What a gem this channel is! I’ve only recently found your content, but as a keen bushwalker and hiker here in NSW I just can’t begin to express how happy i am to find more Australian made content. Keep the videos coming!!

G'day Erik, great to see ya mate. Yup, cold in them thar hills, but much better than 30 to 40 deg IMO.
Always fantastic seeing the bush come back again, and a few wildflowers thrown in was even better.
Like the mesh gear loft, with pockets, rather than just a simple piece of whatever material.
Of coarse there's gonna be banter between Aussie blokes; especially with a few frothies, be som'thin seriously wrong otherwise. Very pleased to see the dark brews get a run too.
G'day Alex, I do love a porterhouse, but I'm with ya on the T-bone;.......... the steak of champions !!!
Dig the carrots too. Never tried it, but many of our Canuck mates swear by that seasoning.
Hope you heal up ok Erik; could have been worse, bruising's better than breaking.
Anyway, many thanks for making the lockdown more bearable guys. Cheers Duke.

Bloody brilliant Al... I mean Erik! 🤭 Nothing better than camping out bush in a beautiful location, getting a decent fire going, cooking some delicious steaks (great job on the carrots!) and downing some tinnies with a mate, plus you get to talk a lot of shit about nothing and everything! 😂
Good to see the area recovering nicely with all the greenery coming back and that creek looked amazing... and amazingly cold! But I'm glad you only escaped with minor scratches and some bruising and nothing broken!
Great video Erik and really enjoyed the banter... you should get Alex on your vlogs more often, he's hilarious! 🤣 Cheers Mate!

I was worried for awhile that you had given up posting videos of your trecking adventures, fortunately you are back at it. Another really interesting trip may I suggest that you ditch the new shoes perhaps Blundies or similar may be better. Your videos and other similar Ozzie ones make this interminable lock down in Melbourne almost bearable. Thanks Erik!

But seriously though, to take the positives; they are a great watch and personally I'm using this time to refine skills and test gear, more so than I otherwise would have.

Well you've nailed it again Erik very enjoyable video. Mate you should have had your hammock in your swag, no worries about sloping ground or rocks and you already had your hutchie with you. The hammock only takes up the space of a couple tinnies and lighter. Alex seems like a decent bloke and a good mate, he probably wouldn't mind if those left out tinnies were his share :

    • @eyeofthetiger4184
      @eyeofthetiger4184 3 роки тому

G'day Col, pleased to hear from another "knot man". Hope you don't mind me putting a few bobs worth in.
Excellent point on twisted sisal; really dunno why it and the option of splicing and whipping seems to have gone out of fashion, it aint that hard with a little practice, learned it as a sea scout back in the day and though I do still have my 70s RN pattern "Pussers Dirk" with a steel marlinespike, a sharp, (especially fire hardened), stick, will do the business if your fingers struggle.
Quite enjoyable to do round the campfire too if you haven't done it before hand or need extra.
Yep, a few different truck/load tie down knots out there and the sheepshank approach is the most logical I've seen in practice.
I do reckon a directional figure of 8 loop makes all the difference as the "pulley", but granted can be challenging to untie without a marline spike, or fid.
I spose with paracord and bankline all the rage as light weight and relatively strong cordage, (and no need to whip if you have a flame), sisal rope is often considered old hat, a bit like blacksmithing as another example. I don't mind progress, but often you are actually left with an inferior end result.
Anyway, all the best mate, great comment, cheers Duke.

Erik! Yes!, a new video. So glad to see you back on trail, or should I say off the trail :)
1:37 I thought you two were going to break into a rendition of YMCA
7:24 "great to be back again".. it's great to have you back again!
    12:15 Loving the banter :)
20:23 Capital Brewing First Tracks Imperial stout..... 10% wow.. I'll have to give that one a go. I love their Trail Pale Ale
22:30 'T-Bone steak' reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where George waned the nick name of 'T-Bone'... :)
23:13 Alex: "Erik's gone vegan" ..... Erik: "Bacon and a nice porterhouse" ... me: LOL
30:29 "Much much later" lol I guess those imperial stouts kicked in.
37:57 Erik "that was icy"... Alex (T-Bone) : "And heaps funny" .. wish we had that on camera!
52:56 "They don't even expect you to get nude...." It's UA-cam... not 'Only Fans'
Great video Erik, loved the banter... looking forward to your next video with T-Bone.
