a recovery, a counter, 2 projectiles, 2 buries, and super armor on like a third of his moves. I'm not arguing that he's a top tier, but he's not in E tier, and he's DEFINITELY not below Dedede.
I believe the list was mostly made from the averages of where the people who sent in their tier lists had characters. Not tourneys. EDIT: also I believe both the methodology and differences are explained on the site.

Okay, Bowser Jr. is one of the most underrated characters of all time. There is no way people think that Bowser Jr. is worse than characters like Donkey Kong, Wii Fit Trainer, Banjo & Kazooie, Jiggily Puff, and his father.

Would be interesting to see if we can train an AI / Algorithm that analyses frame data, knockback, damage, character weight / height, speed etc. Train it to take into account potential margin for error, cheese potential and the consistency of a character (if moves work or not for example). Mix and match this with some pro player input + tourney results and you would get something super realistic (in theory). I'm not a game designer, but would be super interested in if I can also see from a statistical standpoint on what makes character attributes good / bad.
So I disagree on some things marss but I'm not gonna debate everything with someone who's better then I'll probably ever be at ultimate. That being said the reason pokemon trainer is high tier is cus they're hardly used yes, but if you watched tweeks pt mu chart pt just losses or goes even with a lot of top and high tiers. Notable characters pt losses too are rob, sonic, shulk, diddy, zss, mythra, fox, roy, palu, pikachu, ylink, mario, mii gunner, min-min, pacman, lucas and the samus's. If I'm optimistic I don't think all of those are losing but honestly most probably are. According to tweek pt losses to even more, I'd link his video but youtube would take it down. Good top tier 5-10 characters have few if any losing mu's, which is why pt isn't there; well that and lack of usage in top level.
Im gonna say it and I've believed it for the longest time On the topic of Sonic being too high Kazuya belongs in that spot. Character is LUDICROUSLY broken he just shuts down so many characters and theres always a risk of him just phasing through whatever you do and killing you for it. Character is absolutely wild and hes like ROB where his mus dont matter because you never truly have a lead vs him hes one interaction away from making the game even Absolutely insane character
I know youre iffy with yoshi, but i feel like hes pretty accurately placed. Hes got double jump armor, non poke-able shield, does crazy damage and is the fastest air speed in the whole game! Thats a high up charecter if you ask me!
This tier list is hugely suffering from top player rep syndrome. Sonic is only so high cause of sonix. They have clearly looked at results, not at the characters tools and potential in general. I mean how are people ranking snake above pythra and Rob cmon. (And I guarantee if they made this list after what Zomba did at genesis 10 Rob would've been higher despite the game not having an update in over 2 years).
I mean Sonix definitely helped develop Sonic’s meta, but that doesn’t mean Sonic doesn’t deserve to be that high. Especially with the already decent amount of Sonic players on the rise.
It's really weird when people rank PT and Yink lower just because they're not played as much as they used to be. Also, Yink having a killing fthrow is kinda cool since it incentivizes you to approach them while they're cornered and get punished for using your tether grab, unlike uthrow on him and Samus killing anywhere, or bthrow incentivizing zoning all the time forever.

A lot of these characters have potential but lack representation at the top level. As a pichu player myself pichu is def not a C tier character. The problem is that NaetorU is literally the only notable pichu at the top level. If we had more prominent top level pichus in the US and Japan that would def help his stocks. Same for characters like Marth and Inkling. Corrin is the perfect example of high tier potential with a lack of representation. When shadic, neo, and Leo starting having good results with corrin, he immediately rose from low tier to high tier.

Kazuya belongs in that spot. Character is LUDICROUSLY broken he just shuts down so many characters and theres always a risk of him just phasing through whatever you do and killing you for it. Character is absolutely wild and hes like ROB where his mus dont matter because you never truly have a lead vs him hes one interaction away from making the game even

My boy yoshi in A+ tier
I know youre iffy with yoshi, but i feel like hes pretty accurately placed. Hes got double jump armor, non poke-able shield, does crazy damage and is the fastest air speed in the whole game! Thats a high up charecter if you ask me!
This tier list is hugely suffering from top player rep syndrome. Sonic is only so high cause of sonix. They have clearly looked at results, not at the characters tools and potential in general. I mean how are people ranking snake above pythra and Rob cmon. (And I guarantee if they made this list after what Zomba did at genesis 10 Rob would've been higher despite the game not having an update in over 2 years).
I mean Sonix definitely helped develop Sonic’s meta, but that doesn’t mean Sonic doesn’t deserve to be that high. Especially with the already decent amount of Sonic players on the rise.

It's really weird when people rank PT and Yink lower just because they're not played as much as they used to be.
Also, Yink having a killing fthrow is kinda cool since it incentivizes you to approach them while they're cornered and get punished for using your tether grab, unlike uthrow on him and Samus killing anywhere, or bthrow incentivizing zoning all the time forever.

Honestly I think the biggest jump is rob. Ppl forget that nobody really cared about Rob until zackray really showed what he can do. Afterwards zomba started climbing the ranks. Then everyone played him. But when you wanna talk about the times where palu was considered top 5, that's when nobody knew about Rob.
Why don't more PT players use bullet seed? It's the perfect damage dealer, and it usually fully connects.
The problem with Bullet Seed is that there's no real reward for landing it.
@TheSharkAnt assuming you're on stage, the whole thing should connect (25%) and your opponent is in the air above IVYSAUR of all characters. I think it's pretty useful.

Marth has this strange tipper mechanic where he does more damage the further the enemy is, i’m guessing he’s low because it makes him a lot less consistent? i personally disagree with the tier list on this
I can’t believe that Isabelle is considered to be better than villager. I main her now but I’ve always thought villager had better tools than her. The loyd was a main factor in my opinion.

A lot of these characters have potential but lack representation at the top level. As a pichu player myself pichu is def not a C tier character. The problem is that NaetorU is literally the only notable pichu at the top level. If we had more prominent top level pichus in the US and Japan that would def help his stocks. Same for characters like Marth and Inkling. Corrin is the perfect example of high tier potential with a lack of representation. When shadic, neo, and Leo starting having good results with corrin, he immediately rose from low tier to high tier.
