It's fucking ridiculuos to see people that say ''He's playing like amateur! Oh pentatonic! Oh very basic things!''. I'm sorry but if these are what you comment, then you may have no idea of what the music is. It's the feeling he got. It's the emotion that we love about John. He's not that kind of guitarist playing a hundred notes in 20 second. Everynote he plays count and got its own emotion. He has many solo albums and the records that he made with RHCP, I mean there are a lot of stuff he produced, so I think it's a good idea to check them out before making a negative comment about his playing. You may find lots of things about his ''revolutionary'' inventions that contributed to music and guitar playing. This video is not the summary of his 26 years carreer. Though, it's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, for me and some other, ok people? He's not mere guitarist, he's an artist that has made and still making piece of art. It's your right to not find him a good musician or guitarist, but just don't be a troll.
abels121 there really aren't that many, because he is pretty derivative of the Hendrix school of guitar playing. But he has amazing feel, which is why he has so many fans
John has this awesome sloppy, raw, unrefined style that i just love! people criticize him so harshly sometimes but i think anyone who loves music for what it is can appreciate the emotion he conveys when playing
It's because his sound is playing the guitar, if he wanted to he could probably be the mostvtechnically accurate guitarist out there..that's why he's so fucking amazing, he lived ad a dead person for years and came back and wrote one of the bestvalbums ever created
frusciante circa 2006/2007 is the culmination of the awesome he has been cultivating for soooo many years. takes hendrix and then ups the ante then keeps trucking with sick funk and electric/sonic mastery
Some of these comments disgust me. All of these wannabe guitar experts and snobs are crawling out of their basements to judge the guy because he doesn't do some convoluted and unnecessary fast-picking or doesn't deviate too much from the scale. How about you just enjoy the music because it sounds good? That's all that should really matter. But no, he's not shredding some show-offy solo like Jimmy Page or Eddie Van Halen so it "must be bad". I'd hate to listen to music with you people. It's about "what" you play, not "how" you play.
Lol at people that think Page is more technically skilled than Frusciante. Frusciante could blow him away if they just shredded. That being said, Jimmy Page is also amazing.
in many ways, this was such a perfect band. 4 very different yet beautiful voices. i'm really sad and frustrated that john quit the band, and hope he finds his way back again soon!
Chad Smith and John Frusciante is like PB & J man, you just can't go wrong. If you dig these riffs check out the outro for "Purple Stain" live at slane castle. Chad's performance is awe inspiring, to say the least.
There isn't another guitarist who makes my soul weep like Johnny Boy...the guy plays like someone who almost died from heroin addiction, so much feeling and pain in his solos...genius.
i think John is one of the legend in the world of guitar, he has unique character and his only own style which i've never seen a single guitarist like the way he is..lol...the way he plays guitar is like ZOMBIE walking with the guitar and makes the sound so good...love it!!!!!!!!!!
Love John'd music, from his drug-addled Smile From The Streets You Hold, to the Peppers work, to The Will To Death and all in between - seen him live twice with the Peppers too. One thing I can never work out though - how the f*** does he move like he does whilst keeping his awesome sound?
So so good. Whats amazing to me is a band this full of talent(Frusciante and Flea are legit virtuosos) doesn't mind writing pop songs. But then out came Californication and By The Way, IMO probably the best 2 pop albums of the past 20 years. They didn't go for all the crazy technical stuff, they just used their skills to write great, relatively simple songs. Amazing backing vocals by Frusciante(his solo work is great as well) and some of the sickest hooks ever.
I think he is using one of those fuzz distortion pedals that Hendrix used, so that in combination with the whammy bar makes that awesome screech! And he's bending the strings a lot too.
@JeremyMoar I totally agree. That intro for californication in really just wow, I love it. John is really great and I think he can play really good and clean solos too. And his feeling for chords and rhytm is really amazing. Try to listen to The past recedes. It is my absolutely favourite of his solo songs :)
I love the beginning, the interaction between bass and guitar at 0:23 - 0:37 is just amazing. In fact I rather this beginning riff than the whole solo, but base could be a bit louder though.
There's a website that shows all the pedals John Frusciante has used over the years... this tour, the Stadium Arcadium tour, he had a huuuuge pedalboard. x.x
@HolyGK That I have and they both sound like any other blues guitarist around. There's something about Frusciante that's unique, the way he combines elements of metal, classic rock, jazz, funk and country together while maintaining an overall blues style.
@alonsosantiag0 look at tabs for the first chord in purple haze. Thats the only chord he plays. Hits low E twice then hits the chord very rhythmic. The rest is solo improv in E pentatonic. And to all the haters theres nothing wrong with sticking to a pentatonic scale. All that matters is FEEL ironically the most important but overlooked part of playing guitar... or music in general
anybody here think they were listening to jimi??? insane how amazing John is. it makes me sad everytime I see videos like this cuz he's gone... please cone back John!!!!
@JeremyMoar once again, I agree :) the Curtains album is great. Every song in that album is great and there are very few albums for which I can say that. I like The Empyrean though I haven't listened it completely through yet. I really want to have the original cd's from John, but I expect it is really hard to find artists like that in our stores (I'm from Slovenia). When I go back to university this autumn I'll defenitely check some music stores for his CDs :D
"Comparing guitarists is a stupid thing." - Frank Zappa (John Frusciante's idol)
Everytime i watch John, i really want to play, so i pick up my guitar, start playing, get slapped by reality, and than start watching this again.

