  • Heather Mac Donald and Glenn Loury are fearless and independent thinkers on topics from police brutality to academic freedom. In this dialogue, these renowned non-conformists will interview each other on issues relating to policing and public safety. Mac Donald and Loury have been vocal-and frequently against the current-on anti-police protests, defunding efforts, and claims of systemic racism. These scholars will discuss where they agree and where they differ in their understanding of this critical and divisive moment in America. Mac Donald and Loury will also reflect on how we move toward greater trust, safety, effectiveness, and justice in policing and community safety.

About minute 50: Glenn said that there is something to the argument that presenting critics with your accomplishments is a good argument, Johann Goethe said:

Glen/Heather - Love, love, love you both. Been an admirer of Heather for a number of years, noticing her penchant for Truth and evidence and, her willingness to speak it out under duress of opposing the mainstream narrative, a heroine for sure.
Hate to oversimplify but must as a foundation. BLM co-founder is seen on film in video conversation with a colleague saying of the group ideology, "we are trained Marxists."
They are less interested in black lives as a genuine cause than they are in using them as a victim group to leverage guilt and blame and get contributions from white lead corporations, enrich themselves, and contribute to Democrat parties as the Dems are allies, and turn the country down the road to Socialism through outright revolution if needed, and to absolute destruction as we all are concerned about with good reason.
Their great leap forward came with the Obama Admin, whom I believe has strong Marxist tendencies and worse, is an Islamophile to boot. Another group that the Democrat Party has allied with if you haven't noticed and the press has also turned a blind eye to the atrocities happening in Europe and around the globe by adherents to the Sharia', is Islam in our midst.
Add in G Soros to the group and you have the orchestrating of chaos as we have all seen.
To conclude this brief critique I'll sadly say the Democrat Party has become the enemy within and has powerful and dangerous allies in Islam, the Press, Hollywood, Academia and the cohorts of graduates over the last 30+ years, marinated, as Ms Heather exclaimed in a poisonous ideology.
The job to hold onto freedom and our Constitution is going to be a terrible struggle. We have Truth on our side and hopefully God ( for us who believe there is a God). Either way, we all have to try and be involved in some small way to spread the Truth of the Goodness of America and the West, admitting flaws, but pressing the overall benefits to all mankind.
I'm a 70 carpenter and hope I live to se the success of the redirecting of the West to its founding values.

American culture as simply a history of racism is itself an ethnocentric perspective of Black Americans. Most Americans have been non-Black throughout history; in fact many geographic areas of the US have had little or no black presence, neither economic, cultural nor physical. 13 percent of the population does not define the culture as a whole. This should be obvious to everyone.....

That said, the values of the American society are supposed to be Enlightenment values, based in reason, science and the sanctity of the individual (equality in opportunity and in the law). The upper class do not want meritocracy for themselves, only for the lower classes. It would be nice if a level playing field were possible but it isn't. On CBS This Morning today,Gayle King said that Magic Johnson said due to George Floyd and Jacob Blake events he feels a little fear whenever he sees a police officer. I assume that is real, but he would be more likely to be killed by lightning. What to do?

    • @amorfati4927
      @amorfati4927 3 роки тому +1

That is the tough conversation. The feeling that some people are feeling ARE real. However, how much of it is unfounded in reality and are irrelevant in comparison to other things? Like example lightning (like you said), if I remember right is maybe 3 times more likely by the stats to kill someone than the cops. What measures should be taken to stop something is much more deadly by the stats then the police? Who is to decide what is or should be more important when it comes to saving life than the others? Like Heather rambled off just a few black children that died to violence. Those numbers will magnitudes higher outnumber blacks killed by cops. Who is the arbiter of that not being more important or more needing to be prevented than cops killing black people (which again, most are not innocent in the least bit not that it justifies)? Just alone by that 1 minute of a Heather shouldn’t Magic have more fear of his children dying than himself by cops?
This applies to to all current topics like COVID as well. In 2017, 647,457 people in America died of heart disease. Yet there is no daily counter on something that will far exceed COVID deaths. Unless someone has heart disease, no one is worried about heart disease. Definitely nowhere in the realm of fear of COVID. Who is to decide what should have a ticker every time someone dies of something yet not the other?
A million questions can be asked. The easy answer is fear created by certain people. People have a right to fear. Fear is usually justified. However, what amount of fear in any certain situation is a measured amount of fear compared to the subject at hand. Most of the time the fear far outweighs the subject or situation at hand. The things that should truly be feared people tend to have no fear of at all.

The mistake of Heather is to assume that the gap can be closed by dint of sheer hard work. The underlying problem is due to cognitive differences, in particular, differences in executive function and impulse control. The difficulty is society has up until now not found a way to alter these outcomes in people en masse. This has resulted in the left hiding behind structural racism and the right saying you just need to try harder.
The poor outcomes for blacks is caused by their poor metabolic and immune health especially during preconception. Addressing this would result in significant cognitive gains leading to improved executive function and impulse control which are essential for academic attainment and deferring pleasure and marital relationships.
For blacks to succeed they will need leaders within the community to be exemplars of good metabolic and immune health and to declare its importance as well as providing guidance on how it can be achieved.

A Hispanic teacher who taught the problem middle school kids told me how they didn't want to learn, because they were taught to reject anything created by the "white man". The numbers of graduating black kids are dreadful and as mentioned many times from many sources, blacks are given rated grades so that they can make entrance. This causes graduate numbers to be horrendous, because kids who would not have been able to get in, now get in and they simply do not have the knowledge or skills. Also, on the equity platform. This is very dangerous. For example, to be a fireman, the physical requirements had to be lowered because most women simply could not pass them. What happens then, is now men would not have been able to pass, can now pass. I have no doubt that there have been injuries and deaths because people who simply are not effective in the job failed. All of these agendas are sacrificing the lives and livelihoods of a great many people, simply for the sake of being "socially correct". Tragic.
