I also must inform you that the same team was working on a spin-off of this game called "Extreme Force: Grant City Anti-Crime" but that got cancelled, too.
the fact that he just takes the gun during dissarms without it teleporting to his hand in an obvious manner is nuts especially for a ps2 game, most modern games dont even bother
I still remember this game as the *"No No No!!"* moment when I damn near broke my brand new PS2 turning it off when my dad walked in to the living room during the stripper minigame
I still love this game, the prison levels always drag a bit to me but i always go back to it. Playing it on xbox series x in 4k 60fps was worth a replay. the sequel and psp game were a let down but retribution was pretty good
I remember playing this a few years ago on the PC, it was HARD. I had to quit for awhile because I was stuck at one point and couldn’t proceed at all. I didn’t want to use cheats so I ended up returning and had to think it through and was able to finish the game. One of the most hardest games I’ve played. The entire series deserves much more recognition, this was one of the main games that introduced the diving / bullet-time mechanic
Might wanna check out true crimes streets of LA. Pretty much the wanna be up grade of this. If max Payne is GTA and dead to rights is saints row TCSLA was saints row 2. Fun action packed lots of unlocks and u can choose whether your a good cop or bad cop and affects your ending (back when this was new and innovative)

But I will say, for the time, this 3rd person adventure was sort of still experimental and Dead to Rights stood out. GTA3 had ONLY come out EIGHT short months before this came out. People often forget that little boom in 3rd person action games of that era. This. GTA3, Max Payne, True Crime Streets of LA, the original Saints Row. A REALLY good one was Total Overdose- VERY underrated GTA3 clone- but VERY good- it was basically GTA in Mexico with cartels instead of mobs.
This is the first video game I’ve ever played and I played it with my dad , it might not hold up but I loved it , so much in fact I played it on the game boy advanced and the Xbox lol and then also the sequel
When he said 21 years. Wow I'm 31 and I remember playing this as a kid with my brothers. I beat the shit out of this game. I think in my personal opinion. I could go back and play it and enjoy it as much as I did as a kid. It was so fun man. I wish I could go back 5:18
I remember this game being beyond hard when I was little lol anytime I tried playing I got to the prison part and couldn’t ever get past it. Played it a couple years ago and couldn’t finish it cuz the controls are just horrible lol
One of my favorite action game series ever, really wish that they were able to develop their free roam sequel that they wanted but Retribution didnt sell well enough to justify it
My god, I remember almost at the end of the mission/chapter 3 the prison where the part where you’re in the tunnel mine trying to escape & trying to find ur way out with the tunnel mine map on the upper right corner side of the game screen, the tunnel mine mission on the chapter 3 where you’re trying to find a way out. Man that part of chapter 3 was so fuckin hard to get past back then when I’ve played this game. But the part that was hard on chapter 3 (prison tunnel mine part) like when u get very far on the tunnel mine part of the level u get to the part where u lose the dotting line on the map and then that’s when u get lost in the tunnel to the way that guide u out of the tunnel and in the escape room where u have to shoot all of the Enemies and proceed to climb up the ladder. Like just losing track on the dotting line on the blue map on that tunnel prison mine part it was so freaking hard! For a few reasons! 1. You’ll have no idea where you’re going to find the way out 2. that’s when I have to try & figure out which way I’m guiding myself out of the tunnel to stay in track with the dotting line so that way it will seem like I’m going the right way & the right direction tho 3. That’s when I’ll know where I’m going in the tunnel so it can be that I’m going the right way so I can find the way out of the tunnel. Or, that I can find an exit door that it will lead me to a lot & sworn of enemies straight to the exit! But yeah the last part on chapter 3 the tunnel mine part of the mission/lvl. Man oh man, it got hard at first cuz it was struggling for me to find my way out of the tunnel cave thing to find the way out & the exit to complete the lvl. But then, later on! It gotten way easier for me! Like I say man this game gets easier at the start of the game. But, as u proceed lord and lots of times through all the mission & easier mission. That’s when the game seem to get difficult & harder & hard as fuck! To where you’ll constantly die a lot & fail on some certain chapter/ mission! So the ending of chapter 3 imo with the tunnel mine that 1. That 1 was the hardest of all parts of chapter 3 that it was hard 4 me 2 get pass! But then, it got easier as I got used 2 it later on in the game.
i have great memories of the dog Shadow more than the main character or the actual game title 😂 if not for this video I would of never knew again.. the dog mechanic is just not that common in video games

