    I always wondered how are those kind of bags made! Thank you, I think you are the first to show this technique.

      i line with a strong material called PI TEX in Romania (texon or many other names elsewhere) and i cover that lining with pig skin, as in the tutorial.

    Im still very much a novice at leather crafting, but i have had the pleasure of making a leather satchel for someone at work. I have leather for my own bag but i just need the time for it. Im not in a rush for it as it gives me time to think about how exactly i want to make it for myself. I really like the way you attached the side pieces and i think i may go with that end. Hopefully ill be bale to get it started and finished this year.
    My only feedback is it would’ve been nice to see you score out the edges of the two side pieces but i think i can see what you did.
    Really enjoyed the video, thanks!

    I love how your many of your design elements are so simple and practical. It looks like you have been able to reduce some steps and still have a complete and serviceable product. I think it looks great and am thinking of making one, too! You have unique solutions to some leatherworking problems that I may well borrow. Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Thank you for your video. Beautiful work. Your method has inspired me to make my own method and makes me feel more liberated to not do everything as everyone else does it.

    Nice tutorial. Always a joy to watch you. I don't build the same projects you do but it's still nice to see you work. Keep up the good work and know I learn a little something every time I watch. Happy Thanksgiving and blessings to you and yours. As ever just Tom 🤠

      it wasn't easy to decide to show my tips, i am a self learner, everything i know iss the result of many experiments, it's a lot of trial and error, but after i decided to share, then i do this as good as i know. I still learn from others and youtube is a very good teacher. Thank you for your words

    Would’ve liked to see the gusset set with French seams or butted, but I like your corner treatment, especially over the bends, thus no need for rivets

    The lining is making the bag so sturdy?

    • @VasileandPavel
      @VasileandPavel  3 роки тому

      yes, it is a lining used in shoes industry, a sort of rigid textile

    Beautiful work! Is that tealight candle you rub on at around 13:19 to get the aged effect?

    Hi there, great video here, I'm wondering if using a box stich would be any stronger to use or would it not make a difference. also what would you suggest as an alternative to pigskin as an alternative lining?

    • @VasileandPavel
      @VasileandPavel  Рік тому +1

      I use pig skin because it is thin and rigid, so it helps me to make a stiff but not heavy bag. But you can use thin and rigid goat, thin and rigid cow leather. You can use suede, you can use something that is thin and rigid and looks good enough.
      Box stitch? This bag is made this way vut if you'll make a design for box stitching, the bag will be as solid as this one.

    Where do you get your white marking pens? I have tried 4 different kinds and can’t get good results!

    If you dont want it so heavy duty, the pattern will work the same without the stiffner? Thanks

    • @VasileandPavel
      @VasileandPavel  3 роки тому

      it won't keep it's shape. I have a bag with the same aspect, without stiffener but lined in another way (this one here ua-cam.com/video/Y2IW6hWOlLc/v-deo.html&t). I have another bag who doesn't need lining, only some 6-7oz rigid leather (here it is ua-cam.com/video/f1PfB9iyPh4/v-deo.html&t ). But this one with stiffenet have it's purpose, i made it to carry heavy tools

    What kind of linking do you use and where can we find it? What weight leather are you using? These details are what's missing from your video.

    Having a really hard time finding the TEXON rigid lining. Are there alternative products you would recommend?

    • @VasileandPavel
      @VasileandPavel  2 роки тому

      I buy something called PI TEX in Romania. Unfortunately every country and every factory names it's materials as it wants, so I can tell you only to buy leather stiffener. I find PI TEX on etsy (www.etsy.com/listing/907142244/pitex-non-woven-leather-stiffener-06081?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=PITEX&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&sca=1)
      For this one, use 650 PI TEX, the thicker one.

      The bag is made from vegetable tanned leather lined with a strong material called PI TEX in Romania (TEXON or many other names elsewhere) and covered with pig skin. The tutorial will show you how :)
