Thanks for commenting Berna. Not just Sapphires but being outdoors and Prospecting is when I'm happiest, for I forget about the problems of our daily modern lives and just concentrated on what I'm finding or looking for. Cheers, Liz
very nice! I'd really like to know how you can tell some random blue coloured stone is a sapphire or a yellow stone is a yellow sapphire? How can you tell what's a zircon?
Each gemstone groups tend to form in specific shapes. If they have not been subjected to natural tumbling as in a river bed they will have the exact shape. A good eye will recognize the fact that those shape might not have their original crisp crystal edges. Color is a good indication for identity. It is the rare colors that make you want to save the specimen for testing. There is a rare color of sapphire that has a pale pink w/ a small hint of orange to my eye. That is the Padparadscha Sapphire. HRH Princess Eugene has a Padparadscha sapphire in her engagement ring. It is not as large of an engagement ring compared to A List superstars. It is IMHO the perfect sort of thing for a Royal. The color of a Padparadscha sapphire is also an excellent choice as it works very well with her complexion .
Ok, I’ve just found my first sapphires, rubies and diamonds. Boom I’m hooked. Now, when I see those stones you’re pulling out, I go WOOOP, YEAH. It’s better than gold fever. One day I’ll get that too😂🤣
Really wish I could visit a location like this one some day! I'm no professional and don't think I ever will be, but I love to collect minerals and (mostly semi-precious) stones and digging for them like this sounds like it'd just feel so rewarding. If the spot had any good or even just pretty stones, that is. Love to hear your passion here!
All rocks tells a story and that's what I find so fascinating. Thanks for watching Nina and wishing you all the very best for the New Year. Happy hunting. Cheers, Liz
Hi Miss Liz I'm living in Jamaica ,,I've watched ur videos. And I've started my own search. I've found some stuff and would love to contact you. To get some insight on I've found. Thank you kindly
I love those wellies, I only have boring green ones hihi. And I love your enthusiasm aswell, it makes happy just watching your videos. I happened to stumble upon some nice big garnets a couple of years ago when out hiking, and I know that some of the worlds biggest and finest peridot is found in my county in Norway a couple of hours away in Åheim. If only I knew anything at all about geology and such I would go out and have a go at finding some gems. For now I'm only striking brown gold and ocean silver in fishing brown-trout, sea-trout and salmon, I think they are like gems too :)
To me they'd just be a bunch of regular stones but now since watching this video, I feel like I could now find gems too XD happy video, happy music and happy people! Gems and stones make people happy 😆 good good
Love your videos and I know people hate comments like this but have you thought about grabbing the center of all the classifiers and sorting at home to make it more efficient
I love your videos. The joy you share is amazing. Do you ever do follow up videos of the stones after cutting? Especially the big ones... Even if they are "low quality"!
S White I will be doing stone cutting videos in the future but time at the moment is a hindrance. We only cut the top quality large stones and send the smaller stones overseas to have them commercially cut. Thanks for watching and commenting S White and wish you all the very best. Cheers, Liz
WOW! Awesome fines you got!! Beautiful stones, where would one fine these? Please! an Thanks! Thank you for sharing like your video's fine they are very interesting!!! Liz..
I would LOVE to go such places like you do. Rare stones, gems and fossils have always interested me since I was 5 years old. Nice find, and good luck on your next hunt :]
+David Dunigan Thanks for watching and commenting David. We only do this for a hobby at the moment, and not really after them because of their value but more of the fun of hunting for them. All the best, Liz
Hi there Liz , I've been a fan of your videos for a while now , including this video . And I just realized that I haven't yet subscribed to your channel .well I am now .
This is so exciting to watch, thank you for this adventure, in my country there's no chance far experiencing this but you make it happen :))) Cheers from Poland:)
Hello there 😁 I’m wondering where abouts you have harvested this from? for my in laws have taken up the hobby would love to know thank you in advanced😉😁
nice to have a lady who likes looking for gem stones most women wont care about looking dont stop looking LIS KREATE love your show wish i was there to
@@LizKreate oh okay. Very pretty. Your really good at spotting the black ones. But how can you tell they are sapphires? Are they shinier than just black rocks?
Liz I have a few stones I've collected from saphire, in Qld.. are you able to do a video on the difference between saphire and spinel? I have some nice blue stones I thought where saphires but maybe there spinels
Hi Zane, The quickest way to differentiate a sapphire from a black spinel is by doing a scratch test. A sapphire (9 on moh scale hardness) can scratch a spinel but a spinel (7.5 to 8 on moh scale hardness) can't scratch a sapphire since its a softer stone. Also put your stones on top of a torch and see if the light can show some colors through on sapphire but spinel won't. Hope this helps. Cheers, Liz
hey liz where in australia was this filmed? I'm in victoria and looking for a place to look for sapphires, iv never fossicked for them before but I'm really really excited to
Stuart Cook Hi Stuart, This area is in Grabben Gullen, NSW. Not sure whether it's going to be worth your while to travel here from Victoria since you've never fossicked for them. The place is getting too popular that it's getting more and more difficult to find sapphires. Wish you all the very best, Liz
i think i will drive up tuesday, i have a few days leave so may stay till friday, are you in that area? maybe if you are kind enough could send me some locations?
+Happy Canadian Mom Thanks for watching and commenting HCM. Hopefully one day, we might get the chance to go over your way. All the best for the New Year. Cheers, Liz
I've seen the video a couple of times, so I've gotten somewhat good at identifying the gems like the amazing ones you found, but are there certain places to look and dig for them? Thanks!
123huskieman Different gems can be found in different locations around the world. Here in Australia, we have designated fossicking areas that anyone can have access to. A bit of research on the net can produced a lot of info on different locations that have gemstones. Good luck and happy hunting. Cheers, Liz
ALWAYS FUN WHEN LOOKING FOR GEMS ESPECIALY WHEN YOU FIND A LOT.
Your glee at finding these gemstones is catching. I can only imagine who fun it would be to go out with you and Wal. Bucket list trip.

Whoa, put the camera down and keep digging!! Fantastic!
I love SAFIRE too
you did not say where to find them
Lol! I don't think she ever will...
Can it be narrowed down by State?
Can't imagine why she would. That would just send people to her secret spots and make it harder for her to find them.
Go to Hiddenite North Carolina!
She is in Australia, most likely at Oberon nsw
yes thought that was obvious that she is in down under! dam lucky they have everything! in uk we have jack all
