Hi Blake ... coincidence: I just changed out my plugs last night (2000 Continental w/ 161K) with NGK 3403s. Same exact challenges you faced with respect to the back four, and guess what ... I think I pulled out original plugs too (Motorcraft AWSF 32E)! Major disappointment for me was to discover only half of the plug tubes were dry ... four were pretty oily indicating I need to replace the leaking 'O' seals. But it drives better already and will improve my MPG. BTW, beautiful car ... mine's black and the next project is converting the failure-prone back air bags to conventional coils. Best wishes.
Actually I thought the Lincoln Continental was one of the easiest vehicles I replaced plugs on. Remove the back bar it'll make it easier for you to reach the plugs. I would also suggest standing at the side of the engine and not the front.

Picked up a 2000 Continental for $3000 with 90 K back in 2016. What a sweet driving car and very reliable so far.

I think you're supposed to torque them with a torque wrench to a certain specifications
Maybe you should have removed the strut bar. It's 4 bolts. I think it would have helped. You had to keep reaching around it.
It doesn't matter that the thread on the new plugs is longer then the original spark plugs?
Can you make a video about changing valve cover gaskets?
On the white Taurus you had, was it simple like this to change the spark plugs? Looks pretty straight forward here.

Do you have to add some kind of sealant to the cap when you put it back on?
