To those wondering: I'm fairly certain that thick book is an old Chilton's manual for a lot of different ford engines and / or transmissions. They go by years manufactured. My dad used to have a lot of those things before every vehicle came with something proprietary. I'm fairly certain that the Ford modulars were the last of that ilk, and now every vehicle has their own drivetrain with no crossover, hence why you won't find one unless they're used, now.
If however your like me and have no money you just decide everything is fine, disassemble, clean, hone, clean, clean, clean, clean some more, re-assemble, and pray to whatever deity you choose
Sorry for repeating my question from another video (but I cannot find that video anymore anymore).. so Did you already clean the deck surface for gasket install? Do you show how you do it in a.other video?
Is the purpose of the cross hatch pattern have to do with allowing the cylinder walls to hold some oil for lubercating purposes ? Thanks , :-) Wyr God bless
I have a quick question for you I've got a 400 out of a 78 Lincoln and it has no ridges and still has the cross hatches and the crank looks like new I'm wanting to rebuild it to the 71 400 spec's any ideas for it.
Nope, sure didn’t. Follow that up will a 240 grit ball hone and it’s good to go. Anyone running a stone hone and then running an engine on that alone is a fool
Yep to fast imo also, the only machine ive used divided the cyl bore diameter into 1600 per the machines target ipms. I believe those ball hones are recommended around 3-600 rpm and 1-300 ipm for a 4" bore. Maybe not exact but in that ballpark which is just a recommendation anyway. It's hard to match the stroke to higher rpms but if your fast as hell it might can be done. Not sure it's as efficient though.
Your not a professional then don't try and tell people how to do this and just looking at pistons they have a lot of where piston where cylinder where add that up it hase to much
Look at this, still awesome, even so many years later. Thanks for the discipleship.
I am rebuilding my first 390. You're videos have helped me out tremendously. Thank you

Pro trick: watch series on flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies these days.
@Anderson Finnegan definitely, have been using Flixzone} for since november myself :D

What kind of book is that? It shows all of the allowed clearance information and sizes? Please let me know!

Wyr Twister it's just so it breaks the rings easier without getting caught on jagged edges
Yes exactly why! It helps hold in some oil for the next pass of the rings
Wyr Twister i
It creates valleys to allow the oil to rest in. The reason you want the 45° is so the rings don't catch and wear the highs/ destroy your rings.

Just hit it with a ball hone and re ring it and new bearings
After you doné all how much you expend $
All your videos have too many dislikes , i dont get it, dheads
You did that completely wrong, drill speed way to fast. Zero cross hatch.
Nope, sure didn’t.

Pistons don't show any wear.?? I'm laughing my ass off. they are worn out!!!
