My number 1 complaint is the steering wheel. My car didnt have the optional sportdesign steering wheel, so it doesn’t have the paddles. In Porsche’s infinite wisdom, shifting into neutral cannot be done with the buttons, but can be done with paddles. This wouldn’t be a problem, but the PDK in the 981 creeps forward. This isn’t a torque converter, it will wear out the clutch. Shifting into neutral when stopped is crucial and is awkward to manage without paddles.
If you’re lowering the car, consider adding some spacers too, to push the wheels out a touch. Make sure to get the suspension geometry checked/reset afterwards. Your angles will be all out! Loving the silver/burgundy combo!
"If you drive hard your palm might hit the paddle shift".. My elbow also accidently hits my gear knob on my cheap peugeot when I drive it hard. I feel u.
Ride hight is just fine, why meddle with what the engineers at porsche designed. It’s a beautiful looking car which which i’m sure you appreciate but don’t ruin the authenticity Updating the steering wheel as mentioned would be a sensible, the rest is more you over worrying, relax and enjoy 👍 Oh but do get on with cleaning the leather, it should be a matt finish, the sheen is grease and oils from use. A good leather cleaner or dilute apc will bring that back to factory
Sports Steering wheels 100%. The rest mmmm,,, far too fussy,,, just enjoy. I have same 20 inch wheels. My PASM gives me 10mm lower but looks like yours tbh. Standard is 18 inch.
You have a S version right ? (2 pipes); only agree with steering wheel; i have the same and sometimes i think to replace that into a sport wheel (Porsche tequipiment program)
Those rocker buttons are absolutely horrendous, it’s not impossible as you can get used to it but when I was looking for a 981, those buttons were number one Passover, the single oval exhaust came second, 18 inches wheels are too small for the wheel arches and not having heated seats. The brake callipers are big when compared to my previous 987.2 Cayman base that came with smaller brakes to the S variants.
As long as the brakes do the job, they are good......unnecessarily bigger brakes equals more weight so would be detrimental. I think I would maybe want to compare the EPS vs past gen Boxster hydraulic steering and see which is better....if the EPS has less road feel, that would be my gripe (would be the same for many brands!).
@@Mikemasar i wouldnt say money on a base model is a waste, there are many dimensions to the driving experience that all porsche cars offer, we need to learn to appreciate them all
I owned the original Boxster back in 1998. Great driving car but back then I suggested that the back wndow should be real glass (not plastic), the soft top should be red for red interior, and the side air intakes should be bigger and lower like a jet fighter. People scoffed at me. Look at it now!
Pathetic complaints prove how good the 981 Boxster really is!👍

These are foolish complaints, and baseless. These are what we call first world problems.
I don't think you understand. When someone is nitpicking, that is a great sign that the overall car is doing well.

Loving the silver/burgundy combo!
1# gets to many girls
2# can’t stop having fun
3# it’s so good on backroads that I keep exceeding the speed limit 🤷🏽♂️
I agree that porsche is not looking good without pasm. The best solution you have is to sell it to me.
Happy to take it off your hands given so many issues you are having with it. Please let me know if interested. Thanks
To fill out the wheel wells you could get 20” rims and tires. I did on my 981 Base, it looks very aggressive and menacing now 🏎
Dude you are tripping, this car is phenomenal.

That’s a great looking ride. The silver and Bordeaux red is awesome combo. Such a fun car to drive. Enjoy!!

You did not mention how hard it is to get the engine hatch open.

I would 2 of your issues are valid, the paddle shifters are a poor design and ride height is too high.

Are you actually serious here… wow
Why would you buy a car with pdk amd no pasm if you don’t like it ? Can’t finish watching
I explain it in the video I live in Canada not many on the market here. I like the car never said I didn’t. Anyways enjoy being a goof
Boring ass video, give up
Are you an engineer?😂
Blimey. What about the totally rubbish PCM?
Problem solved. Sell it to me.
#6 Steering wheel on the wrong side.
Picky or what!
Get rid of that crap steering wheel and replace it with a sport wheel. It's not an expensive upgrade.
I got rid of the whole car yesterday why waste money on a base I’ll just get a properly speced s or gts
@@Mikemasar Well that's an option I guess...lol