word.
Yiğit Altun Amen.
And the SOUND. Amazing.
they her 3 sec of things they can do and think its easy
abels121 there really aren't that many, because he is pretty derivative of the Hendrix school of guitar playing. But he has amazing feel, which is why he has so many fans
I wish they would record stuff like this on their albums!
That riff literally SCREAMS Hendrix!
Exactly, search Midnight by Jimi
The tone too
John has this awesome sloppy, raw, unrefined style that i just love! people criticize him so harshly sometimes but i think anyone who loves music for what it is can appreciate the emotion he conveys when playing

“To play and miss the odd note is understandable, to play without passion is inexcusable” Beetoven
Agreed but you missed the H in Beethoven.
@@jamesragsdale8202 my mistake 😒
how im gonna miss this
I'd love anyone trolling on John here to try to go up on stage and do this, I'm guessing it won't work out for you, Johns a living legend
I had to log on just to like this comment, well worth it
Okay, Frusciante had to have sold his soul to some guy at a crossroads in some Delta Mississippi town.
He lives inside the guitar...
John!!! i love you!!! please come back!!!
John Tocaaaaa Demaissssssssssssssssssssss!!
The Guitar GOD!!!!!
Minha principal influencia na Guitarra!!!
J.F. !!!
frusciante circa 2006/2007 is the culmination of the awesome he has been cultivating for soooo many years. takes hendrix and then ups the ante then keeps trucking with sick funk and electric/sonic mastery
one of the best stuff ive ever seen
Amazing clip! I love at the end where John's like falling into his amp, he's feeling every last note that he plays. I replay this over and over again.
0:17 melts my brain….
i watch this every day never gets old ....John frusciante will be missed....but hes got his solo carrear still going on!!!!

+BigBad Bryant Fuckin Amen!!
Lol but some of the licks he's playing actually sound like Jimmy Page
Lol at people that think Page is more technically skilled than Frusciante. Frusciante could blow him away if they just shredded. That being said, Jimmy Page is also amazing.
I agreed with u u til u tried jimmy. Jimmy definetely doesnt show off if anythi g he missed notes
one of the best instrumental trios EVER!
That riff tho!
i just love the way john makes his guitar SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!
best LIVING guitarists:
1. John Frusciante & David Gilmour
2. Guthrie Govan & Eric Clapton
3. Matthew Bellamy & Jonny Greenwood
Jimmy Page & Jeff Beck?
page is sloppy and lazy, beck is good I gotta admit. he and page should share no. 4 ;)
Jan S. I agree 100% No idea how he got away with being so sloppy
***** nope...
Yes man!
thumbs up for will ferrel. its amazing that he started his chemo in 2008 and is still here with us.
man its like jimi hendrix reborn or somethin
in many ways, this was such a perfect band. 4 very different yet beautiful voices. i'm really sad and frustrated that john quit the band, and hope he finds his way back again soon!
Boi I got news for ya
I want to punch my computer when I hear this, in a good way.
Gives me so much energy!
Awesome performance!!! I am now a Frusciante fan!!!
Guthrie Govan is fucking awesome. John Frusciante is fucking awesome. Music isn't a competition.
listen to that distortion, this jam.. 3 guys keeping the good rock feeling alive!!
This clip is UN FUCKING REAL.
haha 1:53 ..even john was surprised at how awesome that turned out.
Notes per minute? Compared to whoever? Son of..! Not as good as …
I don't understand those comments. What are they good for?
I love THIS music.
reminds me on The Brew, newcomer from England...great band with old fashion Rock !
pourquoi j'ai une érection ?? ah oui c'est vrai...
Baguette
Tremenda intro !!!!! Increíble guitarrista John Frusciante , el mejor de todos los tiempos !!!!👏👏👏
he's john frusciante, you can never know what to expect from him!
thats why he's the best guitarist in modern days.
Amazing Solo Band!!!!!!!!!!!
when i hear his solos and jams, goosebumps cover my body
Chad Smith and John Frusciante is like PB & J man, you just can't go wrong. If you dig these riffs check out the outro for "Purple Stain" live at slane castle. Chad's performance is awe inspiring, to say the least.
yep man i agree he have full attitude and skills of guitarist now i am going to like him!!!!!!!!
There isn't another guitarist who makes my soul weep like Johnny Boy...the guy plays like someone who almost died from heroin addiction, so much feeling and pain in his solos...genius.
They should have made this jam into a song, the riff at the beggining is amazing :)
Fantastic!!!
@BlastFromYesterday it's just that! it's called slapping, a bass technique to make the note sound more subtle and less strung out.
i think John is one of the legend in the world of guitar, he has unique character and his only own style which i've never seen a single guitarist like the way he is..lol...the way he plays guitar is like ZOMBIE walking with the guitar and makes the sound so good...love it!!!!!!!!!!
That was awesome! John, youre be my hero always in the music
The over bend at 0.40 is bloody amazing!
He moddelled himself on hendrix as many guitar players did, and still do.
everybody has their idols.
I love both him and hendrix.
wow pure energy!!
Love John'd music, from his drug-addled Smile From The Streets You Hold, to the Peppers work, to The Will To Death and all in between - seen him live twice with the Peppers too. One thing I can never work out though - how the f*** does he move like he does whilst keeping his awesome sound?
It doesn't get old

