Mini max chatterbait is awesome. Paddletail swimbait is a good trailer, but for a small chatterbait like the mini max, there is no need to have a 4-5 inch, 3 inch is good enough.

@@yengvang8737 thanks for the tips, I appreciate it. I think I like fishing a straight tail on them haha, but I still need to downsize. Tight lines!

Chatterbait is my all time confidence bait. Been catching great fish with a red one and red craw trailer. I only use jackhammers now since I throw them so much but man does it hurt losing one in a tree or to the deep.

Maaaan, I need more experience throwing bigger chatters, but I haven’t pulled trigger on a jackhammer yet lol. I found a random thunder cricket so I’ve been using that, with a custom skirt I put together and tied on 😂. I also have a red Googan one from a Christmas gift from back in the day. Maybe I’ll tie a red craw on it as well 🤔. Tight lines!

The gar strike was awesome! I had a few strike the other day but didn’t hook up at all.

Dude that last one I didn’t realize it did that until I watched it again lol. I was like whoa, totally just watched him come out and smack that lure haha.

@@thatfishingnoob it doesn’t happen often but they will hit a lure occasionally! They are super hard to hook up with though.

I’m still messing with different lines. What I’ve gathered is…. I’ll use InvisX for moving baits and FC Sniper for bottom contact. I’ve yet to get some sniper yet though but plan on it eventually. Maybe with the next ALF coupon (hopefully 25 without a purchase lol)

I think they get better action with straight tail. Z man Razor ShadZ work awesome. Sorry I fell behind on your videos. My old truck had transmission trouble and was breaking me in diesel. So I sold it and now I have a 2015 Subaru Outback. Hope to extend my range a bit.

Snaps... That was a nice truck, but Outbacks are also nice! I had two BRZ's before I had kids haha... Fun little cars.
Good tip on the straight tail. It's definitely a fun little lure to throw out.

Fun video! I've got a couple of chatter baits but haven't really thrown them. I know I should because obviously they catch fish, I'm just worried I'll spend too much time getting hung up.

Thanks! That’s exactly why I didn’t splurge on Jackhammers lol… I’ve already lost one of them 😂. I’m not ready to donate 15-17$ to my friendly neighborhood snag haha. I’ll get a Jackhammer one day. Tight lines!

They work really well for me there there is grass. I’ll cast into some pretty thick stuff and just reel it through. For this reason I use braid. When it hangs up I give it a hard pop and it triggers a lot of bites when it pulls out of the grass.

I’m trying to decide which reel to throw braid on now haha. I’m thinking my big swimbait rod with a fluoro leader but idk. I’ve also seen a lot run braid on their drop shots, and I just recently converted a rod to a drop shot rod. 🤔

@@thatfishingnoob I really haven’t been able to get the drop shot down but the wife got me a garmin striker for Father’s Day which I think will help with that as I’ll be able to mark ledges and I think the drop shot will work well with that!

@@southwestindianaoutdooradv4714 you’re gonna love that striker! It’s a great tool to have. Expect a learning curve though lol. My mind was blown recently over something simple that I need to implement more consistently. Whew.

I think the paddle tails take away the action from the chatterbait itself

    • @thatfishingnoob
      @thatfishingnoob  2 місяці тому +1

That's a good point - maybe that's why I got that short strike too and then more consistent fish with the tail gone haha. I wonder if trimming the paddle tail would make any difference as well.
