Prince featuring MonoNeon
Ruff Enuff by Mono Neon was released as a download and the Tidal Purple Pick of the Week on 11 January, four and a half days after its recording. The instrumental track features Prince as producer and on keyboards. The following day, the track was replaced with a vocal version of the track, with lead vocals on vocoder by Adrian Crutchfield. No writing credits are given, and it is thought to have been largely-improvised by the musicians who took part in the recording.
Basic tracking took place in October 2015, most likely with lyrics as Prince sang the song during a couple of shows at Paisley Park. Ruff Enuff was re-recorded on 6 January 2016 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen,

@@xebio6 Really, who told you that Google or was it Wikipedia? If you'd said James Brown, Grand Funk Railroad, or Tower of Power, cool I can get with that. But Steely Dan...? Nah, Prince maybe listening to & was digging on some Steely Dan joints. Even still, I've never heard Prince or any other reliable source in the know, bring up jamming Steely Dan tunes. As teenagers the band Grand Central was Prince,Andre, Linda,William,Terry, Chazz, & Morris, throughout the band's existence. Not a peep out of any of their mouths ever spoke of playing Steely Dan covers, hey I'm all ears though, please? Funk it Up, Peace Out! "The Only Truth Is The Music"
Mononeon was asked what band would he like to play in. He said Steely Dan. I imagine prince liked them too.
@@216NumbskullIt wasn't just about covers,Prince listened to lots of music and learnt parts from many of tracks. For example, he listened to Chicago and would play guitar solos from them.

My reply was specifically in relation to the comment stating Prince use to play Steely Dan "covers" as a teen, that's all. I agree with everything you're trying to counter me on, so I don't get your point? MonoNeon has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, nor did I ever mention his name. If MonoNeon was inspired or played Steely Dan tunes IDK or really GAS, maybe he did, right on. And don't get it twisted I dig Steely Dan myself but that's not what we're talking about here. Unless I'm missing something which is possible I'll gladly apologize. Yet I've never heard the band Steely Dan ever come out of Prince's mouth or anyone else in his circle. However, seeing as though you didn't quite understand me the first time I'll say it again. "I'm sure Prince heard some Steely Dan tunes & probably even vibed on some of their music. But, I highly doubt they were jammin' Steely Dan covers as teenagers before, during or after the band they had as kid's called Grand Central." Prince, Andre, Terry, Linda, William, Morris & Chazz who Morris replaced were all about James Brown, Sly & Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Parliament Funk, Commedores, EW&F, The Isley Brothers, Santana, Tower of Power, Rolling Stones, Beatles, etc... Joni Mitchell also had a pretty big influence on Prince yet not Steely Dan, but I'm all ears on "PRINCE?" ✌️😉

@@BarbieChaite I just learned about MonoNeon today , and I'm certain Prince recognized his special talent instantly. I'm guessing this collaboration was recorded the same year Prince passed. Based on this song , they were getting ready to set it off !!!