This game and "the suffering" were some of my favorite games in that time period. Would be cool to get a sequel or a proper "deadspace/mafia 1" style remake. If you want to successfully do a remake. Mafia 1 and especially Deadspace since they added the new "peel" mechanic. Side missions. Dialoge. More fleshed out side characters and more I'm sure. Any company that remakes a game needs to have those 2 games as their standard. I really want another D2R and The Suffering. That game was truly scary at the time
The throwing away of his gun I just chocked up to it not being traced back to him via ballistics but honestly still doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering he doesn't exactly try to hide what he intends on doing.
That John woo game Stranglehold is really good. It does hinge on the slo mo mechanic but it's more an evolution of max Payne than a clone. There's a really fun environment based movement system to master and the slo mo has different powers it's used for. I really miss it, not playable on anything current I know of.
@@MrHammers Thanks, I didn't know it got a pc port. I can usually run things from that era, I'll try it. I'd usually ignore the story and just pretend it's a Punisher game. It's one of those games I'd revisit for the fun mechanics alone.
Played this game in my dads house in Puerto Rico in like 2005 when I was 5 I loved it miss those times fr I sometimes hate getting nostalgia because my dad ended up getting killed in pr 2 years later and I never got to see his funeral I don’t even know where he’s buried or if he even is sorry for getting emotional lol but fr this game is amazing idc what anyone says.
I always loved Max Payne it came out in my birth year it's one of the second games I've played and Mortal Kombat 4 was the first I'm so glad Rockstar made a deal with remedy so they can remake Max Payne 1 and 2 and as a kid I had dead to rights on GameCube but my half-brother stole it and traded in for Def Jam fight for New York needless to say I never got to play it anyway it's good to see you play it Mr.hammers ✌😂✌
I bought dead to rights for 5 bucks at a thrift store and I went to play it but when I started I just couldn’t have fun it was so boring to me and I never played it again. I see why people like it it’s just not for me. But I just want to make it clear I love old games and I always buy old games even if I know I can’t play them I even got the orange box for Xbox.
I love all three of these games. It would have been nice to see a Dead To Rights 4 on the PS4...I still own all three games as well as a PS2 and PS3...
"Dead Of Rights" back then before we had high quality HD gaming was considered a good game. This game had "GTA 3" background environment city graphics. Then add "Stranglehold 's" Shoot & table top slide elements, "Streets Of Rage" combat fights & "Max Payne" vibes......I think the nostalgia is what keeps this game today interesting....if this game would came out today....it's probably wouldn't fly with next Gen gamers. To them this is considered primitive. But us OG gamers, it was a okay game..... 🎮🕹️🤔🕹️🎮🤔🕹️🎮

Again, great DTR Game imo! Luv it. 👌😎
This was a solid all around game for that era of gaming 😅 and honestly had replay value for back in those days
the character design reminds me of the protaganist from true crimes
I remember having tons of fun with this game when it came out originally it’s hilarious
That game was truly scary at the time
I loved this series even consider DtR2 a guilty pleasure. With DtR: Retribution being my most favorite in the series.
Excellent overview. Now Dead to rights II however is more of a prequel but good luck reviewing that one
Now that one was bad. The whole series is hit or miss, but that one was genuinely terrible.
The throwing away of his gun I just chocked up to it not being traced back to him via ballistics but honestly still doesn't make a whole lot of sense considering he doesn't exactly try to hide what he intends on doing.
Can't say that it holds up. I can say that the dog was one of the best dogs in gaming. That is true to this day.
Prison part was the best
Played it use to have it.
Never played the later ones except
The one where you could play his
Dog.
That John woo game Stranglehold is really good. It does hinge on the slo mo mechanic but it's more an evolution of max Payne than a clone. There's a really fun environment based movement system to master and the slo mo has different powers it's used for. I really miss it, not playable on anything current I know of.
You can get it in PC from GOG
@@MrHammers Thanks, I didn't know it got a pc port. I can usually run things from that era, I'll try it. I'd usually ignore the story and just pretend it's a Punisher game. It's one of those games I'd revisit for the fun mechanics alone.
I have forgotten this game. But yes I definedly liked it back in the days! Wow :D
Ive been looking for this game name for years!!! I was real young like maybe 7 when my motber rented this game for us and forgot the game. Memories...
Great videos, bro!!!
I just played syphon filter from ps1 and it was amazing you should make a video on it
I loved Dead To Rights. I mean I was a kid when I played it but like it was awesome and one of my fave ps2 titles
Waiting for the Evil Dead vídeo!
Loved playing this game when I was a kid .
Ah youtube thanks for no notification and not even showing this in my subscription feed
I completed this game sooooo many times. Use to be my favorite on ps2
I bought dead to rights for 5 bucks at a thrift store and I went to play it but when I started I just couldn’t have fun it was so boring to me and I never played it again. I see why people like it it’s just not for me. But I just want to make it clear I love old games and I always buy old games even if I know I can’t play them I even got the orange box for Xbox.
why buy stuff you know you can't play?
Man as a kid I beat this game 100 times lmao as an adult I can’t see why I did … now max Payne I can play that right now
I love all three of these games. It would have been nice to see a Dead To Rights 4 on the PS4...I still own all three games as well as a PS2 and PS3...
Good video man, you should do XIII that would be a cool story
"Dead Of Rights" back then before we had high quality HD gaming was considered a good game. This game had "GTA 3" background environment city graphics. Then add "Stranglehold 's" Shoot & table top slide elements, "Streets Of Rage" combat fights & "Max Payne" vibes......I think the nostalgia is what keeps this game today interesting....if this game would came out today....it's probably wouldn't fly with next Gen gamers. To them this is considered primitive. But us OG gamers, it was a okay game.....

Dude, I also adored this game and I wish there was a better sequel worthy of Dead To Rights!!
This remembers me a lot of State of Emergency
Definitely was 🔥 back in the day. Use to play this for hours. This when PlayStation actually was coming out with fun games
the prison level where you gotta fight was so cool
I remember playing this years ago. I remember it being good. I never played the sequel.
Distracts them with her fantastic dance moves😂😂😂😂😂 13:58
