  • I’ll make another video with some leathers that are a little less boujee, but this video is dedicated to my top five favorite high end leathers you can generally only get on rebinds. While this video may appear to only be a flex, it is more of an opportunity for you to see different quality leathers before making a decision on a rebind.

    All of them were gorgeous, but I was most surprised by the water buffalo and the shark -- how fascinating were those grains! This is my first view of those; I didn't even know they were a thing!

    I didn't even know that any Bibles are/ can be bound in sharkskin! And that Tobacco color at the video's end--well, that's one sharp-looking Bible cover! I may need to consider buying another Bible in the near future. 😁

    These are all incredibly beautiful leathers. I'm very happy with my green goatskin NKJV, but those Badalassi Carlo's are on a whole 'nother level! So many variations 🤯

    I have a sokoto rebind from ICA and a Capra granulosa one from Logos. Even though both are amazing, I personally give an ever so sight edge to the Capra Granulosa! The grain on both is phenomenal, but the texture of the CG stands out to me- it’s super grainy and grippy.

    I havent gotten a rebind done myself, but ive always been torn about whether to go for Sokoto 🐐 or Badalassi Carlo 🐄 Waxy Pull Up. I hope to try both some day!

      Very soft and grainy. Some of it has a shiny finish and some of it has a suede like finish. Mine is the suede like.

    How does a rebind work? You take the "guts" of an older bible and have a professional put a high end leather cover and binding on it?

    Which leather is most scratch resistent?

    • @anickelsworthbiblereviews
      @anickelsworthbiblereviews  4 місяці тому +1

      Horween would be the least. The Badalassi waxy pull-up scratches but it rubs out easily. Goatskin is pretty durable and scratch resistant. Shark is as well.

      Generally those are used for liners. I’d say the lack of grain is one of the reasons.

      I think perhaps you are making an assumption that the animals are hunted. The tanneries rebinders work with are incredibly ethical and humane.

      @@anickelsworthbiblereviews , I could be wrong, but I think (and hope) that the leather comes from animals killed for food. In other words, they aren't killed for sport and their meat and skin don't go wasted. I'm guessing that's what you may mean by the "tanneries... are incredibly ethical and humane."
