I grew up with extreme eczema- my skin was so dry, cracked and discolored that it looked like literal alligator scales 😬 Winnie was such an inspiration bc even though I don’t have vitiligo, she showed me that you are so much more than just your skin and what it shows! Love this video and the people that spoke up! ❤
Me too. I had to start immunosuppressants at age 8 it was so severe, painful and causing massive infections. Been on immunosuppressants now for 24 years. I've even had sepsis from my eczema when my body is basically an open wounds that cracked and bled whenever I moved. That's happened a lot. Had lots of steroids like prednisone in my lifetime too. And wet dressings all the time. Using my hands can get very painful and cooking and cleaning becomes impossible. I get very self conscious when I know people are looking at it, but much less than I used to. I'm sorry you've had such a hard time with skin disease too.
I started BAWLING when she touched her. People don't recognize that a touch of assurance can go a long way. This episode just also goes to show that there ARE some decent, moral filled people left in this crazy, mixed up, angry world. My faith in humanity restored! 😊♥️

Haha thank you. It actually happened to me, that a massage therapist didn't want to massage my arms. I can empathize with the fact that he probably felt really uncomfortable though, I don't think there was anything hateful behind it. But yeah, with scars you also get some stares or blunt questions now and then. The thing that bothers me most is that a lot of people will see you as 'a cutter', even when your scars are 15 years old. I don't want to be remembered of something that's in the past and I don't want it to shape how people see me, but it often does I feel. Like when I'm sad, I'm scared people will automatically see me as depressed and when I'm genuinely happy, I'm scared people will see me as borderline or something, thinking I will go from happy to cutting later on. It's a pity this form of self-harm remains visible. So many people harm themselves in different ways, but it's not seen the same way (think: self hate, binge drinking, binge eating, extreme dieting/exercise, addictions, staying in abusive relationships etc).
@@kittendivine1 you're right. I'm scared and I feel ashamed of myself and my arms, so I tend to hide them because of scars. I never liked my arms but with scars that went worse...

ITS SO COOL AND SHE IS GORGEOUS AND HAS THE BEST HEART EVER!!
It's most likely due to her vitiligo. My husband has it and as it spreads as he gets older his hair is changing to bright white in the spots where the vitiligo is.
Yeah, people can be born with white hair or with white strips. Pigment makes up our hair color, so a person with white hair has very little pigment that causes the white hair.

Bruh I know I'm suprised no one commented about that. It's so rude.
Yeah she is part of the problem
Ya, like what is she supposed to do, wear a full body suit everywhere? Imagine telling anyone else not to "showcase" their skin and they're just wearing a normal outfit. Gods- that pissed me off.

5:33 "Showcasing it"? It's literally her skin. If it's on your arms or legs, you could hide it (which you shouldn't!!) But it's on her face. Should she just wear a mask or not go outside because of a skin condition!?
I would so showcase it though, her skin is fucking gorgeous.
Yeah, I felt a little uncomfortable there
Maybe she meant if she had it she would be insecure about it.
she should just keep expressing herself and be who she is and have fun and don't listen to the people who think it's disgusting or weird.
I came looking for this exact comment, that lady was rude and ignorant. Her skin is gorgeous

Oh my god this needs more love
