Julieta Gómez wtf is being black?
"What the hell does that mean? We don't see color, it's 2015"
And yet, here we are 5 years later..
Dam time flew
You cannot ignore color. However, we shouldn’t judge people on the color of their skin.
I believe in the idea of "not seeing colour", but only to an extent. We can clearly see what skin colour they have by looking at them and we should celebrate our differences, but I disagree with black, white, asian etc. They are labels and they are confusing af sometimes, and using labels in society automatically sets the ground for prejudice. In terms of race it leads to racism too, and colourism. You can't ignore that these differences exist, and you can't deny the racism that someone has gone through for their skin colour because you don't see colour. But labelling people as separate is part of the problem, so I try not to use those terms (black, white etc) unless I have to.
We are moving back in time
Sad how we have to care how others dress it’s fabric colors don’t have a race it shouldn’t matter at all since middle school I always heard “you’re black and you dress “white” even though it’s called alternative and that’s it there’s no such thing as dressing “white” or “black” we are all human
I love how the last lady handled it. You can tell she was angry but she was so nice telling the sales woman to apologize and trying to de-escalate the situation, instead of just going off on her. She made her point but in a calm and gentle manner
She is not for the street tho
They "handled it" the way the script told them to handle it. This isn't real, genius. They're all paid actors. Including the "customers" reacting to the comically staged scenario that nobody in real life would ever believe.
@@JakeKoenig Comment still applies whether or not it's fake, genius.
I can’t get over how beautiful she was
some people need to realise that there's a difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation
Saying “she’s trying to be black” is so stereotypical like wtf is a black person “SUPPOSED” to look like??? Black people can dress and look however tf they want

As a light skin man who grew up in an area that's predominantly african american, I can confirm these situations happen all the time. My first time being kicked out of an establishment for my skin color was when I was 6 years old. It was a barbershop and they said "sorry we don't cut white boy hair." It's a sad world we live in.
And they'll say they're not and can't be racist cause they're black. Smh.
That's so fkd up. My brother and sister told me one time they were at a McDonald's playing and a white man with his child told his child to throw balls (like the play pen balls) at "people like them" (we're Mexican) and the child AND DAD were hitting them with the balls. I swear I wish my dad would have seen so they can beat his ass (he's not violent) but In that case an ass whooping would of been deserved rightfully. Sorry that happened to you dude. It really is a fucked up world out here. This happened in the early 90's and it does stay with you because till this day the remember that
Wtf?! Man. I understand that a lot of it was started by white people, but why does everyone else have to do it too then? Everyone just needs to stop bothering each other!
They bully light skinned individuals more than white. That's why this video is irrelevant 😴

What is "black clothing"? Dear god, didnt know clothes have race.
Here in what would you do, you can see how the media performs mind control on the masses by making stereotypes for each ethnic group. Almost all stereotypes and hate are propelled by the CIA run media. It is for divide & conquer formula. The wealthy elite use the media to cause division and hate to easily control the masses.
Black clothing is when the colour of the clothes are black.
That's the only real answer. Clothing cannot have a race.

This is why cultural appropriation confuses the hell out of me. Sometimes it's ok and sometimes it isn't.
it was ok before tiktok happened
If your mocking it or using it for an “aesthetic” or to look “pretty” then its cultural appropriation. When your wearing it respectfully for the culture and know the history behind it then its appreciation:)

@@w4ka997 they can wtf. You can as long as your not mocking it or know background-
Cultural appropriation is when you exploit a culture to benefit yourself and or pass it as your own. Like when black artist used to make music and white labels would steal their music pass it to white singers and the original singers would fade away. So all of a sudden they were "white hits ". In this case the girl just likes to dress herself like that but there are many artists and people with power that exploit cultures by appropriation just to make money or get fame by it.

Yes maam
the tongue thing she did was cute omg
much love to those who stood up for her! There's so many different approaches.
When you scold, the other person gets defensive & nastier; when you remain calm, they become more receptive
I always was confused how to think about this. I’ve noticed some POC are fine with it, others are offended by it. But at the end of the day, isn’t the real goal not to discriminate or call people names just because of what they look like or wear, or their identity? Isn’t berating someone because you “claim” their clothing isn’t for their “color” then very wrong as well? Clothing is fabric. It’s made for anyone who can wear it. No matter the color, gender, sexuality, job, etc. it doesn’t matter. It’s one thing if someone is lightening or tanning their skin, or if they’re doing obvious things that make them seem racially different. But something like a hairstyle or shopping choices? Nothing wrong with that. Now, if she said “I like wearing black clothes” or something like that, THATS different. But if it’s just because she likes the clothes and it’s her style? Don’t bother her. Wear what you like sis! It’s the same thing as saying “you seem nice for a black girl” or something like that. Don’t ever tell someone they look different than they “should” just because of their identity or skin color. It’s so wrong
the thing about this is that these types of hairstyles created by Black people aren't just "hairstyles". Traditionally and culturally the could represent different things like a person's social standing and so on. They have always made up a big part of Black identity and additionally Black people in the USA especially faced and are still facing a lot of discrimination and oppression for wearing their cultural hairstyles - and they used to even be prohibited to wear them and they still often times have to "get rid" of them because they are seen as unprofessional and "ghetto" when wearing them while nonblack people get praised for it and called "cool" and "trendy". So just because to us it might seem that these are just "hairstyles" doesn't mean that it really is that way. There are a lot of great videos on here by Black people that further explain this issue, if you are interested.
At the end of the day there is one thing we need to remember: Never fight racism with racism.
