    «It's like I'm in the fourth dimension and somebody asking me to describe it verbally... And that's what the fourth dimension is all about....there's no words, no symbols, no images...all pure energy and vibrations...» John Frusciante - (Funky Monks Documentary)

  • @maartenr1990
    @maartenr1990 5 років тому +50

    To all the people criticizing on Frusciante: a solo doesn't always have to be technical or difficult. Even though I can surely appreciate a good technical performance on the guitar (e.g. Vai, Emmanuel, Satriani), in the end, music is about emotions. Listening to this jam gives me so much energy, even though it might not be a very difficult jam. It's raw. Take B.B. King. He differentiated himself by keeping it as simple as possible. But with so much feeling in every fucking note.
    I can feel the energy in this jam - it takes me away. That's the highest you can hope for as a musician, in my opinion.

    • @MelodicPicking
      @MelodicPicking 5 років тому +10

      Damn man, you are so right. In my opinion it is more impressive playing a simple solo with this amount of feelings in it than shredding the shit out of your neck. The simplicity is sometimes harder to get.

  • @willy565
    @willy565 4 роки тому +48

    I wish I had talent like that. I can watch John in this video, and feel the emotion from his facial gestures of pain during different riffs. I do the "Air Guitar" and feel it...I don't care if that sounds weird. The ups and downs of this solo mean sadness, heartache, and then a little bit of redemption.....and then accepting it. That's how it makes me feel. A beautiful true story of love and loss.

    This dude is incredible. The way his fingers connect with and dance up and down the strings. He knew, from a young age, that he wanted to be a rockstar. Got the fame and fortune and it smashed him hard. Became a recluse and addict, yet those seemingly dark times produced some of his greatest music! So glad he bounced back with good support and is still playing!

    Frusciante is one of those artists who, in order to be special, didn't mind emotionally entering the abysses, on the contrary, he needed to enter them to see the dark side of life. That's why he knows how to locate chords and notes from another world, the same thing happens to some painters. I understand John's creativity perfectly.

    Very sick how Flea can keep up exactly with the randomness of Frusciante. Best band today!

    This comment section is an unappreciative pile of garbage. This is organic music. Not written but felt. Recorded singles have their place but this is something thats very rare and prescious. Non musicians will never understand how insane it actually is.

      Exactly. I have been in bands before and to be able to go out jam is one thing, but to perform it at this level where it moves so many like this is fucking amazing. that rarely happens. Honestly this is one of the greatest live performances of all time in my opinion.

    My God!!! Im 51 years old and sobbing like a child. I can’t even explain what these sounds and notes and rhythm do to my core! It sounds like a cry for all of humanity’s truth to be shown.

      I know what you mean.. I'm 45 and it touch my soul.. it like it telling you a sad story and hoping their is triumph in the end.

    • @diegodelvalle1245

      the intro made me cry too ! and I don't know why, I was like hearing a sad sad story, somehow, my mind pictured a woman weeping for something I couldn't figured it out.
      Somehow this jam got me really deep, and I don't have any kinda of music ability, maybe I'm musically sensitive today.
