This video was great craic, I’ve zero interest in deadbait fishing though, will do another video next weekend with the deadbaits, I’m back addicted to the perch at the moment 😂👍
great video as usual Senan, i've seen other vids recommending injecting the dead bait with air using an empty syringe to get them to float too (have to be careful you don't inject yourself with air tho as that can be lethal!)
Thanks Derek! Ya I’ve seen lads use that method when perch fishing aswel, injecting air into a worm, keeps it popped up in the strike zone. I just don’t fancy keeping the syringe in the fishing bag, would feel a bit weird 😂👌 the lads were injecting oils into the roach in this session, whether it made a difference or not I’m not sure ☺️
Thanks Kieran👍 cool to imagine that some lads only fish deadbaits, some lads only fish lures, and some lads only use flies, pike fishing is so diverse 👌🎣
@@senanstanleyfishing definitely...all lures for me but i tried deadbaiting a few times from the shore a few yrs ago, never saw it from boat before with the bouncing so well worth seeing..great job.
Great video guys, I’ve been using a very similar setup but suffering with the trace tangling around the mainline on the way down. Gave you found this to be an issue yourselves and if so how you getting around it?
Thanks bud, never had the issue but I think it’s important that the boat is drifting before letting the rig out behind the boat, maybe controlling the speed you let your lead out might help to straighten out the rig, but since the bait is floating behind it it should keep the rig straight, it’s a tricky one in fairness, I can see how easily it could tangle especially in windy conditions ☺️
@@senanstanleyfishing appreciate the reply mate, I will keep experimenting until hopefully I can figure it out but your possibly right in that some says I’m not drifting with much pace so that could be the cause for sure 👍
Some boats drift better in a straight line when there’s a drogue out also it helps to keep everything in a line , but I guess Youl need good wind also for that, never easy getting the right conditions 🥶
As far as I know you can keep up to 4 course fish (roach, perch, hybrid) under 25cm for deadbait, but if they find you with more than 4 in the bag it’s not allowed. If the ifi see people deadbaiting they could ask to see the receipt of where the deadbaits were purchased if there’s more than 4 baits in your bag. It’s a weird situation to try and explain, I don’t deadbait myself I’m all lures, my friends do a bit in the winter months.
Another great vid bud, sitting here repairing waders watching it 👍👍

Will do this in spring Paul, I’ve my own boat taken out of the water for the winter months. ☺️👍
Where is this Lough Derg?

Is it legal to catch my own deadbait in Ireland?