Geeeeeez, that man knows what he's doing with a guitar. I absolutely adore his guitar tone.
AWESOME!!!!!
I love the beginning, the interaction between bass and guitar at 0:23 - 0:37 is just amazing. In fact I rather this beginning riff than the whole solo, but base could be a bit louder though.
Nobody makes a jam like these guys! Love R.H.C.P! Wonder how the next album will sound, without John..
I think it was in france too. If you look closely at the beginning around the ROCP logo it's written "à écouter fort"
in one word....awesome
There's a website that shows all the pedals John Frusciante has used over the years... this tour, the Stadium Arcadium tour, he had a huuuuge pedalboard. x.x
IMHO the drummer steals the show!!
Happy Birthday John!!
Amazing.
AMAZING !!!!!!
Man it's not about technique, its about the emotion of his sound, i recommand you to listen to some songs of his album " The Empyrean " and you'll see
love it! john is the best!
now thats what i was looking for a solo ! :)
wow his playing here is so much like hendrix's mixed with his own amazing style......just amazing man! john rocks!
Feels like Jimi Hendrix resurrected on Johns Body.....wow that's full of emotion and insane feeling.....Frusciante is the Bomb!
how nice guitar solo♥!!
His guitar play is all about feelings. You can understand, or feel exactly what he feels, when you listen to his solos. This time he felt mad i think
@HolyGK That I have and they both sound like any other blues guitarist around. There's something about Frusciante that's unique, the way he combines elements of metal, classic rock, jazz, funk and country together while maintaining an overall blues style.
wow, WOW!... John is the best!...
Just absolutely mindblowing.
he's got soul into his guitar...great john...
sooooo amazing very hendrix like.

that's fantastic. sounds and looks kinda like Jimi Hendrix's guitar playing. I love it
i would do anything for hair like that. best modern guitarist right there.
Come on John, do it again !
Amazing! i like it!
@JeremyMoar
once again, I agree :) the Curtains album is great. Every song in that album is great and there are very few albums for which I can say that. Never seen such a bad ass solo by him!
The sound is Godlike ! so overpowered
@OGfromskp by the way I cheked some of ur vids pretty good job on the comfortably numb solo only need a bit more distortion
It's just like Hendrix! Amazing solo!
john is an artist
SO GOOD *-*
sooooooo GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
John was voted best guitarist of the last 30 years..so yes, among the greatest in history!
jhon really is a blues guy... never realized it till just now... sounds almost exactly like hendrix
best modern guitarist of the last 10 years by far
Look at that sly little grin at 1:45. John knows he just blew everyone's mind. Incredible.
wow talk about jamin out with the band, man I love this Hendrix style of playing
Love it
0:11-0:18 is just outrageous. That effect is beyond awesome.
This is why Frusciante is a eargasm machine.
