Utah has a lot of fine gold and is the #1 money maker in the state. I have a friend who gets gold out of the gutter in Ogden from the road base that comes from a gravel pit at the bottom of a canyon that contains gold. There's a good book by Alan Chenworth called Gold Panning in Utah that goes into further detail. Last year when I camped at the Utah Gold Club claim I had a UFO hover above my campsite at night on three different occasions. I'm going there next week but won't be camping unfortunately.
A UFO really that's crazy some people here in salt lake City claim they have seen UFOs that will travel across the valley every night from one end to the other most the time they look like stars but if u look closely.with binnoculars they have red & green lights and move very slow and will get closer and closer to where ud think ud be able to see it more clearly cuz it's right over the top of u but then the sun starts to rise and they desend slowly back up in the sky and do it again the next night. And they are definitely not satellites drones or airplanes. While you're here in Utah this weekend you should see if you can find what I'm talking about it's crazy! I wonder if they have anything to do with the gold? Lol maybe they like it too?😆😆😆

That area you discuss around 15min is the famous Henry Mountains and the location of the Lost Josephine, Spanish Mine. There is an underground city in the area that is known to the local Piautes. They will not tell you where it is because their ancestors lived and slaved in the mines and were held captive in the city. We found the entrance but it has collapsed. Above the city there are still plenty of active mines. Modern miners just have not found the main vein yet. There is a South African company mining several of the mines on top now.
so up in south weber i helped dig a fire pit in a friends backyard and our hand literally sparkled with fine gold all the house were build on top of it.
The claim that you are looking at southeast of wendover, nv. Is a little old Ghost town called Gold Hill. One person actually lives there and is mining it
Pretty sweet oscilloscope you’ve got in that desk. I just happen to live in Utah and found this video. I’m just an electronic hobbyist but it’s still neat to see the prospecting geology around the state of Utah

The wasatch mountain range that runs vertically through Utah is the steepest mountain range in North America and also has the only mountain range in the US that runs horizontally known as the uinta mountains. Utah is definitely unique.
Our Great Salt Lake has shrank soo much! I also believe where man has changed the way the water drains. It goes to holding ponds throughout the cities. It doesn't go to the GSL. Besides we have been very dry.
I’m looking to move to Utah next year and purchase a claim to sluice and pan by myself. In your opinion, where do you believe I should look into first? Goal is to live on the claim for 6-7 months and just work. Any specific advice would be great
That transverse range is called the Unita Mountains and is the only transverse range in the North American Rocky Range Trees down Utah has in the past suffered from a huge pine beetle infestation cause for trees being down Be very careful wandering around the Salt Flats as they are called because they are part of the Utah Test and Training Range. It will be clearly marked and everything outside the boundary should have been dealt with. FYI At the Utah Nevada town of Wendover there is a WWII airbase where the crews for the atomic bomb raids trained
When you’re addressing the red desert and you’re talking about the permitter what are you exactly talking about are you talking about the edge where the uplift is happening or the perimeter of the entire Area you marked. What do you mean edge vertical edge of that uplift
I have claims at hoyt peak utah and the Josephine mine and your descriptions follow the model geology for gold and a documented history of gold back to the sixteenth century with the Spanish. We have discovered the pgms certified in areas around the josephine at 8.67 percent for rhodium and paladium.
Do you know much about down south like sevier county and that area I have stumbled across mines and use to pan and help my grand father find gold when I was young but since his passing I havent really done anything down there
This is so cool! Thanks for the knowledge, always hear of people finding all these amazing gemstones here but we never find anything like that when we're out in the mountains. Learned alot about the land layout, thank you!
Living in Utah, there are quite a few fault lines and I have long been curious if even ancient fault lines if they make for good or worth prospecting for gold?
I'm more interested in the kimberlitic diatremes at Moses Rock and Mule Ear. Unfortunately they're on the reservation and unable to be mined by anyone but Navajos
I was told some years ago that there was gold out by Wendover on the Utah side and all so have seen spots that where there could of been some valcano remains in different spots in the state of my travels
@relentlessliving5588 Not yet at Wendover, but the volcano remnants there are on from what .I could see it was on farmlands . A few spots look open land
@jimtaylor6930 I live up north in logan but am somewhat familiar with the area. I would love to check it out and maybe get some buckets of dirt. Is the area you refering to right before wendover or before the tree of life? Ima have to get on google maps

One of the largest gold producer in the U.S. is the Kennecott Copper mine. That's why you see a lot of indicators south of the Great Salt Lake.

Eloctronics and software are my alter ego.
Also there are some gold mines above Centerville and Farmington, maybe Bountiful too.
mmm, Bountiful, my birth town, nice little place.
Yoooo quick question! Do you know how to exactly get to them? I live in logan but am slightly familiar with those areas and would love to check out!

I guess the SanGabriels run slightly off of horizontal...

Dry until recent season

Kimberly mtn and the uintas are the best i have found being a utah native and looking for gold those have shown the most color.
I live in utah and would love to get into it. A metal detector ment for gold wouldn't work right?

Is there a possibility to find gold in a old Utah cole mine.
I'm more interested in the kimberlitic diatremes at Moses Rock and Mule Ear. Unfortunately they're on the reservation and unable to be mined by anyone but Navajos
They're also aimed at diamonds and not gold. Not that I wouldn't mind recovering a few.
Is there any gold spots on the North Slope of Uinta mountains to look for. Like between Evanston to Manilla ?
I wish I knew too
Jess, what about…Wyoming? Gold and…diamonds there.
