  • I am making a compact oak bark leather tool bag from a lovely thick hide. It has wet moulded ends, hand sewn seams, and saddlers copper rivets to strengthen key stress points.

Wonderful idea. I can’t wait to make my own. Thank you for the great idea. I love your creative projects, all created with perfection. I really like your work which I’ve been following for a few years. Thanks again for everything ! 🙏 You should be proud of your talent and the truly beautiful results of your job. I feel like you would be a great mentor to me for making such attractive and useful leather products. You leather bag actually reminds me very much of my first doctor bag that I received in medical school. I’d love to make a new brown one myself. My first doctor bag was black leather, but a chestnut brown like your leather is much warmer and more appealing. Have a great day. Enjoy the rest of your summer ! 🙏

Excellent video! I have an old leather shoulder bag that has been collecting dust for years. I don't think I've used it for twenty years. A while ago I realised that it would be perfect as a tool bag. I've treated the leather, that was the first step, and have been mulling over which tools to put in it. It's going to be for carving and sketching, so that helps, but it shouldn't become too heavy. I want to make holders for tools. Leather strips for tool handles and wider leather strips formed with pockets for the ends of tools are probably the main addition I have to make. It has two compartments, the main large one (larger than the one you make in the video) and a smaller one perfect for flat and square things. I don't really have the time to work on it right now, but it's lovely to think about and plan!

@@Shorty12543 that's a Chinese knockoff of a Col. Littleton clinch buckle. It's a patented buckle out of Tennessee but you can find cheap "replicas" that are pretty dang close if not the same buckle online for around $15.
I've got a belt from them that has that buckle, when used on bags the bag has to have some tension for it to hold shut and not pop open randomly.

Nicely done as usual, Harry. Thanks for sharing. Good to know that you are a spoon carver. I am not, but I make a large number of axe and adze sheaths for Jason Lonon here in North Carolina.
